A great experience. The guide, Martin, was very very good and funny as well. He shared a lot of knowledge with a lot of humor. He knows the job very well. There's absolutely no way to gain a glimpse of the info without a guide. The whole day was very well organized. I highly recommend Traventuria based on three successful trips.

I booked a private guide to take me birdwatching at Lake Kerkini and I am a very happy customer. My guide was waiting for me when I left my hostel. He was very friendly and knew the area and the birds very well. He went above and beyond to show me birds and the beautiful landscape. And during the drive we had very interesting conversation. Thanks, Tisho for a wonderful day.

We booked two trips with Traventuria. Everything was great with the company. I initially had problems when booking online since I had to switch the dates and the online portal didn’t allow me. Had to go in person to the office. Very close location and friendly staff. After the initial hiccup everything went smoothly. One tour was to Plovdiv. Martin was a great travel guide. Historical knowledge and funny personal and local stories. He made the trip memorable The city is wonderful. Highly recommend this company and this day trip. The other tour was to Rila monastery and Boyana church. Again our guide Liubomir was excellent. A young proud Bulgarian who clearly wanted us to learn the history about the county. He narrated stories beyond the places we visited. The monastery is a must see. Recommend to bring your sandwiches but must eat the sweet donuts they sell outside the monastery.

We took the day tour to Plovdiv and it was amazing. Maria, our guide was very interactive, knowledgeable and funny. She kept us engaged throughout the tour and was also happy to give us recommendations for food and stuff we could do on our free time. Our driver (if I remember correctly, Tuder) was also super nice. Would definitely recommend doing the tour with the team.

Did the Rila 7 Lakes guided tour yesterday and really enjoyed it!! The company was very professional and timely, from pick up to drop off. The shuttle was spacious and clean, the driver Marin drove well and safely. Big thank you to our friendly and helpful guide Lubomir for a relaxed and fun hike while providing information about the lakes along the way! Highly recommend using this company if you are planning on visiting the 7 Lakes.

Martin was a fantastic guide and Tour was well worth the money. Tour started on time and Martin did not eliminate any of the tour, knowledgable and was thorough (while some tours will eliminate some of the points of interest to save time). Thanks for a great time!

We went to Rila Monastery with Maria as our guide. It was a great experience. The tour was completely understandable in English and the explanations were very interesting. We recommend to go there. From Sofia to the monastery and the cave. Thanks again Maria, you are the best guide we could have. Pierre, Margot and Louise (the frenchies)

A highly recommended tour. It’s very interesting and well worth it. We visited the rose valley, the Shipka church and then we stopped for a meal. We then headed to the Buzludzha monument where we were able to also see stunning views. Our driver and guide was Martin and he was great. Definitely would recommend.

Just got back from Traventuria’s “The Seven Rila Lakes & Malyovitsa Peak ridge walk (2 days)” two day hiking trip. This was easily one of my favorite hiking trips and was absolutely not a route I would have been able to figure out on my own. My guide Peter was extremely knowledgeable, professional and friendly with every single person we encountered. He made this a fun, challenging, and exceptional trip. If you have an opportunity to see some of Bulgaria’s natural wonder with the help of a guide you should absolutely do it.

We did the Seven Rila Lakes Tour with Radi and Lachezar. The MOST STUNNING views and friendly and knowledgeable tour guides. They made the group really feel like a little family as we ascended together and encouraged you on the steep inclines no matter your ability. They gave opportunities to stop when you needed to take breaks and refill your water from the natural springs. Also shared their personalised knowledge to local recommendations for vegans and our future day trips around Sofia and Plovdiv. Would highly recommend as an essential for your trip! Would definitely recommend to wear comfy hiking boots. As well as bringing a good jacket as the weather can change throughout the hike.

Loved Plovdiv. Tour leader was knowledgeable and very pleasant. Only two little issues: 1. 4hrs free time in Plovdiv would have been better - 2hrs weren't enough. Tour ends early anyway. What's the point of coming back to Sofia at 5pm? Could have enjoyed Plovdiv longer. 2. The minivan's ac wasn't effective at all. Way too hot on the way back.

