Very shiny climbing centre, but I thought the routes didn't have any variety: no slabs, about 90% of the routes were overhangs to some degree, nothing that really requires flexibility or creativity or aretes - just simple strenght/endurance and mostly going just up. In addition the E-walls app is more of a gimmick than something that improves the climbing experience. Forces you to look at your phone all the time and search for the routes that light up like you're a lemming... The Climbar is very pleasant with a good canteen, if slightly pricey.

This is a beautiful climbing gym if you’re not actually a climber. It’s a futuristic concept that no one asked for and it was poorly implemented. It’s really hard to read the light up routes. The texture of the light up holds is not ideal and makes it harder to read the holds, which is an important part of indoor climbing. Because they don’t offer shoe rental, many of the new climbers were climbing in their street shoes, which is disgusting. The mandatory app felt archaic for something that’s supposed to be setting the standard for the future of climbing. The overall vibe was not that of a climbing gym, but of a sterile and cooperate facility. Again, if you’re a climber, this isn’t the place for you. If you just want to try climbing, go and have fun.

Good climbing walls. Unfortunately it is very very very dirty. Changing rooms are disgusting. No one is cleaning them in days. Lockers are constantly broken or keys are missing. Last 3 times I had to return to my car to leave my belongings there. The whole area is incredibly dusty. Highly recommend to think twice before going if you having breathing problems. No multi sport, nor cool fit accepted. This places is getting worse and worse.

Nice but staff was rude and did not speak English + was unwilling to help with anything. Specifically the bigger non climber looking dude. It Didn’t feel like a climbing culture gym. Was excited to see this place but a little disappointed.

Absolute mockery with the customer experience & service... 😅, went there paid for a daily pass + shoes + safety ropes whatever and I've been told i need to wait u till they have available pair of shoes😅 Waited for hour and a half and decided to leave, the woman at the reception smiled at me without even being bothered to ask me if I want my money back😂 I did not even f went inside didn't climbed And I got charged for what? Using the ac lol. Been to different clim centres around the globe but this is an absolute joke😁

One of the best indoor gyms I've been to. You have a mobile app with which you can see all routes with grades and you can illuminate only the route you want to climb on the wall. Auto belay is also one really cool feature when you do not have a climbing partner.

No rental or free communal chalk which is the standard anywhere else. They went for a digital route setting like a kilter board but most of the walls are broken and the once that work have defects. The fixed route setting is fine at best but still a flawed design. I do have to say the climbs were pretty clever in the use of the walls. That’s worth one star for sure. Climbing is about community as much as anything else, I think perhaps they should have more input from the community because the people who I was climbing with weren’t happy as well.

Top! It’s the one of my two favorite climbing centers in Sofia. The only thing that could be improved is changing up the routes more often. Can get a bit repetitive.

Really mixed feelings about the place. Goods: definitely one of the most modern climbing gyms in Europe (!), really clean, neat design, plenty of sport climbing and boulder routes, basically a showroom of a leading climbing gear producer Bads: service and especially staff attitude is not respectful and frankly offensive, prices are quite high for local standard, plenty of routes are on a rather difficult level (would say 90% is 6 and above), staff are not friendly to beginners, digital app for controlling the system is useless (if you are reading this, please add some analogue help or a button to turn on routes, it’s a nightmare to use smartphone with chalk) All in all - if you are an experienced climber it’s a great place, if you are a beginner better skip.

I'm totally disappointed from the administration. I'm trying to book a training session for my kid since August and I went to the reception personally but they didn't even told me when it is going to be possible. They just said it will be somewhere around the beginning of September. I called them and I got the same response and request call them back again after the 15th. I'm trying to reach the reception for 3 days now all day long and again no one is answering the phone in the morning, noon or even late afternoon... I hope someone will take care of this irresponsibility !!!

I remember loving this place before at its previous location so I wanted to show it to my Scottish boyfriend. Both of us are keen climbers so this gym was a must for our trip. While the facility was great, the service provided by reception staff was pretty shocking and very off-putting especially since it's the first impression for any visitor. Also, it's very difficult to discover the grading of routes without clear markings or any instructions from reception.

(Bouldering review) Mixed bag, really. Lighting system a bit cumbersome to use, QR codes on wall don’t work, had to get control page IP from a fellow climber, confusing orientation of wall map once you access the page. Dead routes here and there, you activate a route and LEDs glow at you from the wall, where a hold used to be. Bouldering-only area is better, but no LEDs there and colors very confusing - not a big contrast between routes and you often find yourself fumbling for the right color holds while halfway up the wall. On the positive side, good variety of routes (if a bit on the advanced side) and a good workout and training area. Overall, hoping there’s a better bouldering gym in town that I am yet to find. In the meantime, this will have to do.

Nice place! Mobile apps to control route ellumination and store you statistics. The Worst part is parking system. I can't understand why such a big company can't improve easy to use parking pass. At the moment you need stop a car, get out of the car press a button which call security tell him that you have a years card and he needs to believe you and open gate 😭👎 worst ever system

I was there during a competition so couldn't access the majority of the facility, however from what I saw and the price point, it was pretty good! Went with 3 friends and we spent a good 2.5 hours inside. Gear can be rented for an additional fee

Great climbing gym in Sofia! The staffs are very friendly. I definitely go back! It’s a huge climbing gym and I could check their grading system by an app. However the app didn’t often work properly so it was hard for me to find the levels. If they give us manual grading system, it would be much more convenient. Over all, I had a great experience there!

