Very dirty rooms, very rude staff they are not even bothered to answer your questions, called them once i saw how dirty the room is they said its like this and they will send someone to clean it and it wont get clean they didnt send anyone stayed there for 3 nights. The first day they folded the same towels we used even though we asked for new ones second day onwards they weren't even folding it they were just throwing it next to the sink in the bathroom. If you care about the tidiness of the room you are staying in this is definitely not the hotel you should go to.

It’s a below standard Renaissance hotel. The room service is very limited. The quality of the meat very bad, and also cold, especially for the price. Breakfast has a good variety, but the start to clean and vacuum, before the end of the service, which makes it unbearable. The water pressure and heat, in the bathroom, is not very good configured at all. We weren’t able to check the lounge and/or swimming pool as the availability is also very limited. I wouldn’t subtract any points for this though. Rooms are very old-school, the first time I stayed the room smoked a lot like cigarettes. Location is nice, well located. Service personnel at the check-in seems a bit very junior. Overall not bad, but still below average.

Facilities: Booked this hotel SPECIFICALLY as advertised with swimming pool and wanted our kids to have a swim after spending the day on a train to get to Brussels. Only AFTER booking they sent an email stating that the pool is over 18yrs only from 6pm!!! Too late to change hotel by then. Location: Metro ride distance from central station, but not really convenient location of hotel for Metro station - quite some walk with luggage, but too short for alternative such as taxi. Whole neighbourhood absolutely dead on weekend anyway because it is parliament area. Service: Due to delayed trains we arrived later than planned and needed to quickly feed the children and get them to bed. 1.) Check in took AGES due to tens of airline staff checking in & out (these are regular corporate guests, do they need to check-in/out at a desk?) Only two check-in desks to deal with crowd. Similarly only two lifts with crowds of airline staff in lobby coming and going and guests from all floors trying to get down for dinner. Luckliy we were only second floor so I could take the stairs... only there are no public stairs; when I asked a staff member he led me behind the service area of the hotel and unlocked a stairwell for me! 2.) Went to the restaurant to feed dinner to children, by then around 7pm. No space and fully booked, "We should have a table available within one hour" said the waitress to a father with two exhausted young kids! I walked around the restaurant and counted total of 23 table seats for serving food, plus some bar stools (nobody at the bar was eating so I assume that is drinks only). That is way too small for hotel of this size and also makes the further delay on food look even more pathetic. So I opted for room service: Go back to room, no way to find out about room service (no digital links, no paper menu or hotel info) so call for service. The button on the phone is labelled "Happy to serve you" but obviously they are not as it was never answered after multiple attempts and minutes on the line. So I went downstairs and asked the front of house waiter for a menu for room service - they offered no guidance on how to order it. Eventually I find a QR code on a screen near the entry which links to an online ordering system. So I place an order for dinner and wait.... and wait.... and wait. After 40 minutes I try to call for an update but again the phone is not being answered. So I walked down to the restaurant and ask at the front counter for an update on my order, giving my room number. The staff member searches on the computer through the room service orders and insists that there is no order for my room. I show him my phone screen with order confirmation and eventually he finds the order. He is not able to give me any information about when it will be ready, because they are very busy (23 seats remember!?!?!) When I go back to my room the food has been delivered while I was down checking on it - but the guy at the restaurant did not know that?!? Food & drinks are totally overpriced for what they are, of course because we are a premium hôtel, monsieur, even though it is totally mass-produced (steak & chips, burger & chips, pasta, childrens fish & chips, etc) The room rate came with breakfast but in the morning we had to leave earlier than breakfast started to catch train. After lots of debate, they finally confirmed they could provide a take-away breakfast, so order 3 of those. On check out in the morning they had only prepared 2 breakfasts ?!?! Not even able to count to three? Could no longer be bothered to debate it. Breakfast was a pastry (ok) and a white sliced bread cheese sandwich - you know, the kind of thing that Europeans take the piss out of the British for serving!!! Room: It was fine for size, comfort, temperature (mild wet summer night).

