I have to say that the food here was very average at best. I don’t understand the amazing reviews. The appetizer plate was interesting and had some new things we tried but the rabbit was a bit firm and overall just ok. The service was very cold. Although we mentioned it was our anniversary, there was no reaction at all.

Dinner at Ta' Kris was awesome. The vibe was cozy, and the staff made us feel right at home. Now, let's talk about the grub – we went for the rabbit sauce spaghetti and snails in tomato and wine sauce, and it was a flavor party! The rabbit sauce spaghetti were delicious and different. Imagine perfectly cooked pasta smothered in this rich, savory rabbit goodness. And those snails? Don't be scared – they're swimming in this tomato and wine sauce that's so good, you'll wanna lick the plate, great appetizer. Ravioli were tasty but nothing special. The whole place screams Maltese charm. The restaurant was recommended to us by a few locals and we did right by going there. Ta' Kris is the spot to soak up the real taste of Malta.

Charming atmosphere, super nice staff, except for the one who takes reservations and checks everyone in (possibly the owner). Adhering to COVID-19 guidelines and procedures is superb but no need to be so harsh on your staff and customers who enter the restaurant. Booking online was also bit awkward, as they asked to call them back instead of confirming the reservation. Nonetheless, the atmosphere was really cozy and food was good.

Really nice place to relax in the evening and relax with a good meal, cozy location on a side pathway in central Sliema. Great selection of delicious Maltese foods though they felt like they had been left out a little bit. Regardless, still delicious and may have been fresher on a different night. Staff are super friendly too and knowledgeable of the food. Great place, worth a visit.

Is there a waitress? Do not go there We were waiting for a waitress for 12 minutes and there were not a lot of people. After she came we ordered drinks. She was rude and bored. After another 15 minutes we did not get the drinks came manager and asked us about order it turned out she forgot about order and did not even wrote it down. It was to frustrating that we were really hungry, after more time waiting we stood up and quit the restaurant. Dont go there !

I had a bittersweet feeling about this restaurant. It was often referred to as a great restaurant serving good Maltese food, and in fact I confirmed that, everything was great and I felt like a local eating. However, the employees/owner were unfriendly, and as I hadn't booked, they almost ignored me, it was difficult to have dinner the day I went. I tried to come back another day, and they wouldn't listen to me because I didn't have a reservation. I strongly advise you to make a reservation, expect good food, but no friendliness.

My most favourite local restaurant in town! The foods are authentically cooked, the price is fair, the people are friendly and professional. We were almost everyday there for dinner during our stay in Sliema. The Valletta white wine is a highlight.

Wow what a wonderful experience! If you want to try the local cuisine this is surely one of the best places as I can’t imagine the food being any better anywhere else! Try and book, but we got lucky as a couple and they had one table left! After ordering a local bottle of wine we received a full breakdown of the local chef specialties for the day. Complimentary Maltese bread and a garlic/bean dip that had no right to be as good as it was. Starters of sheep cheese and local battered fish was a meal in itself. The sauces on both were exquisite, both served also with a delicious fresh salad and dressing. I don’t like sheep cheese normally, at all, but this proved me wrong. The chef is a miracle worker. For mains, we ordered the rabbit and the local fish trio. And there aren’t enough words to describe how rich and tasty that rabbit stew sauce was. This is, I think, the only time a waiter has encouraged me to eat with my hands. I was amazed at the portion size and didn’t think rabbits could get that big. The local fish trio was seasoned to perfection, equally the vegetables were roasted beautifully. The presentation and fresh peppering by the waiter made us feel like royalty. Worthy of a few pictures! The plate was nothing but a small pile of rabbit bones by the end. While we were soaking in the atmosphere and the wine, the waiter brought us a complimentary Maltese liqueur ‘Leila’ which was slightly bitter with a sweet aftertaste. No anis flavour, delightful; and it helped our stomachs squeeze in some dessert. We were presented with a pretty array of local biscotti, pastries, nougat and ice cream. The hot date-filled pastry mixed with the ice cream had me grinning like an idiot. Thinking about it again this morning makes me shake my head in disbelief. It was that good. After a 2 hour, full 4 course meal with a bottle of wine, 2 bottles of water for 2 people, the price was under 3 digits. Absolutely incredible value and it was a pleasure to give a tip. Overall the food and service were simply top-notch. Do not miss out on this if you are even slightly curious about trying out the local Maltese cuisine. Thanks for an incredible evening!

