A
quiet,
forested
nice
park
in
the
loud
and
busy
centre.
Thoroughly
changed
ten
years
ago
by
the
addition
of
new
lights
and
statues.
It
sits
opposite
of
the
Parliament
building,
an
interesting
building,
and
on
the
other
side
are
a
few
entrances
to
GTZ,
a
shopping
centre
built
in
the
1980s.
I
find
it
sad
that
many
trees
were
cut
down
in
order
to
build
the
statues.
Nevertheless,
it
is
still
a
great
park.
Opposite
of
the
Parliament
building
is
a
statue
of
Prometheus
in
a
fountain.
This
one,
like
almost
all
others
is
a
new
statue
from
around
ten
years
ago.
The
statue
was
originally
naked,
though,
after
a
controversy,
it
was
reshaped
and
now
wears
pants.
Behind
Prometheus
is
a
large
marble
arch
with
a
path
leading
to
an
eternal
fire
(which
is
ironic,
because
the
fire
hasn't
been
burning
for
years).
The
path
then
leads
to
a
tall
single
column
with
an
angel
on
top.
On
the
right
of
the
bizarre
monument
is
the
monument
of
the
founders
of
the
ASNOM
committee.
The
statue
shows
people
standing
around
a
man
delivering
a
speech.
The
other
side
of
the
Prometheus
monument
is
decorated
with
a
statue
similar
to
the
ASNOM
monument.
This
one
is
dedicated
to
the
founders
of
IMRO
(a
political
organisation
founded
in
1893,
now
a
centre
right/right
wing
party).
It
consists
of
several
men
kneeling
on
the
floor
looking
at
a
book
with
a
revolver
and
a
knife
on
it.
Then
about
20
meters
left
of
that
is
the
statue
of
Pitu
Guli,
a
local
hero,
on
a
horse.
Next
to
it
is
an
older
plaque
honoring
Nevena
Georgievska
Dunja,
a
partisan
who
died
in
world
war
II
at
age
18.
Continuing
on
the
left,
there
is
a
path
leading
to
an
old
fountain/monument
to
child
migrants.
To
the
right
of
the
path
is
a
new
statue
of
Pjeter
Bogdani,
a
famous
albanian
writer
from
the
17th
century.
To
the
left
of
the
path
is
the
also
new
statue
of
Kuzman
Josifovski
Pitu,
a
partisan.
At
last
there
is
a
statue
for
the
fighters
of
the
2001
conflict
in
Macedonia.
There
is
also
a
statue
of
Taras
Shevchenko
and
another
poet.
The
trees
are
big
and
wonderful.
A
great
park
to
visit
to
cool
off
in
summer
after
shopping
or
after
taking
a
walk.