Rooms are outdated and should get renovated soon. For all the towels you receive, not enough place to let them dry. To my comfort all the pillows in Marriott are too big for me. Pool was good and it was nice to have a hotel with a pool in the middle of the city. Breakfast food was amazing! Staff was also very kind.

Worst service I have ever seen in a major hotel. We stayed here for two horrible nights in late April 2023. Our room was hot, very hot, so I tried to call the front desk our first night 7 times without getting an answer. The temp never got below 26 degrees C. We slept with no covers very uncomfortably. The next morning I again called and requested a maintenance guy fix the a/c. No change. Finally I demanded that the locked window in the room be unlocked. Four hours later it had not been done, so I called yet again demanding action, which was done 10 minutes later. This place gets a zero for customer service, and a 1 of 10 for comfort, room, and maintenance. It's as if they just don't care about their clients. DO NOT STAY HERE, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED...

Great location, rooms big and spacious. We had interconnecting family rooms. Great pool and gym. Easy walk to fab restaurants and public transport to get sound the city. Parking underneath - We booked through Bepark so saved a few Euros. Great stay!

Old, small rooms filled with mold. Asked to be moved and was moved to a smaller room that was even dirtier. The entire hotel smells like raw sewage. Rained all 3 days; not a single umbrella for guests. Food is incredibly overpriced for the quality and amount

As with all Marriott properties, the Renaissance Brussels Marriott is a beautiful, clean and welcoming hotel. The front desk staff speak multiple languages and are very attentive and professional. The manager of the Poet, the hotel restaurant, Monsieur Gasey does an outstanding job running such a busy restaurant. The buffet breakfast is wonderful, offers a variety of food options to satisfy everyone ! Each department has incredible leaders and we are grateful for the housekeeping staff, restaurant staff, reception and maintenance !! This could not be as effective without the incredible GM. Keep doing a great job.

One for the BO of the staff. It's really disgusting. When the housekeepers are doing rooms the whole corridor smells. The elevators smells. A guy came to put together a bed and the stench stayed in my room for the rest of the day. Please have a sensitive talk with staff about BO. That said, they were all kind, accommodative and the breakfast buffet is really good. Housekeeping and support staff need to use deodorant. I felt bad because they were absolutely nice ladies, but BO is an issue.

Another great Marriott experience. I'm an Ambassador elite but the system was showing me as Gold. The manager honored my Elite membership and upgraded me; she also reached out to Marriott to make sure I got the appropriate amount or points for my stay. Fantastic service as always! Rooms were great, beds are comfortable. Nice gym with a sauna. A bus 50 meters from the hotel will take you straight to the center. Highly recommended for business or pleasure.

Rooms are kind of outdated for the price and the walls are very thin. We had neighbors that were extremely noisy (including a barking dog) but the staff was super kind and placed us in a different and superior room which really made this trip great. Breakfast has a great variety and the pool area was nice as well (even though very crowded but this is not the hotel's fault). So 4 stars mainly for the service and turning this into a good trip by switching our rooms. Thank you!

I have had an excellent stay at this property. Very professional and nice staff, everyone was extremely helpful. Breakfast was also very nice snd tasty. Excellent location. The only downside is that rooms are a bit dated and on the small side, and that is why I grant this place 4 stars and not 5. Thanks Renaissance Brussels for your excellent service and standards.