We made a reservation, we wouldn't have got in otherwise. Very popular and I can see why. Staff were extremely friendly. Large drinks compared to other places. The food was homemade and tasty. The owner is actually a chef in the kitchen so you are guaranteed perfection. Rabbit was slow cooked and fall off the bone and the gravy was very rich and perfect. The potatoes were crisp on the the outside but fluffy on the inside. It went perfectly with the sauce/gravy you had. The expensive beef fillet was actually well worth the money. Well worth the money in that there was not an ounce of fat on it, extremely tender and sauce was out of this world. The beef fillet was enough for one person so don't worry about the price tag putting you off otherwise. Wine was nice, 3 euro a glass. Will recommend and would come back again (if I lived in Malta).

Great restaurant placed in Sliema, Malta. They had the AC on, which is a great thing since the weather in Malta is very warm. It is a typical Maltese restaurant and all the products were tasty and nice. The staff spoke English well and were very helpful. The prices are high, but it is worth it. We will come back, definitely!

The food was very good. Fast service. Kind people, except the fact that they were kind of a hurry all the time to manage to fill more tables quickly. But the food was excellent. I recommend the ravioli and the tuna tartare if it is available. Prices for main are from 15 euros. The portions are fine.

Ordered Bragioli and Rabbit (with red wine gravy). Both tasted fantastic. There were two ladies serving. A taller lady was friendly and helpful but the other one wasn’t really nice (no eye contact at all, asking nothing at our table but other ones). I have to rate it with 4 stars as I felt uncomfortable with it. But the food was great!

We were looking for a typical Maltese restaurant and found out that this one was the most recommended one in Sliema! We tried to go twice but each time it was full, so I would recommend you to call and book before your table ☻ The food is ok, and the waitresses know perfectly all the dishes, so recommendations are welcomed 🤝 The place is hidden in a small street, but thanks to that there’s not too much noise! Place to try!

Great restaurant with local food. If you want to taste Maltese cuisine, you have to come here. The menu includes seafood, meat dishes, vegetables and potatoes, all washed down with great local wine. Service very nice. The food is delicious. I highly recommend!

The food we tried there was good but heavy, especially the sauces. Maltese ravioli as starter was a nice idea, for main dishes we bet on octopus stew and rabbit. The rabbit tasted better then the stew but be aware that separating the meat from the bones involves a lot of work. Octopus was fine, served with potatoes, olives and vegetables in the stew. We were recommended red wine which was fantastic

Absolutely fantastic! From booking online and quick email confirmation to my warm & friendly greeting at the door. An extensive Maltese menu with fantastic staff. Bebbux (snail) for starter and two layer veal escalope stuffed with bacon. A half bottle of local white wine. A meal nothing short of perfect 👌🏼

  • 5/5 Bente N. 2 years ago on Google
Don’t let the cheap price fool you in ordering several dishes. Unless you haven’t eaten in 3 days, a main is more than enough. That being said, you don’t want to miss out on the local bread. A mix between French rudeness and great food. Not to be missed, but make a pre booking, these people are popular for a great reason.

  • 5/5 Nam N. 2 years ago on Google
Came here 3 times on our trip. Everything was amazing. Had the rabbit, sea bass, ravioli, and chicken breast. Only criticism is the side vegetables and potatoes are very mediocre but the main part of the dish always excelled. The complimentary dip that came with the bread is also amazing. Great speedy service. Cant recommend enough.

Tucked away up a side alley, you won’t find this by accident. Very authentic restaurant located in an old bakery. Informal dining at its best, with local dishes and local people. The staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive, the food was wonderful. I had the goats cheese followed by the veal escalopes. We are returning in a few days …..

  • 5/5 Minna V. 2 years ago on Google
Excellent service, the staff were all very attentive and great at describing each of the dishes in detail. The food was tasty as well - we ordered the beef stew in tomato sauce and lamb shank. Perfect for when you want to experience Maltese cuisine.

