(WHAT YOU DO WHEN NO ONE IS WATCHING) I'M CONCERNED ABOUT LEAVING MY FAMILY MEMBER IN THIS CARE. HOPE HE DOESN'T TAKE A SUDDEN TURN FOR THE WORSE UNDER YOUR WATCH.

Our daughter has had allergies and asthma her whole life, so we know when things are critical. We've also been to emergency on several occasions. MercyOne is by far the worst emergency care we've ever received. Every time we've gone, we wait for hours before we even get seen. When someone comes in and cannot breathe and their lips are turning blue because of the lack of oxygen, standard procedure should not be to have them take a seat in the waiting room until they can get to you! This was our first trip in that particular day. After giving her a couple of nebulizer treatments, they decided she was good to go and sent us home. (We have a nebulizer at home - I told them I had already given her 2, and she keeps dropping back down within an hour of the treatment.(Treatments should last at least 3-4 hours)). So needless to say, we got her home, and within an hour we were heading back to the ER. This time when we went up to the window and told them she still cannot breathe, she is blue, we need to get her in now, we were once again told to have a seat! REALLY!!!??? This time I literally yelled, NO! SHE CANNOT BREATHE, WE NEED TO GET HER ON OXYGEN NOW!! Well that worked, someone came out from the other side, and we were taken in immediately. A person should not have to come in screaming in order to get the help they need! Even on this second visit in the same day, we still ended up getting transferred to the other hospital in town. However, MercyOne made sure they billed us for an overnight stay in a room that we were never in. I spent a year fighting it and appealing it, but they still refuse to take the $1400 room off the $12000.00 bill!! Horrible hospital! Even worse ER!

Long story but I’ll try to give you the short version. Was there in Sioux City visiting and my husband Fell. He bruised his ribs and we found out that he has pneumonia. He was prescribed antibiotics and a pain medicine which was sent to the Walgreens there in Sioux City. Well we did not know that they are closed on Sunday.( the pharmacy) Several calls have been made back-and-forth to the Walgreens there in Sioux City and the Walgreens in Omaha five calls to the hospital and I finally find out that the hospital cannot send the prescription to our Walgreens because it’s a controlled substance . They said I would have to pick up the prescription in Sioux City. Why would I drive all that way to get a prescription. How come I was not told that before so I am highly upset. Another thing was they had already taken Trent’s blood and it was about a couple hours later someone came and wanted to take his blood and we said they already took his blood. Well she walked back and fourth then stood out in the hallway then she came back in and she said this name and I’m like who I said this isnt whoever’s name she said I said this is Trent and then she said oh we already have his blood. I thought it would be an easy fix for the doctor to send a prescription here to Omaha. After sitting there in your emergency room for six I think hours he is in pain and does not want to go sit in another emergency room but I guess that’s what we will have to do to get the pain meds. If I am there again and need a hospital I’ll surely will not come to Mercy hospital

Wish I could give negative. The doctors are horrible they don’t care about your pain. They just want you out as soon as possible they don’t care if you are hurting or not I’ve been here hearing people scream from the pain and they won’t do anything but give them a tramadol. Pathetic excuses for doctors should not have there degrees and this is coming from a 21 year old. I’m

There was a rude lady ( she had orange red/ ginger hair and it looked like she had an under cut ) at the front desk at the ER. Her and some security guard were being very rude and laughing at this older man because he wanted to report an assault ( from what i heard) whether he wanted to or not They did not need to be so rude and laugh at him. She was saying things like “ that made me chuckle” “ I had to laugh” and the security guard was just there laughing. When the cop was asking he was being very rude too, the older man had an accent and you could understand him if you tried to but the cop didnt and was very rude and didnt even give him a chance to talk.

Went to er because I was having difficulty breathing. Night shift nurses were more preoccupied with chatting at the nurses station with each other than being courteous or communicating with me. My boyfriend had to tie my gown closed and the blood tech had to readjust my blood pressure cuff so it wasnt on my elbow. The nurse that took my urine sample didnt even bother to ask if i needed a wheelchair and walked so quickly i had to guess where they went, while leaning on my boyfriends arm. She had to clean the toilet which was disgusting. The CT scanner had blood on the speakers and smeared into crevices. Only good point was the techs were nice and actually cared about my comfort and treated me like a human .Had to find my way to the exit without directions or assistance from the nurses.only good point of my visit was the techs.o ly reason I'm giving it 2 stars else it would be 0

If I could give negative stars I would. This place is the poorest excuse for a hospital ive ever seen or heard of in my life. If you have any type of medical emergency right now, it's best to go to Omaha or Sioux Falls. People are in the emergency room right now with serious medical problems. They claim they have no beds available. The truth of the matter is, they recently had a walk-out of all of the traveling nurses and have no staff to take care of the patients. After talking to a few of the remaining staff they told us Mercy one would not pay them what was agreed upon in their contracts. ALL OF THEM stating " this is the worst hospital I've ever worked in." I'm sickened and appalled by the lack of professionalism as well as the blatant disregard for the well-being of people. People need to know how bad this place really is.

My mother is diabetic and had an overnight stay after a surgery. She takes her insulin before sleep and staff here would not give her her prescription of overnight insulin.. Unfortunately, she had to come to tears in front of the nurse in order for her to contact the doctor. (This was after multiple instances of asking for her nightly medication) My mother followed proper protocol to forward a complaint. The letter she received was below par. -Investigation findings: The investigation contributed multiple factors to the clients higher than normal levels of Glucose, including the administration of prescribed steroids as part of the procedural treatment plan I am genuinely confused on how someone can be administered prescription without regard for their medical records? How is the status of their condition not monitored after something like this is administered? -Hospital policy does not permit the use of a patients prescription from home, but we are able to duplicate it our pharmacy. Required to beg for your nightly insulin as a 50 year old diabetic because they wont allow you to take your OWN medication is mind bending. My takeaway from all of this is that I think it’s crazy to have one of your clients seriously concerned for their health while located in a hospital. I would be concerned to show up to this hospital in complete health.