Not the best and here is why: 1) check in and check out extremely slow and there are usually no people at the reception. If they are, they are busy talking to each other rather than attending to customers. 2) good luck trying to call reception from the room, it is easier to go downstairs 3) room service - food arrived cold, spoon for soup was missing, big bottle with metal cap was not opened 4) showed - either hot or cold water, not in between Overall quite disappointed with my stay. From good things: 1) good location 2) good design 3) warm rooms in winter

I am really disappointed by this hotel. We chose it because it has so many good reviewes but it was definitely the worst stay ever. 1) rude staff On our checkin, due to some error of our part, which we admit, I couldn’t do the checkin without my companion because he didn’t put my name on the booking (I arrived before him). After an agreement it was okay that I do the checkin if I pay, which wasn’t a problem for us. However, the staff yelled at me because he thought I was mad at him and he simply followed the rules. I was offended with his attitude, why doesn’t he respect the customer? Plus I told him I wasn’t angry, but after his attitude I was angry for sure. Then, during the checkin I asked how much do we have to pay for a late checkout and he said it will be offered to us. 2) No professionalism Despite being yelled at, we asked the day of the checkout wether the late checkout was taken into account. The staff said we have until 1pm. There is no communication between the staff stating the case of each client. Of course we weren’t happy. We decided to go to the welcome desk and explain the situation. She said, (it was a woman this time), that late checkout is only for some clients (kind of VIP I guess) and we said we didn’t ask for free one but we were ready to pay but her colleague told us it would be offered. 3) not secured: on our second day of stay, someone opened our room. We were still sleeping so we were surprised hearing the door opened, but I thought with the high end key it’s not possible to open the door. Of course we said mistake can happen In general, the room was good but our stay was really bad due to miscommunication, rude staff, and from my experience it looks like they only respect some type of clients. Which is not good, as a client you should be treated equally.

Great location, very near to bus stops and the Brussels-Luxembourg train station. Literaly across the corner of the block. Rooms was clean, tidy, and quite spacious. Breakfast was awesome; the croissant was so good. Staff hospitality in majority was great but one or two staff still not up to par.

Good business hotel. Bit off the beaten track but easy walk to lots of local restaurants. In house bar is very good for pre or post dinner drinks. Rooms are functional- bathrooms are small but bed very comfortable.

Nice hotel close to a number of relevant EU institutions making it ideal for business. Room was nicely decorated and spacious, and not overcrowded with obsolete furniture. Very quiet and peaceful at night. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom had enough space too and was equipped with the walk-in shower. The cleanliness was at a very high level everywhere in the hotel. Decent selection of food for breakfast. Didn't have much interaction with the staff, but they also left a solid impression. Overall, the stay in this hotel was a very pleasant experience.

We stayed 7 days/6 nights for Christmas-New year eve… we had booked a junior suite for 3 ( a couple and a child)… housekeeping department kept bringing towels only for 2!!!Also the sofa bed for our son was really uncomfortable !!! Everything else was quite good… the location was very convenient …. Breakfast was excellent… Bar was closed before midnight- typical Belgium!!! Beligiannis family from Thessaloniki-Greece

I visited this hotel with my family and my wife and daughter are very satisfied to room space. Breakfast is also good quality. Restaurant in this hotel is good. This hotel is located a bit far from city center but Belgium is small so no problem for sightseeing. Difficult to find car parking. Front is not so kind. If Wifi can be use in training room, it’s more better. BTW, one of the door in the room was broken.

Beautiful decor, very different, kind of like Cirque. Cozy ambiance, nice rooms. Wish there were robes and slippers. Train and bus close by as well as parliament but a good 20 min walk to Grand Place.

I encountered an unfortunate issue during my recent stay where the hotel charged my credit card despite my opting to use a gift card as my method of payment. This unexpected billing error reflects poorly on the hotel's payment processing and could certainly impact the trust future guests place in their financial transactions here. Furthermore, I found the staff was not adequately trained to rectify the situation, demonstrating a lack of competency in their roles. I hope the hotel management will address these issues to avoid such inconvenience for their guests in the future.