A perfect balance between quality, service, price, and food. If you want to get a real Maltese food experience you need to go to that place. They are serving generous portions, you will find local cheese, charcuterie, and wine. We paid 53€ for 2 bottles of local wine, a tasting platter, and 2 main course dishes. Affordable and delicious, I can't wait to come back and try more of their specialties.

The food is amazing. We tried 1919 red and white wine. Went there in our first and last night in Malta. It didn’t disappoint us. Lorna is an absolutely fantastic waitress.

We went to the restaurant on the advice of a local. It is a very popular restaurant. We were lucky to get a table for two straight away. Many people were turning up after us and had to wait. Bookings definitely a good idea. We had an amazing meal. Service was fantastic. Highly recommend this place

Traditional Maltesian tavern in a very beautiful alley close to Sliema port. We tried all the locals dishes and everything was delicious. The wine and the desserts worth to try them. Friendly family stuff. I will visit again for sure

The restaurant was full, the first of two sittings, and that in itself indicative of the meal to come. We were not let down the trio of fish was excellent and the pasta dish very tasty. The only « complaint « was there was too much ! The quality and the pleasure of the meal caused us to book for the next night - go there - it’s worth it

Fantastic traditional food in a relaxed environment. We loved all that we ate. Rabbit pasta was a standout as well as the traditional desserts. Friendly place, they don’t hesitate to explain the Maltese dishes to you. Reservation required.

We ordered a traditional Maltese platter for a starter then a rabbit stew with vegetables and octopus pasta as the main dish. All was delicious. The waiters were very polite and helpful. I definitely recommend the restaurant.

  • 5/5 Georgios E. 9 months ago on Google
Very traditional restaurant in Sliema. Reservation is recommended since it is usually very busy, especially during the summer. The Maltese plate is worth a try. The rabbit stew was amazing but it comes with the bones so be prepared to use your hands. Very cheap and great wines.

Really great restaurant that we found randomly searching through multitudes of restaurants in Malta , we went there they were full we had to wait like 40 min , but was worth it ,( I recommend booking in advice if you don’t was endings up waiting outside) totally worth the wait , we had they’re menu for 25£ included pasta with rabbit sous as a starter but the plate was so full as a main 😀 after we got another big plate with slow cooked rabbit in wine , it was delicious we could not finished it so we took it home with us , plus a traditional dessert all included in €25 menu each. Feels very local place not like other touristic restaurants. P.s the only thing that i did not like was the vegetables , as they where just steamed and not so tasty.

We didn't enjoy 100% our experience. Waiters could be more friendly and food was not what we expected. Pasta was too salty. Rabbit was good and restaurant decoration is authentic.

Was looking for the place with Maltese food celebrating our marathon. Reviews were good and all was true! We were treated like Royalty, the service was 5 star and the food was amazing. The size of portions was very generous. This was a wonderful evening of our celebration and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you 😊

We were here twice. The first visit was absolutely excellent. Amazing food and wine. My wife had a sea beam and I had the octopus spaghetti. The second time was not as good as the first. We both had the seafood spaghetti. First they came cold. They were brought back to the kitchen and they came back warm. Excellent service. Sadly the spaghetti were really boring and just not good, at least they were in no way comparable to the quality we were served the other day. We were told that there was a different cook that day. Anyhow, the starters were excellent on both occasions and we will definitely give the Ta' Kris another chance.

We’d tried to book by calling them for one week, there was no answer. So we visited there as soon as they were open and the staff looked surprised and checked the time 😂 Although we felt not welcomed, it was good to try Maltese food. The decoration for Christmas season was so nice. I loved it even way more than their food. Especially the colour palette giving warm and bright vibe. I could see so much effort on it. Considering its popularity, it would be a good idea to make a reservation system on their website.

A must visit in Malta and do remember to come with an empty stomach. Traditional Maltese food with a large portion and very tasty. Had rabbit and sea bass which are superb in taste. And just like any other reviews. The staff could just put more of a smile instead of a straight face. Still good service though.

Authentic Maltese restaurant. Great daily specials are good value. Each dish explained by staff. Might get warm sat inside the main restaurant so we would book one of their tables in the alleyway on a hot night. We just managed to squeeze in at 8.45 on a thursday. Better to book. Bread is complimentary and wonderful
