My first visit to Singapore was many years ago (about 1989), and on the first evening of my visit I was invited by colleagues to attend the garden party of the English commissioner (Michael Pike I think) at Eden Hall. His wife was born just a few miles from where I live in the UK and we got on like a house on fire. She was great fun as was the party. I had flown in from Dhaka earlier and was welcomed by all with open arms, it was a truly humbling experience and I felt privileged. I recall the property as being very English and the gardens tropically green and quite amazing. After that wonderful evening, my colleagues and I visited a nearby hawker centre where we ate and drank and for my sins in all the excitement, I got terribly drunk. Oh dear!!

This is a Syia mosque. Very rarely used. I usually come across this mosque empty, with the gates opened. Now they are closed but they are not locked (open the right one gate). If not used, you can switch on the lights and fans through the switches right next to the main door. Switches for ablution room are also next to the door. If there is an event, you can pray at the partitioned area in the corner. Women can also pray here or upstairs. Wheelchair access available. Despite the different faith, I find the mosque very convenient and easy to access through the Capitol. Within walking distance from esplanade, city hall mrt, etc.

Architecturally it's unique in this region. Who paid for this magnificent structure? I'm not a Muslim but this would almost convince me of the power of Islam.

Sandwiched between high-rise buildings, this old generation masjid was established by the Dawoodi Bohra community in Singapore as early as 1829. Conveniently located in the Central district, it can accommodate up to 150 people. It is also frequented by office workers in the Hill Street and High Street areas.

Visited the mosque for personal Asar Prayers. The mosque is unlocked (through the hidden entrance on the small road) and the mosque was deserted when visited. The ablution area (light switches on the inside) is located on the right when you enter. The prayer hall is located straight after you enter the β€˜foyer’ area. Light and fan switches are located left to the main door of the prayer hall. Recommended for you to switch it on as it can be very dark even in the afternoon. Remember to switch the lights and fans off after use 😊

Actually I came in Ramadan to Pray Ishaa and Taraweeh. The people were leaving after Maghrib, I asked them and there is no Ishaa pray and no Taraweeh prays in Ramadan. It was strange, they were singing and all are wearing white dress and long bears. Dispite I respect diversity but not praying isha and Taraweeh in Ramadan was totally weird at least for me. May Allah yahdeehom we yosleh a7walahom

British High Commissioner's official residence. Available as event venue for select Corp events. Nice old colonial Black & White residence. Catering good with 'famous' fish n chips in newspaper cornets. Pity the grounds now so cramped out after selling off large areas for development.

It is Shia Mosque, With a populace of over a thousand people residing in Singapore, the community consists of professionals and entrepreneurs contributing to the economic growth of Singapore under the guidance of its spiritual leader His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin saheb. MasjidΒ Al Burhani is the congregational centre of the Dawoodi Bohra community in Singapore where the religious, educational and cultural activities are conducted. Β Located in the prime area of City Hall, community members converge here to attend and participate in the events organized by the Dawoodi Bohra central organization and facilitated by local committees.

This is a Shia mosque. All Muslims are welcome but if you Sunni and not comfortable praying here, the nearest that you can get is the mosque near UOB Plaza at Raffles Place

(Translated by Google) Assalamualaikum, wr, a wb It was Friday morning, when it was already 12 am local time, I hurried to look for a mosque to perform Friday prayers. Incidentally, I was in the area not far from this mosque. Without any suspicion or worry, I rushed to this mosque. I met two men "who happened to be native to Indonesia who were conducting a study tour he said in the doctor's organization. Then I invited to walk together to this mosque. It was 12:46 local time, I rushed to take ablution with the two fathers. Then when stepping on the foot in the courtyard of the mosque was a strange thing. There is no drum, yes even if it's not required There is no call to prayer There is no remembrance Already use a prayer mat coated with white cloth for his head Every person who comes changes clothes in white robe I and the two fathers began to feel something was wrong, then we did the Sunnah prayer two rak'ahs then around us as if we were stalking us, but we just wandered. After the Sunnah Prayers we hope to get a sermon from this Friday, but what we can actually make us wonder and even more horrified Instead they sang and shouted while patting their palms to their chests After doing that they stood up, and we stood up hoping this was the right path with the intention I had said for Friday prayers. But it turns out,......... I don't know what they do, pray but I don't understand how to understand it 4 rak'ahs but no 2 minutes after the prayer immediately greetings. And after that they stood around the prayer room, and sang again in a loud and loud voice seemed to mention the name Ali Ali Ali Ali Then because in our opinion this prayer is invalid, we try to repeat the prayer by changing Friday prayers to dhuhur with hearts and feelings that are a little scared. After we finished, we hurriedly left this place, saying hello Whatever we promise, we will not visit the mosque or maybe not a mosque but a place of worship for you Shia. Tapi ternyata,......... Entah apa yg mereka lakukan, sholat tapi saya ga ngerti bagaimana memahaminya 4 rakaat tetapi tidak ada 2 menit selesai sholatnya langsung salam. Dan setelah itu mereka berdiri memutari ruangan sholat, dan bernyanyi kembali dg suara keras dan lantang serasa menyebut nama Ali Ali Ali Ali Lalu krna menurut kami ini tidak sah sholatnya, kami mencoba mengulang sholatnya dg mengganti sholat Jumat menjadi dhuhur dg hati dan perasaan yg emang sedikit takut. Setelah selesai kami lgsg bergegas meninggalkan tempat ini, sambil mengucap salam Entah apapun kami berjanji ga bakal mengunjungi masjid atau mungkin bukan masjid melainkan tempat ibadah kamu Syiah. Wassalamu'alaikum, wr, wb