Ambassador Elite member. Stayed two weeks here and had a pretty pleasant time. Highlight was the exceptional service in the lounge from Lorenzo and Panagiota - they deserve five stars and a raise, they’re the best people in town. Their warmth and attentiveness created a really positive environment, even if some of the guests did not reciprocate their sunniness. // Location is central to a lot of different experiences - 20ish minutes walking to Kunstberg and Grand Place, plus other museums and parks within a similar distance. A few decent restaurants, a good self service laundromat, and some small grocery options within easy walking distance. // Lounge offerings are modest but entirely sufficient - not a full meal, but not intended to be either. Hours are limited and because it’s an open floor it’s not as calm as other lounges, but it’s solid regardless. // Breakfast is the same every day - scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, hash browns, cold cuts, pastries, fruit, yogurt, juice, etc. Was included in my rate, not sure I’d pay for it outright. // Front desk and restaurant couldn’t make change for me on the few occasions I asked and there’s no ATM on site, so you may need to break bigger bills elsewhere. // Rooms were fine - I know there are updates planned, but the beds were pretty tough and the toilet was in a cramped position for a tall guy. I had a water heating issue once or twice, but it resolved in about fifteen minutes. Otherwise there’s a small fridge - no microwave in the room or lounge though (not sure if there’s one on site at all). // The only thing that bothered me during my visit was my last day. They were replacing TVs in all the rooms late into the day but I never saw a notice that they were performing that maintenance, which would have been a good heads up since I usually keep my Do Not Disturb sign on the door. I was surprised someone had been in the room, but also they had shut my window and moved some of my things I kept on the counter to make room for the TV. With notice, I would have taken more care to put those belongings away. Not necessarily a huge deal, but management should do more to inform guests, especially if maintenance will last late into the afternoon.

Good pool, good breakfast, but our room was 80° F the entire time, making sleeping difficult. Apr 29 and 30th when it was 55° outside. We called the front desk many times and finally got someone to unlock the window. This didn't help any and spent another uncomfortable night. No airconditioning I guess. Glad we're not here in July.

Can’t recommend this hotel highly enough… staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Rooms were lovely and clean, pool was very nice. Drinks in the bar downstairs were gorgeous. Location is perfect, as there is a bus stop just around the corner where you can get just about everywhere. Great value for money, would definitely stay here again.

Good hotel. A little away from the attractions, but the walk isn’t bad and buses are close by. Rooms were clean and updated. Staff was friendly and helpful. Didn’t eat at the restaurant, but it looked nice along with the lobby. Several places nearby to eat or grab a drink.

The hotel is in a great location and is walking distance from city center. What is truly exceptional about this hotel is the staff at the front desk. Each one of them go above and beyond for guests and fulfill any (reasonable) request with the utmost kindness, patience, and professionalism.

Nice older hotel with a good breakfast and excellent service. I didn't try out the restaurant as there are several all around it. It's very close to parliament and near a tram stop. The rooms do feel a bit older, but the small details are definitely nice. I would absolutely stay here again.

My favorite hotel now in Brussels. Everything is amazing. Restaurant, member lounge, gym is legit for real gym. Great location steps from Place Luxembourg

Highly disappointed. Good location (some lovely restaurants nearby) but €400 euros a night, for an attic room that looked like it hadnt been redecorated since the 1990s - and didn’t include breakfast- is unjustifiable. Dark. Dated. Expensive. Bathtub not walk in shower. Room had a nice work/desk area. Breakfast looked standard for Brussels hotels. Fitness centre is tiny. Three people swimming and the pool was full. No business centre.

Amazing experience at this hotel. Everyone on the hotel staff from house cleaners, front desk, bartender, waiter/waitress, room service and even the employee who assembled the baby crib for us provided excellent service. Everyone made me feel like a valued customer and throughout my 5 day stay made sure to take care of my needs. As a bonus, the restaurant food was the best I’ve eaten at a hotel before. I complete understand now why Marriot has the wonderful reputation that it has. I highly recommend.