I had a really great time with our tour guide named Luco (Lachezar Gudev). I have been travelling to 70 countries, go on many tours, I can say that Luco is one of the best. He tried his best ensuring we enjoyed our time as much as possible throughout the journey and I honestly think he cares more about guest's satisfaction rather than money. I felt like I was doing the hike with a friend instead of a guide. After we arrived, those who chose to be on yourself like me will go on their own but will bump into the guide groups once a while. The paths are 90% clearly marked. I strongly suggest for anyone who wants to visit Seven Rila Lakes to take this tour rather than combining with the monastery. This tour will take you to go hiking on the scenic route (as you have more time) but the combined tour will takes you on a different route and not allowing you to climb up to the 7th lakes summit (time limitation).

Our family of 4 took a tour to Plovdiv and Koprivshtitsa and it was nothing short of spectacular! An excellent time we had. Our Tour guide, Lubomir, was kind, patient and shared a lot of facts and history about the destinations. We will definitely come back for the tour to Rila Lakes Monastery when next we visit Bulgaria. Keep up the good work.

An unforgettable experience thanks to Traventuria. An amazing trip to the 7 Rila Lakes in June 2022. The three great tour leaders - Radi, Simeon and Lachezar made our trip incredible. We really enjoyed the wonderful scenery and at all times they were extremely helpful and always ready to make this trip wonderful. If you are visiting Bulgaria it is a must to book tours with Traventuria. They take care of you from the beginning until the end. THE BEST

My family and I had really great experiences with Traventuria. All the guides were extremely nice, the places we visited we enjoyed so much as well. Our guide for Plovdiv and the Rila Monastery, Lubo, was very helpful and friendly! He gave us very interesting details of the places and made the trip fun.

My trip to Bulgaria was felt super completed with Taventuria's tours to Rila Monastery, Rila Mountains and lakes, and to the old city of Plavdiv! A special shout out to Lugo who has an amazing education in History and knew everything I wanted to learn about the changes of the area over time, food, musical instruments, and many other past cultural histories that have since been lost to time. I highly recommend if you visit Bulgaria to use this company and ask for Lugo specifically as you will never be disappointed!

We went on two day trips with Traventuria: Saturday to Rila Monastery, and Sunday to Plovdiv and Kopivshtitsa. Both tour guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. Their English was good. We learned about the geography, history, politics, religion, and modern life of Bulgaria while walking around the towns and enjoying the weather. The buses were clean and well-kept. I felt safe with the bus drivers, even on the twisty mountain road to Kopivshtitsa.

We took a a trip to Plovdiv day tour with Lubo, an excellent guide and who had an awesome sense of humor keeping the passengers entertained while heading to our destination. Lubo shared his wealth of knowledge explaining in detail the historical significance of each site and the ebbs and flows of Bulgarias place throughout history. I would certaainly recommend Lubo as a guide should one decide to take a tour with Traventuria.

Had a great tour with very knowledgeable guides. Was very easy to communicate and understand as an English speaker and the tour was very accommodating as there were multiple extra stops for multiple people that were able to happen. 10/10 experience

Excellent experience! We took the Rila Lakes and Rila Monastery day trip from Sofia. Enjoyed every moment of it. It's a must do for anyone visiting Sofia. Traventuria had been excellent. For a small group of around 15 people they had 2 dedicated tour guides along with a driver. Very affordable and would recommend it any day. Big thanks to Georgy & Radi

Just came back from a fantastic tour hosted by Lubomir Petkashev, who took us from Sofia to visit Plovdiv and Koprivshitsa. A good tour is good when the guide knows his history and manages the group well. Lubo goes above and beyond with lovely fun facts about Russian cars, answers “odd” questions about costs of living, and even gave me a list of places to visit myself for my upcoming visit. Well worth the price and thoroughly enjoyed my day, even with the rain. 5 stars.

We had two trips. Rila Monastry and Plovdiv. In both tours very kindly drivers. Philip and Todor. These drivers were also our guides. Helpfully - kind - knowing a lot. We had two wonderful days. Traventuria gives what they say.

We visited Rila Monastery and Boyana church which both are very interesting to visit. Boyana church is listed as a UNESCO heritage site with old frescoes still visible . Rila monastery has something special too probably the place and surrounding cause it is surrounded by mountains.

Booked the tour to Rila Monastery and Boyana Church through viator. Although the tour was comprehensive and thorough, the only drawback was the vehicle in which we were transported. It was a very old mini van with some of the seats broken and the seat belts didn't serve its purpose. For a two hour journey each way it was very uncomfortable. I hope they can improve on this.