Absolute horrible staff! Uncaring and unprofessional and should be ashamed of themselves for being in healthcare. My dad is currently in the hospital there and needs his dialysis. No one has bothered to give it to him or even tell him when he will be getting it. The machines go off for hours at a time with no one checking them. He needed to use the restroom and he called for help….NOONE!! He had to attempt to go on his own and wasn’t able to make it there. He then asked for a bag to put his wet clothes in and they just ignored him! I wouldn’t even take my dog to this place and I would do anything to get my dad out of there right now.

Last night was our 1st time to this ER in decades. The updates make the atmosphere so much nicer and cleaner, and provides a calmer atmosphere. But, the real reason for my review is that the staff was absolutely WONDERFUL to us, particularly my husband (the patient). Everyone was kind and compassionate of his emergency and he was stabilized quickly. Obviously an ER can get pretty rowdy in a hurry, but his nurse and doctor were still patient and attentive. Thank you all. We wasted so much time elsewhere before we came here. Hopefully we wont have to return, but if so, we will use this ER next time.

I just called to talk to the on call doctor because I had a horrible nightmare I have P TSD and the woman who answered said, "they open in 5 minutes can't you wait?!" I'll never call again. I mean that. I'll never hire them or call them infact I'm going to change my Dr now so I don't have to do business with "Mercy" EVER AGAIN

My husband had a heart attack while 10+ hours away from home. When they found out he was by himself they started lying to us about his condition. Telling us his blood pressure was high (128/87) feeding him suger and carbs to elevate his blood sugar into 300's so they could give him Insulin shots, saying he couldn't get out of bed to use thee bathroom, put in a pace maker and then removed it the next day when we asked them why they had done it. They refused to send his doctors any of the tests or records. Then they said they would only release him vis airlift for $22k dollars. He had to.sign himself out to be able to ride home with our daughter and to the hospital where his normal cardiologist was . It was just awful experience.

Place is trash. Corporate overworks their employees like selfish oblivious overlords. That leads to subpar quality care. The nurses are amazing, but they can't help that Corporate wants to sacrifice quality in favor of profits.

The best adjective I can use and remain professional is "dysfunctional". No staff, no call backs, ask to leave a message??, nope! Transferred me to TRIAGE.....yes TRIAGE!

Upon arrival we told the people at the desk what was wrong, they then left my girlfriend in the waiting room vomitting. We've now been sitting in the room for almost 2 hours listening to employees gossip with each other in the hallway while waiting for pain meds to find out we had been forgotten about. This is absurdly unprogressional and unorganized.

I had an extended stay at Club Mercy One 😉 I had to have emergency Colon surgery (took two feet) and was up on the 8th floor for four days. I have to say I was very pleased with ALL of the nurses and other staff that took care of me. They were all very nice and never left me waiting long if I needed something. I wish I could have told them all thank you! All of you on that floor rock! Keep up the good work!!! Danielle L.

Believe all the negative reviews, please, for your life's sake. I don't know how the ER department is even open. Absolutely horrible staff, the nurse was ridiculously rude and uncaring. The doctor had no bedside manner. He was cold like a robot and I saw him a total of 2 minutes, not even, the whole time I was there. They don't care about what is going on with you. You'll wait for hours before being seen and trust me, I was the only patient there when I was there I'm not kidding. Give you meds without even telling you what they're giving you. The med they gave me messed me up for months on end. I already have a mental predisposition, I voiced that I "didn't feel right" after it was given to me, I asked what was given to me, the doctor did tell me and I was told "oh that med can make people feel doomy" .. WHAT?! How absolutely absurd! Why would you just be giving people a med that possibly make them feel like they're dying?! They absolutely didn't care. I felt worse coming out than going in! This one trip to Mercy also triggered a bout of going to the doctor over and over and multiple trips to the St. Lukes ER for about 2 months. I had no idea what was going on with me. It was horrible. I was weak, felt like I was going to faint constantly, I felt like I was dying! Over one miniscule med I was given. Please stay away. Scary just giving people meds that they can possibly have a horrible mental AND physical reaction to and then if they do, you guys absolutely don't care. They gave me "Benadryl" which did absolutely nothing for the "doomy" feeling besides make it worse and make me feel worse! To this day I still will not touch Benadryl because of this visit and it's been 5 years! If I even see Benadryl I cringe. Insane. I still have PTSD from it so much so I always ask what I'm being given! I'm scared to have doctors give me any drug now that I don't know unless I google it first or have had it before and know how I react to it! I wouldn't even send bugs here. PLEASE go to St. Lukes, Sioux Falls or even Omaha if you can. Tell them to send your loved one somewhere else if they're being picked up in an ambulance. Stay away from here! Mine blowing this place is still open and they even had money to renovate!

Went for MRA. The bed/slab was to small for me, They didn't care that I was leaning one way. The music was way to loud. I kept SCREAMING to get their attention to turn it down. They have no intercom to talk or listen to the patient. The staff was NOT attentive at all. I would be scared to have ANYONE go to this place. The staff yelled at me, I couldn't stay still. I was falling off the slab. My arm was on the track. It scraped every time the slab moved. This was on the first it is now the seventh, my elbow still has a scab and continues to feel raw.