Good location and fast service. But we had just one too many hick ups during our check in day; On the day of arrival, my reservation mistakenly cancelled by the hotel and caused me multiple long phone calls. My check in requests for extra bed, pillows and etc was not prepared. The room was prepared only for 1 person; one set of toiletries, 1 coffee mug, 1 towel. In addition to these, the lounge was pretty limited. Actually, this might be the poorest lounge I have ever seen in a Renaissance hotel chain :) In short, don’t expect a regular Renaissance quality, it is an ok hotel

The room was not too small and had the essentials. But, the duvet was disgusting! When the cover was lifted, it had stain all over it. Also, the parking is expensive and hassle to pay for! Every time we wanted to go out, we had to stay in the lobby waiting for reception to be done. Finally, we ordered some Belgian Fritter but it was delivered cold! The breakfast was expensive but fresh and tasty. worth the price.

The facility is nice in general.. one lady in the front desk made me hate the hotel. When checked in gave us a room with people in it . I wanted to shorten my stay and she said I can’t give a late check out because we are fully booked . 🤣🤣 I just wanted to leave two days earlier how come u are fully booked. I just told u I am leaving. I have an issue with lies.

Excellent receptionist - Nice Public areas. Unfortunately, this is where the positives end. Strange system promoting online check-in and electronic key via their app but then you still have to go to reception to show ID! Rooms classed as family rooms are just two rooms with the centre door unlocked. One of the rooms was a disabled room and I felt very sorry if this is what they offer disabled people. Very shabby room and bath that was very high that it made even me, an able bodied person - take extra care because of its height. Both rooms had a very bad smell. Like sewage (same smell that we noticed in the underground garage). Very basic room and reminded me of a 1970’s US motel. They even had sachets of coffee which is the last thing you would expect in a 4-star, 21st century hotel. I thought that the free bottle of water was a step in the right direction, except that in a room that is normally double occupancy, why only have one small bottle! This omission was even more disappointing as the rooms were sold as a ‘family’ room i.e. more than one person! The real salt in the wounds was the swimming pool. We primarily booked this hotel because it had a swimming pool and its something our kids enjoy. However, you had to book a slot and when we went to the gym receptionist; not only were the slots all booked up, both in the evening and Sunday morning; the receptionist was rude and dismissive of us. A real disappointment. I really wish I could I write something positive about this hotel. The only highlight was the friendly receptionist. But then, staff generally take on the attitude of the hotel they work for and here is a hotel that is doing the very minimum and is desperately in need of a refurbishment. Overall, a very poor experience and not worth the money they charge.

A great place to stay in Brussels. Not a long walk into the city center and a great opportunity to pass the beautiful palaces. The room itself was clean and the linen, bed was quality! It was great that we could enjoy the hotel pool.

Strong sewage smell in rooms (which I can now see others have mentioned in reviews), extremely noisy as the hotel overlooks a tourist bar/club. Super noisy clientele, many rooms on my floor were 'party rooms' with people drinking / running / slamming doors all night. Hotel room key had to be replaced daily as it kept breaking. Reception were nice people but the service was slow. Bathtub was really dirty and bedding had pen marks all over it. Overall I found it a bit stressful staying here.

What really matters for me customer service excellence and the hotel staff have all especially the front desk staff Julia and Mona are one of the best they’re friendly and they have professional knowledge about everything related to Brussels. They acknowledge customers calling them by name and always helpful and cheerful trying hard to assist you and anticipate your needs. In addition to that the hotel has one of the best chefs in town he knows how satisfy your cravings.

Beautiful lobby and wonderful buffet breakfast. Location is quiet and perfect if you don't mind walking 30 mins to the main square. The other Marriott was literally inside the square. Imagine 10,000 tourists outside your window/door all day and night including a srage with a live rock concert. I think we made the right choice. The daily walk forces you to see the whole city including the park in front of the palace.

Hotel created on me a modern and new impression, furniture in good shape and probably almost new? Bed very comfortable with 4 pillows with different sizes. I found the room rate very expensive but probably common level for this location, even if the old city centre is not nearby? However, a clear recommendation.

