This review is about the cabins. Stayed in cabin 3. You can make a reservation far in advance - i think 9 months. Our first time and pleasantly surprised. We wanted a deluxe cabin but those get reserved quickly. Our standard cabin was c3. 1 firm queen sized mattress bed and 2 twin beds in bunkbed formation. Bring your own bedding and pillows. In the cabin. There is a small table, 2 chairs and a bench. A small microwave and small fridge/freezer, bedside table with lamp. There is a heater. There are 2 accessible outlets. 1 near the fridge that makes the lighting go wonky if you plug anything into it. 1 outlet under the table. The windows have screens and blinds and curtains. Outside there is a porch swing for 2 facing away from the view. There is a picnic table, a BBQ and fire pit with standard half grill. You can buy firewood from ranger or camp host for $7 during our visit. You have 1 designated parking spot. There is a shared bathroom a short walk away with toilet paper and paper towels. There is a pay shower 50 cents for 3 minutes taking quarters only. I thought the bathrooms were kept up very well considering the rainy weather and the number of people using the facilities during our busy weekend. Our site faced the water. You have a view of the bay through the trees and can see the refinery. There is a side view of sunset but you have to go to the beach to see it better. It was rainy and cold during our memorial day weekend stay. We weren't super prepared because this was our first time to this site. We were still able to enjoy time around the fire with protective trees despite the rain. Our neighbors were quite noisy but it didn't bother us. The campsite is actually next to the road and you can hear the road traffic. The welcoming ranger was very nice. The ranger station and the camp host were not always readily available but that also didn't affect how we felt about our stay. We highly recommend this place.

We loved this state park, whether it’s for a day trip or camping overnight. There is a trail as well and you can walk around the beach if the bay. At night the skyline looks beautiful. We did RV camping here and we had a great experience. It wasn’t over crowded and they have cabins as well which are very cozy. Definitely worth the trip and would visit again if we get reservation for summer 😉

This probably is the smallest state park in washington 25 acres size). The camping area too seems closer with decent privacy. The beach has lot of colorful pebbles. Nice place to go.

Great campground. We stayed here for three nights. The sites were big and had really nice new picnic tables. The washrooms were clean and they had hot water for showers at no extra cost. There is a little store attached to the check-in where you can get ice and firewood. I would say I was a little surprised that they were allowing fires given the state we are in and we didn't have one. The campground was very busy so there were a couple of nights where people were a little louder than we would have liked but overall everyone seemed friendly and having fun. There are a ton of plug-in sites though we weren't able to get one for our stay. The beach is really amazing though and the water is definitely warm enough for swimming. I would have hoped that it was a little bit of a shorter walk but overall not too bad. You do have to be conscious of your timing for going down of the tides, especially if you want to swim as the tide goes out really far and it is a mud flat so you can't walk out on it. Catch it when the tide is on the way in and you will definitely enjoy it. Great for flying kites too!

If you are camping here then ensure you visit the beach twice because the water level changes a lot. Evening you will see it full like a high tide and in morning it will show up all the mud and weeds underneath it. Yet, the rocky beach looks beautiful. The oil refinery at the far end provides an interesting background to the sole wooden log on the beach for your Instagram pics. Campground is decent with lots of space and clean restrooms, rangers make multiple rounds. There were lots of bunnies and even tiny mices but we did not have any issue with our stay(tent, food..).

Beautiful and amazing. Has access to water, there are restrooms nearby. You will need a discover pass to park or pay $10 for day use.

What a great oart to visit! We loved walking the shore looking for rocks, seeing the sky as it was headed towards evening and it was incredible. Bring a coat, the wind was chilly when we were there in winter coming right off the water. Good place for kids too of course! Great place to have a picnic!

Nice quiet campground with easy access to the Anacortes ferry early in the morning. Went in to Laconner, about 15 minutes away, where there is a Costco, a Walmart, and much more.

Really nice cabins for a state park! Mini fridge, good heater and microwave. Really excellent view. Only draw back is the showers are coin operated.

This is a lovely park! The first set of RV sites (starting at 1) are set back from the rest of the Park and have views of Padilla Bay. The main RV sites are around a large grass circle on which a few games are set up. Kids biked around the circle and thru the tent campsite loops which are more wooded. We stayed in paired sites 58 and 59 which one must book together and there was barely room for the wheelchair lift on my van. The sites are listed as partial sun, but we had sun almost all day and plenty to power up our batteries with the two solar panels. The disabled RV site, 14, had lots of room for the lift and was nice and level. They were rehabbing the plants during our stay so there wasn't much privacy between sites. The rangers and volunteers were super nice as were our fellow campers. Bathrooms were clean even on the weekends when the park was at capacity. The loop around the main RV sites is paved. The other roads are gravel and I needed my freewheel to navigate in my manual wheelchair. The beach is across the street, and unfortunately the beach trail has stairs / is not accessible. The other campers told me the Bay was warm and swimming lovely but that I could not access it in my chair. I had decent cell service (LTE, no 5G) with T-Mobile and Verizon and was able to work, although video calls glitched a bit. Weekends were pretty raucous so if you're looking for peace I'd book a weekday stay.