Good people to sight see with. Safe, friendly, clean, on time and our guide RADI (the snow boarder) was simply awesome. Took two separate one day trips with them, to Plovdiv and 7 Lakes, both were great.

We had a great day tour to the Rila Cave and Monastery with a splendid guide Lubomir Botev of Traventuria. Learned so much old and new history and culture. The hike up to the Cave of St. Ivan Rilski was magical, cleansing and magnificent. We also got to rescue a tortoise from the road ! Lubo is an amazing guide, he is in a PhD program for Tourism and incredibly knowledgeable but also fun! Our whole family thought he was wonderful, including our teenager! We cannot recommend this tour highly enough - this is such a wonderful way to see not only the Monastery but the origin of it in the cave where St. Ivan spent time first. We also had a delightful lunch at a riverside cafe (see photo) It was a very special day and we felt that Lubo was part of the family at the end of it. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for a wonderful tour with the best guide Todo! Amazing experience, beautiful lakes, communication. Todo told us a lot of interesting things, helped us in everything, advised and supported us when our company was totally exhausted)) But we made it to the top of the mountain and we are very happy!!!

Genuinely one of the best travel experiences I ever had. I booked a day trip to the Boyana Church and Rila Monastery, both highly popular tourist stops. Not surprisingly, on their own merit, the didn't disappoint. The rich, unique history and profound beauty of each place already earns them top marks. Boyana impressed me because I knew so little about it, but Rila impressed me because it exceeded all expectations. Typing on a smartphone makes it a challenge to go on at too great lengths (and besides, I'm sure the goal here is to make you want to go), but I'll limit my comments about the destinations to a handful of points. Boyana is remarkable for its unique art, its unique architecture and the fact that Tsar Ferdinand's second wife, Eleanor (a remarkable woman) is buried there. Nothing I saw prepared me for how remarkable Rila Monastery is. The art inside and out of the church is amazing, and there's so much more. Don't skip the museum with the insanely detailed carved cross. But as said at the outset, these sights are tops on tourist lists for a good reason. I not only want to recommend these sights but to recommend Traventuria. My guide was named Lubo, and I'll quote what she said about Lubo: "You're better than Wikipedia!" Lubo filled the journey with volumes worth of information, and he did so effortlessly. He wasn't just reciting a script (or if he was, then give this man an Oscar). It was apparent that he was/is passionate about his country and its history. He didn't confine his discussion to just the travel destinations; he expounded about all things Bulgarian. It was a delightful day out with a knowledgeable friend, whom I had just met. I can't recommend this tour enough. If you come to Sofia for a few days, do seek out the services of Traventuria.

We just returned from a tour to Rila Monastery and Boyana Church with them and the guide (Lugo, I think?) was really good, he explained everything really well, we picked us from our hotel on time, and everything went without any hiccups. Highly recommended, we we booked our tour on GetYourGuide but you can find them as well on TripAdvisor.

Hi, We went to Boyana Church and Rila Monastery last Saturday with yourselves - it was booked by Inter-continental (on our behalf). I am just reaching out to let you know that we had an amazing day, we really enjoyed both the church and the monastery. Can you thank the driver for making it a wonderful day. I think his name was Mette - he was excellent. He made the trip even better because he was very friendly, he was so passionate about Bulgaria and he was very knowledgeable about the sites we visited. We are all very impressed with him. Please inform him of this. He is the best guide / driver. I hope to come back to Bulgaria soon, and we will do a tour with you again also, Best wishes

Our experience on this tour was wonderful! We traveled from the U.S. for my wedding in Sofia and I had planned a few tours the following days so that my husband’s family, who were visiting Bulgaria for the first time, could get immersed in the beautiful culture, tradition, and history of Bulgaria. I am so glad I booked this tour - it was exactly what I was looking for! A perfect balance of guided learning and self exploration, we were able to enjoy our time at a great pace. Our tour guide, Martin, made this experience so pleasant. He has an infectious positive attitude and plenty of dad jokes. Not only was he very knowledgeable about Plovdiv, but he also took the time to explain what we were seeing on the 2 hour drive to and from the destination. He was attentive to everyone’s questions and made sure everyone had what they needed when they got on and off the bus. Plovdiv itself is totally worth visiting. The rich culture and history of the city is unique and continues to be wonderfully preserved. If you’re on the fence on whether you should book this tour, I would highly recommend you go for it! Мерси много!
