First time in Singapore and the worst experience I’ve ever had in life. We didn’t like the beds and told the front desk we didn’t like it and we want our money back. They didn’t give our money back and we were kinda forced to stay just because our fees were not refundable. Very very congested. They provide you nothing, not even the shampoo and body wash. There were cockroaches in the bathroom. Very very disgusting. Even the fan didn’t work in the room. They don’t give AC control to anyone in the room, the room was very hot and when I asked the front desk to lower the temperature, the old guy said his manager said they can’t lower it below 24. What the hell!! Does the manager live in the room or customers? NOT WORTH ANY PENNY. JUST RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!

This place is unfortunately not the best. I expected what I saw in the photos, however when I arrived it was the opposite. Walls were dirty, room was windowless and small, the bathroom stank and had hair in the drain, and there was no one close to my age. Furthermore, my room had many people who were long term residents and therefore had left coat hangers of stuff and suitcases everywhere. Thank god I was able to find a replacement as I felt super uncomfortable. The only good thing was the location which was across from Chinatown and the train station. I post this only as a reminder to check recent reviews as this place seems to have been amazing before covid, but has gone down hill. They are undergoing renovation so seem to be trying to improve?

AVOID THIS HOSTEL. Should be called ‘Beary worst’ NOT Beary BEST. I have stayed in hostels all around the world, and will also camp/sofa surf and sleep on a dirty floor. This place was horrific. Dangerous, Filthy, unsafe and run down. The vent in the bathroom fell off onto me, my light above my bed also fell off onto my bed. Death trap of a place. The sink leaked brown water onto your feet when using it. When I reported these issues to staff no response at all- other than leave a review: therefore this is it!!! The bed is the most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever stayed in and there is no bottom sheet which is grim. Also way more expensive than other hostels that are better quality in Singapore…so do your research and avoid experiencing an actually disgusting stay. Further not a friendly hostel - no one says hello/or atmospheric to making friends. Average age is over 55 (I assume they’re w staying and working in Singapore) so if you are a traveler bellow 40 and looking to socialize this IS NOT THE PLACE. The one redeeming feature is its location to the train and China town tourist attractions like the temples/food courts.

It has a great location. The rooms are quite big beds and sheets very comfortable, the lobby is nice, good temperature in the rooms, the bathrooms quite big. I recommend it for sure. You can find good restaurants, good prices foodcourts or market jus across the street. Even a 24hrs gym, I didn't use it but it is something that call my attention, nice places to visit in Chinatown!!

CONS: -> noisy bed -> noisy door -> bad sound insulation -> dirty toilet & bathroom (schedule cleaning was 11am/12pm but they cleaned it at 10+am and you have to wait outside) -> sink clogged -> bad wifi connection inside room -> non-smoking area but you can smell the smoke even inside your room :) PROS: -> friendly staff -> great location -> free coffee Overall was kinda bad, had a terrible experience as there were 2 or 3 black talked loudly outside the room at midnight 3-4am and in the early morning. Also there was a white woman eating, packing, coughing non-stop at the odd hours. TERRIBLE

Mixed feelings about this place. Location is good, male receptionist was incredibly nice, the woman receptionist was helpful when needed but certainly didn't go out of her way to make me feel welcome. Facilities were ok but not great, AC worked fine, laundry machine and free hot/cold drinking water available on site, but only 1/3 showers had a functioning water heater, and the beds have no curtains for privacy. Also, getting "clean" bedding from the locker when you arrive and then putting dirty bedding back into the locker when you leave just felt very unsanitary and unusual. I would suggest the Hostel makes it very obvious that the bedding has been washed (honestly I wasn't sure) and making the bed before the guest arrives.

I was personally very disappointed in this hostel having read reviews prior to booking. Cleanliness not great and dorm room melt musty (damp or mould). A few of the staff were very friendly & helpful the rest were just rude (on their personal mobiles when talking to them etc) only plus was location but would not stay again. recommend

Would not recommend for the price because of how dirty and ran down it became, specifically the bathroom. Pros: - Apple Wallet Keys - smooth 24h self check in - comfortable bed - amazing location Cons: - water stopped running in the 3rd floor bathroom at 10am - dirty bathroom, when I first went in, clothes were everywhere in the sink and one of them was clogged with brown water - area around toilet was full of water - no soap in the shower - nothing extra was provided - poor placement of guests. Only me and one other guest were in the room and we were placed top and bottom instead of spread out. - my virtual keys didn't work, but luckily they answered quickly, even at 2am! - 2nd floor bathroom one of the showers have no lock, the other had a huge clump of hair

Living room was not as on the pictures and normal washing machine and dryer were broken, so I had to pay 5 for washing and 3 for drying. Service was good though and they were friendly

Dirty place! Whenever it rains it’s smells of rot in the room. In my room there’s an Indian guy with zero regards for anyone, he’s sick and doesn’t use a mask, talks on the phone loudly in the room. Told reception about it and they were supposed to talk to him. No change. Absolutely not worth the money spent!