  • 3/5 Marc D. 1 year ago on Google
Location is decent. Breakfast buffet at 25 Eur per person is outrageously high. 6th floor has a pungent smell of sewage. Hotel is aware of the issue (apparently related to A/C). Customers should not be booked on that floor as long as the odor issue has not been fixed. At this point I am undecided if I would stay there again.

It’s a nice hotel with very friendly stuff, but the one thing that really amazed me is the bartender Simon. His cocktails are almost too good to be real. My tip is to tell him what taste you like and then let him surprise you.

The hotel has a convenient location with enough parking options available as well. The lobby and restaurant look amazing. The rooms are a bit outdated - but it’s shown on the pictures when you book it, so I am not sure why people are complaining about that. The lady that checked me in was great and very patient with me as well. The gentleman that checked me out was a bit awkward and did not ask me if I enjoyed my stay or if I would like to have a printed receipt. I did receive it by e-mail and that’s alright, but I think communication could be better. Furthermore some constructive feedback: the phone on the desk of room #503 indicates that you’re in room #505 so that’s a bit confusing and there are no sockets near the bed, could be an easy fix. Minibars are empty (which is totally fine), but the hotel should have something available (in other hotels they have a mini market at the lobby where you can buy things to put in your minibar). Also roomservice until 22:00 ain’t it but it might be because of a staff shortage? Anyway, 5 stars cause I did enjoy my stay. The building is beautiful, staff is nice and a lovely location. The gentleman that worked at the bar on Thursdaynight is very charming as well! Thanks a lot!

    1. Failed Promise We have used a suite upgrade coupon and obtain the confirmation email. When check in, they said system error, no room upgrade can be offered. 2. Poor quality in both hardware & software Tried to access the gym, but the room card is not working. I went to reception, they tried to fix it, I went down to the gym, still not working. Have to ring the telecom and someone open the door. Finally, access the gym, take a look attached photo of the gym facility. They don't even have 1 treadmill 3. Bad Room Service Across three days, tried to request a room cleaning when we go out at the afternoon. Nothing cleans up when coming back at night. Last day of checkout, a floor manager rings our doorbell at 8 a.m. and asked: "Sorry to disturb you, what time you will check out? 12? Good. Thanks" Summary: I understand it's 4-star hotel and it's the end of the year as a peak season. However, I will not recommend anyone to stay in this hotel because a simple Ibis budget hotel will do a sufficient job than this one.

Check in very slow and chaotic. Ac didn't heat well, had to change room, no service offered with luggage while changing rooms. Breakfast is more than good, with a good choice of food in a nice seating area. Swimming pool and gym is focused on people from the outside, didn't feel very welcome as a hotel guest.

Nice hotel, with some really kind staff. I hate to rate the service lower as there were a few unhelpful staff members in the restaurant area. The facilities were all nice and clean, and the rooms were comfortable. The hotel felt safe which was great as female travelers. The decor in the main lobby is amazing! The location is really great for walking into the centre or getting on the bus. There are also great places to eat around, try the poke bowl place round the corner! We didn't have a good view at all, even though I asked for one for my mums birthday, but there are apparently good rooms there. They were kind and provided balloons and a card for my mum. I would come back here!

The location is okay, only one bus going to the city center but it’s only 20 min walking to the “grand place” anyways, with a lot of attractions on the way there. Not much to do in the area after 8 PM. The hotel itself is clean and the staff are friendly, although the restaurant service can be more friendly, some of them were not really paying attention (to) or greeting the guests. The gym is also very nice with quite a lot of equipment. The rooms are very nice and the environment is perfect for a nice sleep! I would stay again there if i go to Brussels.

Overall nice experience and above average friendly staffs. But I guess theyre just very busy and might need better training on organization and time management skills. We have asked several times for them to open the connecting door between our two rooms, but they haven’t really come after promising to proceed.
