This is a good monument to the horrible tragedy of United flight 232. Unfortunately the tragedy was broadcast live on television in 1989 and I witnessed it as it happened. I felt I needed to visit the sight and it was adequate. However, I was disappointed I was not able to see a list of those that perished in the catastrophe. I understand this monument is dedicated to that that helped save lives and rescue those that were hurt. But, I was still disappointed. I looked throughout the grounds and could not find a plaque listing the victims names. I hope I can eventually find that or hope it will be added someday to this monument. If I'm informed I just missed what I was looking for I certainly will revise my rating.

A memorial to the victims of the 1989 United Flight 232 crash and a monument to the tremendous response and rescue efforts from the people of "Siouxland." It's in a lovely park next to the Missouri River with ample parking. It's a short, easy, paved walk to the monument. There was a TV movie that was released in 1992 named "Crash Landing: The Rescue of Flight 232" that details the incident (alternatively titled "A Thousand Heroes").

July 19th, 1989. Sioux City. United Airlines Flight number 232. Miraculous landing at the Sioux City Gateway airport -- without hydraulics to control the flight controls. Blessings on the families who lost loved ones. This memorial is a beautiful location on the Missouri River. Located near the Lewis & Clark Center, opposite the river from Marina Inn & Kahill's restaurant. To the flight crew & captain of this ship, you did a superb job of saving lives. BZ.

The memorial highlighted Sioux City’s response and rescue efforts in Flight 232. I felt like it could have done better with highlighting the actual event and the people who experienced it. However, it was clean and well kept. I just think they should add a bit more on the actual event and people in the airplane.

It's much nicer having a monument here then the one at the airport. Any monument of a plane crash at an airport is rather off-putting. Even though the crash happened miles away at the airport, it is still a good monument, and less likely to give the jeebies to people who just want to take a plane ride.

I thought it was really nice! The only thing is that the monument is kind of in a forgotten place so most people will never know it exists. Also there is no list of names of the victims which I think would be nice.

Very nice memorial and good place relate to family if you just want to have a little picnic or something as long as it's not underwater
