We stayed in the Guesthouse on 7-8.6.2022. Our experience was very negative and humiliating because of the hotel owners attitude. On the day of checkout the hotel owner kicked us out of the rooms at 11 AM exactly, stating that the hotel is expecting a large group of arrivals, though we asked for late checkout the prior day (offered to pay for it of course!). There was no one coming to the hotel... The hotel owner would not let us store our luggage in luggage storage, although it is clearly stated the hotel offers it, and literally kicked us to wait for our taxi outside in the rain. We spent several hours several hours waiting for our preordered taxi since you can't order one to the airport, in the small city without prior notice. Since we could not leave our bags in storage we couldn't obviously tour the city during those hours, and simply had to sit and wait, under the rain... Lastly our room was on the top floor, and the hotel does not have an elevator, when we were instructed to leave the rooms, we asked for the help of the staff to bring our bags down (we are not at an age in which we can carry luggage across floors). The hotel staff gladly helped, and we tipped them as gratitude. When we were in our taxi heading toward the airport, we got an *angry* call from the hotel owner yelling at us for *using* the hotel staff to carry our bags and the hotel property (for waiting outside) and shouting that he doesn't want to ever see us in his hotel again. I travel a lot and have never had such a humiliating experience in any guesthouse/hotel in my whole life.

Nice room with view. Close to village and attractions. But, -cash payment, NO CREDIT CARDS. -shower curtain is a problem for tiny shower; too long, clings, spills water. -no shelf in shower

Unique experience to rest in 100 years old chalet in the middle of mountain of Pena. We had a room facing to the castle of the Moors - wonderful view on down and dusk. Owners are very helpful.

Difficult to find even with GPS. House on hairpin turn so missed it and had to drive all the "one-way" over the mountain and down the other side to get there. Took more than 2 hours to find it. Owner not very helpful; just matter of fact, abrupt manner. When asked directions, gave very minimal info which was not very helpful. Did not show us to our room; just gave us the key to find ourselves. Not accepting credit card is a negative. Bed was fine, but room was very warm; no a/c, opened window but then had bugs flying in. Ad says shared lounge; we were not shown a lounge. Ad says on site bar; there was no bar, unless it meant available coffee or tea in the dining room. Poor location for walking to the historic centre-narrow winding roads and an uphill climb back up. We had to hire a taxi. Would not recommend this place for sight-seeing Sintra; much better to rent a place in the town centre; would be much easier for walking to sites.

Chalet Relogio, its a big house converted to a nice and beautiful hotel. There is a private parking. Its better to go by car than bus. My boyfriend and I stayed one night here. The room was clean and comfortable. Our room had a beautiful view to nature. The breakfast was great. It was more than we expected! The owner of the hotel was nice and he gave us information about place to visit in Sintra.

Like a small castle, we had nice night! The owner give us a lot of attention, was very polite. The breakfast had a lot of options of fruits and breads, they were all fresh and it was really good. The WiFi needs improvement.

Live like a nobleman in the early 20th century! Amazing location in an historical mansion, where we have occupied a nice 2 room suite. close to the Pena palace and other attractions. Jeroen has been very attentive. A pity we stayed only one night. Given the history of the mansion, do not expect top notch furniture and abundance of space, but try to appreciate the squeaky wooden floors.

We were staying at the Chalet from August 14-16, 2023. The images you see is the front of the hotel. The new Owner, Jerome, does not show photos from the back and sides. Please look at the attached photos. The building is old and smells with mildews everywhere. We had to wear masks while sleeping in order not to get sick. Upon arrival, the room key was given to us by the housekeeper who was only speaking Portuguese. No passports were asked and no copies were taken. We unpacked our belongings and went to go explore Sintra. Several hours later, I got a message on WhatsApp from Jerome which stated that I should contact him immediately. He was very angry and aggressive with me, he even started screaming over the phone. Jerome moved all of our personal items, including medications from the fridge to a different room all because we were in the wrong room. I was trying to ask him why he decided to move everything without our permission first, and that we travel 3-4 times a year to various countries while never having to deal with such unprecedented behavior. Jerome just kept on yelling at me and told us that he can do whatever he wants since he is the owner. He even asked us to find another hotel! I work in the hospital, my phone is available 24/7. The Owner could have easily reached me before he opened our room and start digging through our things. This was absolutely unacceptable and humiliating, he put a lot of stress on my family and I. It was around 20:00, we were tired and our teenage daughter had to take her Insulin and get some sleep. We got no apology. Jerome, furious, showed us to our new room where are belongings were. I asked for the key, he told me it is a universal key; it opens all the rooms in the hotel. I was in absolute shock, please be beware! We were not able to find any available hotel in Sintra and because we had already made plans for lots of activities in-town we had to stay one more night in the Chalet. The Owner’s behavior, condition of the building, and the time spent in it ruined our vacation and made me embarrassed in front of my wife and child that I picked such a horrible place. We were in Portugal for almost three weeks, traveling all around the country. This is nothing like Portuguese hospitality. I am following up with this complaint to the ASAE (Authority for Food and Economic Safety in Portugal).

WE LOVED THIS PLACE. The house was beautiful, the VIEW is AMAZING! Jeroen was very kind and helpful, he had a lot of tips for us to see and do in Sintra. Inside the house it's beautiful, the rooms are very nice. I can only say good things about this stay. We stayed her with the kids and they enjoyed it so much! Thank you for everything Jeroen!

The kind owner bought the chalet 10 years ago and runs it by himself. He puts so much love in every detail of the decoration and keeps it very well preserved. The old chalet was the best place we stayed at during our portugal-trip. The breakfast is a super nice buffet with a lot of options to choose from. Definitely recommend it and a 10/10!

We had an amazing stay here in the summer, when staying here we had the windows open so everytime we woke up with nice birds singing and fresh air. The host is a very kind man. Breakfast every morning was so good. And of course Sintra is a very nice place to see. We are definitely coming back!

We had a wonderful time at the Chalet Relogio and with we could’ve stayed 2 nights in Sintra. It is about a 10 minute walk to Quinta da Regaleira and a 15 minute walk to the city center. There is private parking. Breakfast is served from 0830-0930 which was lovely. Wonderful service.

A lovely historic guest house in the hills of Sintra, a short walk from the National Palace. We had a spacious room with great views of the castle and surrounding area. The breakfast buffet was amazing with a wide choice (see other peoples photos). Just bear in mind this is an old building with lots of charm in the hills, if you want all the mod cons it is not for you, but I would take this over all the modern hotels anyday.

Very cozy and pretty place to stay. We had a wonderful room with a great view and could see a castle from the balcony.

It's a privelage to be able to sleep and stay in such a historical place. Everything was clean and old but in great condition. Submersive yourself to the picturesqueness of this Chalet. It was great and also one tip, after eating something at the historical centre, on your way back to the chalet you can see an beutifull sunset.

Im going to just leave these pictures right here and let you be the judge of our stay. This was an incredible weekend. The place is clean, beautifully decorated, homely and cozy. You can tell by every single detail, every plant and every little curtain that the owners put their heart and soul into this place. The breakfasts was lovely, the room we stayed in had a view that even pictures cannot transmit - we could see the castle from our windows. Even on a foggy day it was still absolutely breathtaking. I love Sintra, but I had no idea Sintra had places like these. My favourite part of the stay - an absolute absence of noise. You hear nothing but bees, birds and trees. 🌿 We truly loved it.