It's cheap, but that's about it. No real service (you are supposed to do online Check in which takes about 5-10min, but at the reception they forget about it, so no benefit from that). Bathrooms are not very clean, nothing provided, not even reliable hot water or a tray to put shampoo on. Complicated system for keys via an app, for short time visitors at least way too much effort. No real exchange of ideas from travellers,as the meeting room is rather anonymous and uninviting. Dorms: small, crowded, not Clean, lockers are small and not very safe plus dirty, main downside: mainly long term visitors here, who occupy the lower beds of the bunk bed and rebuke you because of whatever you do. They furnish their beds with curtains and similar, travellers are expected to sleep on the upper beds, the fan constantly blowing in their face. I got a soar throat from it. Not too bad, but overall the experience, despite relatively low price, is bad. Spend 5-10sgd more of you can somehow and get some privacy and cleanliness.

Very unpleasant experience. They will say that they can’t provide you the towel due to COVID restrictions but they have 8-10 people in a room and that won’t spread COVID.

Receptionists are great and really helpful but beyond that the toilet was gross and room was so so . Also there was an occupant there who snores very loudly that everyone could barely get any sleep but despite constant complaints from us , the occupant was still allowed back in . Hope this can be rectified as I dont think its fair to other paying customers to have their sleep deprived only because of one person.

I booked one day before via Traveloka. I paid 440k IDR per night (around 40SGD). Reasonable price. Standard facilities. Good for solo or small group travellers. Overall my experience was not bad for that price. I will consider rebooking again tho when I come back. Location: great location, right on a big road (Upper Cross St), across from Chinatown MRT, next to a bus stop. Next door there are some asian restaurants. Lobby: just ok, kinda weird smell. Had several seats, with a kitchen on the back. They gave you door codes from an app called GOKI. The admin was good, easy check-in. Female room: so standard, not spacey, so better maximum you're just with a medium luggage. there are 9 beds, on the third floor, with one aircon and a fan. No curtain for lower bed. At night it's not that cold. The bed, pillow, blanket were ok. Each guest got 1 locker. There are 2 power plugs & a lamp next to the bed. don't forget to bring your own lock for the locker. They didn't clean the floor very detail, still dusty or some rubish under the bed and in the corners. Female bathroom: messy. There were some guests left behind items that were still there. I don't think they clean it everyday. There are 3 wastafel, 2 shower rooms, 1 toilet with bidet and tissue. What I like is that the bathroom has a big window so it's bright and with good air circulation. You can hang and dry your clothes on the window. Hairdryer & body/hand soap available. The hot water worked very well.

It's clean and in a very good location. That's about it. Staff seems bothered whenever you try to speak to them and they have no idea of any of the attractions or the area or good places to eat. Maybe we just had bad luck? Also our room was so filled with the beds and lockers that it was very difficult to move around. Also had to keep my backpack on the floor. Common area is there, but not a good place for hanging out. Not allowed to wear slippers inside. Kitchen is so small that it would get super crowded if I tried to cook something. A disappointment.

Great hostel. I love when they make sure you don't take your stinky smelly shoes into the rooms. the AC was called and the rooms were clean there's nothing better you can ask for for the price you're about to pay. there are many beautiful places in the hostel

Staffs are friendly and helpful. Location is good. Though some lockers are damaged. My locker can be opened even without a key despite the fact that the staff had already tried her best to fix it. Rooms are not dirty but not very clean either. But to be honest, don’t expect too much if you pay this price to get an accommodation in SG.

We all like to travel a bit. Issued travel tickets from our office. We stayed at this hotel on a trip. Here the manager and other staff treated us very politely and very well. There are many things in the rooms here like AC, TV, fan, bathroom and many more. The environment here is very beautiful. I really like coming here.

This hostel was the cheapest in the area. Here are the pros and cons: PROS: - Decent kitchen (not for cooking though, and there is no cutlery) - Nice common area with aircon, a tv, and board games - Good area. Across the street from a large complex, and multiple restaurants. Food centres at walking distance. Bus stop right in front of hostel. CONS: - There are permanent residents in the room. It feels out of place, like you are intruding in their home. (luckily my roommates were all deaf, so at least they were quiet) - Rooms are dirty, packed full of belongings. Toenail clippings, musty smell, bags of trash. Beds are ok only. International adaptor in the wall. - Bathrooms are small, dirty (but well ventilated). The toilet is small, only one shower has a lock in the female L2 bathroom. It’s hard to get changed because the floor is wet and dirty. Additionally, the shower and toilet floor is covered in a paper tile design, which slips around, and must not have been cleaned underneath in a long time. Recommend to wear slippers. - Toilet seat looks dirty. Just in general everything is grimy. - Door system is a little tricky. Codes and an app. Kind of funny I think it has potential to be renovated, with better bathrooms and kitchen. It’s okay to stay a day or two, but I think any more than that would be a bit unbearable. It’s hard to have your own space, which is expected with a hostel, but this isn’t a hostel for meeting young people and travellers. I appreciate the staff and their help, they are kind and welcoming.