Love this campground. Beautiful sunsets, so incredibly close to the beach and perfect for kids. We had one of the RV sites with electricity and water and it was perfect for us.

This is a pretty little Park. They have a nice Beach area to watch the sunset. If you go later in the day they may have some campsite cancellations. That's what we did. We pulled our 30 ft motorhome in there and they had a list of available campsites. We put our money in an envelope and spent the night and watched the sunset on the Puget Sound. It was a very nice night.

The campground is in a flight path, so jets fly over all day long. Campsites are extremely small for travel trailers over 10-15 ft. Small beach area to walk.

Easy access to Anacortes, Bellingham, and Mt Baker. Clean bathrooms, showers are 50¢ for 3 minutes. The Ranger's booth had ice and firewood. Over all, very nice! And don't be alarmed by the siren - there's a fire department nearby.

This is now one of my favorite camping destinations on the West side of the mountains. Park and camping spots are kept clean, nice rocky beach with a TON of little critters for the kids to explore, and camping spots have good privacy. Also, all the blackberries you can eat when they are in season.

In the tiny little village of Bay view lies this hidden gem. It's a great base camp for exploring beautiful Whidbey island, Anacortes & La Conner. No, your not going to find a swimming pool or a hot tub. What you will find are sites that provide a nice bit of privacy and a lovely view of Padilla bay. There's also a paved road ( and steps from the park) that will get you closer to the bay for picnicking, kite flying, or just some alone time. This was our first time here, but definitely not our last!

It's a real nice state park. Good location. Camping area is not on the beach but the access is good. Beach area is nice with picnic tables and some cover. About 15 minutes to Anacortes if you want to shop or go out to dinner. Some airplane noise from nearby municipal airport. I would like to recognize the Rick who is a volunteer at the park. He is a marine veteran and very friendly.

Nice little place. Am a little disappointed that it was not mentioned in the state parks website that there is no water, other parks were advertised as such. Also, some sites are hooked up to water??

We enjoyed camping at Bayview. There's a wide variety of campsites with different levels of privacy. We stayed in one on the main loop. There's a huge grassy area that was great for the kids to play, and it was easy for us to keep an eye on them. The bathrooms were clean and convenient. We only had two regrets. The first was not bringing the kids' bikes, because there were lots of other kids riding around the loop. The second was accidentally leaving a trash bag on our picnic table when we went to bed. We woke up around 4am to the sound of it being shredded and dragged away by a raccoon. It's a short walk down to the rocky beach, which has nice views across the point toward Fidalgo point.

Love this park and campground. The camp sites are very open but they are great and well kept. The bathroom/showers are cleaned at least daily during the times that I've stayed at the campground. Lots of wildlife; bald eagles, owls, different kinds of water fowl, squirrels, racoons and all sorts of fun stuff. Love visiting state parks.

This was a fun State Park to explore and watch all the seagulls fly away with crabs. I stole one from a seagull after it landed. The crab caught a clam, and then the seagull caught the crab, and then I chased away the seagull and got the crab haha. I tried to save the crab and put him back in the water but the poor thing wasn't moving too well so I thought it was suffering and gave it back to the seagull to finish him off. The lookout tower was a fun addition, and since the weather was overcast, I had it all to myself.

This is a lovely beach area where you can walk along the shore. There is also a large area of grass and a few tables where you can picnic in warmer weather. If you have a Discovery Pass, the $10.00 parking fee is waived.

Kitesurfing at Bay View State Park I spent some time at Bay View State Park, it is a popular spot for kitesurfing, offering consistent winds and protected waters. The park is on Padilla Bay, which is a large estuary protected from the open ocean. This makes for calm and predictable conditions, ideal for kitesurfing of all levels. The best time to kitesurf at Bay View State Park is during the winter months, when the winds are strongest and most consistent. The launch and landing area at Bay View State Park is on a sandy beach, which is easy to access and navigate. The water depth is shallow, which makes it a good spot for beginners. Great place to bring lunch and spend the day watching the Kitesurfers or beach walking. Bay View State Park Bay View, WA 9.30.2023

A very nice place. Quiet, shady and allows privacy. It is not noticeable that it was full. In the center of the circle there is a large lawn that allows children to play. Walking distance from the ocean. A quiet beach, with a beautiful view

Fantastic park with phenomenal views of the bay. Really great place to take an RV. Nice open spaces near the bay as well as in the state park. The only odd thing was that there are people living (homes) right next to the park. There is nothing wrong with it and there is no disturbance, but there are a lot of city lights as well as it’s odd to have people so close to a state park. Highly recommend going there in the summer even for a day trip. We went in winter and it was raining all the time with a lot of wind

This is a very small campground. There are 3 loops (1 large with no hookups, 1 medium with electric/water, 1 very small with electric/water. There is also a cabin area. The cabins and small loop have views of the water. There is a huge field in the middle of the medium loop which is awesome for those with kids as you can see them from almost any site in this loop if your car isn't blocking your view from your site. The sites are really small in most of the medium loop. We stayed in #26 which I would not recommend due to small size and being unlevel. There is a small walk to the beach area across the road which is nice to hang out at. Not a swimming beach. More of a rocky beach. Overall, I would stay at this park again if there weren’t openings at other parks that I favor more.