Walltopia in Sofia has a huge variety of climbing routes and is probably the best climbing gym in Bulgaria. There are a lot of routes that you can start from your phone which was new to me and pretty cool but a downside of this is that anyone can start and stop them even if they aren’t even there which isn’t very smart. But aside from that it’s very nice and the atmosphere is also very comforting.

I was expecting a better experience. Most of the lights are not working. Staff is helpful but the crowd is overwhelming sometimes. The degrees can be clear when the lamps are not working

Only have been here for bouldering. The hall is fancy and clean but I missed the relaxed character. It feels like a gym. And I don’t like the route system. For the most routes you need you phone to check the grades. The other ones are confusing because of the lack of different colours. The french fries and cake is good! 😀 And the staff is nice!

Great gym! New and clean, lots of space for rope climbing and bouldering. Good gym for warming up and exercising. They also have fancy things like route setting with your phone, and auto belay. Would love to go back!!

Despite her advanced skill level, my niece was not allowed in because she was 3 months too young. The kids zone was also closed without notice on the website. Unfriendly staff and not very welcoming. Looks nice from the outside though...

Lots of routes up to 20 m high, autobelay options, easy routes for beginners and also interesting hard ones for specialists, app and diode lighting to mark your route, bouldering space.

That was the first time, travelling with my bike, that in a climbing place they don't let me to put the bike inside in a safe place. And it was the climbing place with more space I have evee been. From the first moment, the girl that was working at reception, it was obvious she was not gonna help me, she didn't answer at my hello, just looking annoyed, and talked to me in an unrespectful way. I felt like I was a problem for her, asking for prices and the possibility to park the bike somewhere safe. Well, definetly, small climbing places are better, people who work there have so much more empathy and good humor! :)

Difficult to find routes as they are not physically labeled. To find a route you have to be stuck on your phone to go online and toggle the LED lights of the route and only then try and discover the your route's color within the building. You do this by going to an ambiguous IP address on the local Wifi network, which of course you cannot find any of without assistance from the only front desk personnel which are expectedly busy with walk-ins and are naturally not versed in IT. The entire phone-control makes the experience quite antisocial. The routes themselves are extremely beginner unfriendly only starting from 5a which is 3 levels higher in difficulty from other gyms I've seen. The route nodes don't vary in shape too much, are unkept, entirely covered by old chalk, and different route nodes are so close to each other it's difficult to not bump into them during a climb. My experience is related to the bouldering part, not the assisted rock climbing part. The registration process is extremely tedious and intrusive requiring a form registration input with tons of personal data requiring even an email for the simplest 1-time only training even. The entire check-in takes at least 5 minutes and there is usually queues of people. This makes it very inconvenient place to bring a friend or a coworker for a social workout. The costs we paid for single training are matching costs I've paid in Netherlands, but the multi-month subscription prices are outrageously high being several times what I've seen in much much better gyms. I'm personally left with the opinion that this is an uncared for gym with no passion for the sport/hobby by the business owners and is treated as a cash grab. I will not be doing bouldering here again.

Very shiny, but that's about it. Disclaimer: I was only bouldering. Route setting is not nice at all, the problems are only powerful, reachy, and bad holds. No "fun" bouldering. The light system had no benefits over normal color holds. You are just constantly struggling to find the right feet, or new boulder problems in general. Typically I look at the wall and pick a nice looking one in my difficulty range, but this is not possible here.

A very nice place to spend the weekend or afternoon during the week. Very versatile route's as they are being changed frequently. The autobailey's are new, for beginners they are really useful, easy to use and friendly. Recommend giving a try to the climbing.

The newly build boulderwall and training room with Kilter and Moonboard in the back of the gym is way better then the main part of the gym. Bit expensive for Sofia, but always very clean and friendly staff. Good coffee in the cafeteria.

Great modern climbing gym with some really nice route setting and great use of an app system. I had a great session, but I found it really difficult finding easy starter problems for my friend who had never done it before.

Great place, one of the most unusual and remarkable places in Sofia. The building design is a real challenge to most of the boring modern buildings in Sofia!))

I went there for bouldering, Loved the professional service and the place, Also tried the integrated App which worked perfectly and helped experience the place, good for beginners and for pros 💪🏼🧗

Good boulders, very friendly staff. They have a nice 40 degree kilter board and full set moonboard aswell which is really nice if you enjoy more static climbs - since the climbs in the hall are mostly dynamic / comp style.

The gym is pretty cool. The staff (Iliam at the entrance and Konstantin the trainer) are super nice and helpful. I very much enjoyed my time spent there, would recommend 10/10

  • 5/5 Mihaela N. 1 year ago on Google
I don't particularly love the way entry to the gym is organized (someone has to basically let you in and out instead of just giving you a card key or something). That being said the gym is super nice, clean, well ventilated and air conditioned. The routes are changed regularly and are extremely well arranged. The new kids climbing academy they are planning for, looks like a fantastic idea with some of Bulgaria's best athletes in the sport, planing on instructing kids there.

Went around 11 on a Thursday morning. Ilian on reception was super helpful and welcoming. Huge place and good vibe. Loads of bouldering routes and walls to try, albeit not many at what we’ve experienced in London as v0 to v2 difficulty. Still, we plan to come again and would recommend.