The staff who is a very young male "manager " not sure what is his name was extremely rude, nasty to me & accused me wrongly. Alan, the owner, so called the young manager, management ganged up & accused me of "talking to people". I didn't know there was a rule against talking to people. Who would ever think you aren't allowed to talk to people. One very old female guest was spreading gossip on my back & talking behind my back viciously and the staff & owner automatically sided with her before ever hearing my side of the story. They made me leave and called the police on me. Also the place is very dirty and the staff doesn't care at all how they treat their guests and the owner & some staff who even claim to be Christians. They threatened to call the police on me because I was telling people about my personal relationship with Jesus christ made them so uncomfortable. Would they do the same if someone talked about being a Muslim, or a Buddhist? I doubt it.If people were uncomfortable with my conversation all they had to do was tell me so. While I was still thinking was it necessary to call the police? Before i even agreed, the police appeared in front of me without informing me. They just viciously reported on me first. The owner threatens me to leave becos I share Jesus christ with them. I didnt force on them. I just spread nothing about Love. Not safe too. There is a man in the female bunk snoring. So so shocking. Extremely flabbergasting experience. It causes me so much trauma & emotional stress. Moreover, an old woman talked behind my back.Extremely indescrible experience & feelings.....Wanted & demand justice , integrity back. Pure wickedness. Their wickedness literally blows my mind:( Doesnt deserve even a star

Had an enjoyable three night stay. Positives: the hostel is relatively clean and quiet and the staff were friendly. Negatives: the kitchen area is fairly basic and not very clean. The room I stayed in was crammed full of beds - had little privacy and their were no windows. It wasn't the most sociable environment but I suppose that's largely down to luck of who you are staying with.

Nice place if you're in a tight budget. Located in near the busy shopping district. I hope that they could maintain the cleanliness of the reception area as well as provided daily room service because when we stay here for four days, our room was only cleaned twice.

We only discovered this hostel after some bad hostels in Singapore. The hostel was in the central right in front of Chinatown mrt station. The staff were really nice and helpful, the vibe was really good and the dorms were clean and cheap. Something good - this hostel loves bears you have bears everywhere.

They have a great lobby area for when you arrived early you can literally fall asleep while waiting to check in (that’s what happened to me) great beds and friendly stuff. Great location and value for money in such an expensive city.

Very good location and amazing staff. My night was good, good quality of the bedding, the bathroom was OK but could be cleaner tho. You have a free breakfast which is good for the price, however the kitchen seems to be a bit dirty. Overall it's worth it, give it a try.

My bed make my body itchy. Ceiling and wall looks so dirty and not maintain. Everywhere there is dust the toilet is so dirty and smelly. The room is always dark 24/7 . Rubbish not thrown away. Front desk is always missing. There so many long term people that stay and they make so much noise. Floor is full of rubbish. Didn't even see the cleaner for the whole day. I bet they never clean and wash the toilet properly. Linen and comforter feel like Ben reused many time. The room is so messy without any luggage organiser.

My first Hostel stay in Singapore. Its located right across Chinatown Mrt entrance/exit Upper Cross Street. Stayed four days. Bed is comfy. A/C is cold. Locker is provided, bring your own padlock. They have a pantry downstairs just nearby the reception, with a fridge, ovens, microwave, a coin operated washing machine. Cups are shared. You can bring your own or just get from the shops in Hong Lim Complex or China Point, all within 200metres from the hostel. A luggage store is available. And plenty of shoe racks. Plenty of eateries nearby, mostly local food menu. What i really love about this place is everyone is friendly. Special thanks to staff Zan, Jay and Uncle Michael. I'm definitely coming back again.

  • 2/5 Christine Joy R. 1 year ago on Google
Pros: Location is great, a short walk from Chinatown station. Lots of food choices in the area. Souvenir shopping is also nearby Cons: No towels were provided, you have to "rent" one from them. No padlocks for lockers, you also have to rent that from them. Toilet have no bidet. Only two bathrooms and 1 toilet for female per floor. One bathroom had no tray to put your soap or shampoo. No elevators so good luck if you have heavy luggage.

Back for the second time, and this time very disappointed with the hostel conditions.. The common room, don’t have sofa anymore, feels more like café sitting area and there’s this kid claiming the speaker for tv entertainment and really noisy with his game. The male bathroom on the 3rd floor only got 1 heater that’s working, one of the bathroom even don’t have hangers for ur clothes. The bed room is even worse! the said security locker don’t have any lock, I need to used my own lock. The new linen even when they claimed got cleaned and washed profesionally, it’s just got folded like some kid folding it and thrown at the locker. Honestly hard to believin their claimed. No privacy!! No more curtain to filter the light and some privacy. And some of my roommates very disgusting wearing their outside shoes inside the room and not taking the socks off. But I must say that the guy at the receptionist desk pretty friendly, cold and hot water, free coffee and tea also available at the pantry
