The cottage we had had no parking on top of a very steep hill!.We had to park at the bottom and carry our luggage with no porters to assist. The cottage feels like it needs a good lick of paint.All decor seems very dated.Kitchen was very cramped and the TV was of such poor quality we rather watched something on our laptops. The manager responded quickly to replacing the one cup bodum( 2 room cottage!) and broken light and inoperable TV. The location was however nice and we enjoyed pleasant views of the valley.

I booked 3 days at De Molen. a self catering unit at R750 odd per day. The bed is super comfortable with good bathroom, small plug in oven which does the job and beautiful surroundings. However I had problems given load shedding, unable to charge my phone and given the cold winter temperatures, relied on an aircon which had no remote control. I asked for a remote to be placed in my room on day 2 which occurred however upon arrival, nothing worked. Day 3: My last night in these beautiful surrounds, I met a Tourism student from Holland called Mirella - she was amazing. This lady came to fix the TV when load shedding denied me access and on day 3 worked tirelessly to ensure the aircon eventually worked. I found the overall service impersonal, however, thankfully I met Mirella who went out of her way to accommodate my needs. We tried to fire up the internal wood burner, yet, given the minimal availability of firelighters and wet wood, this was not achievable. Not acceptable for an establishment of this report! Commendation to Mirella for her jovial and friendly support, you will be an asset to any tourism organisation. Well done and I look forward to recommending you to Singita in the near future.

Absolutely lovely guesthouse! Would Definitely rate a 5 star experience! Staff were extremely accommodating and rooms were beautiful! Rooms have underfloor heating! Absolute LUXURY!

The views and serenity at De Molen Guesthouse was really amazing. However the overall experience wasn't so great. There were days when the rooms were not even cleaned, doors were left opened, no towels in the rooms and some days were it was cleaned but not properly. The shower door in Room 6 was absolutely terrible, I had to bang it every time when having a shower as it wouldn't close normally otherwise, the water pressure was also quite bad, from being hot it will quickly turn to cold all of a sudden. When you come back to your hotel after a long day, you just want to relax and unwind, not come back to an untidy and uncleaned room. The place is beautiful with amazing views, but there could be some upgrades that could be done to the place itself.

Where to begin. . .this was without a doubt the worst hospitality experience I've ever had. To say it was shocking is an understatement. In a nutshell - we booked a self-catering stay for 2 for my birthday weekend, using a Wikideals voucher that was gifted to us. When we arrived, we were given a room with no self-catering facilities. I had prepared for self-catering and packed meat and perishables. Realising we were given the wrong room, I called the housekeeper and notified her of the issue. She said I would have to speak to reservations the next day. I said no problem, but can I please store my food in a fridge so that it doesn't go bad - she assisted us with this. The next day, a note with a reservations number was slid under my desk. I called the number and explained the problem. Later, the person on the phone came to speak to me and insisted that they had notified me via email that they only had a room available. I showed her all emails exchanged and there was NO mention of only a room being available. She said she will send me a WhatsApp message showing me this alleged email - it is 2 days later and I am still waiting. I am always for compromise and then asked if I can use the public braai facilities mentioned in their guestbook - she said no and did not give a reason, even after I told her that the guestbook says that this facility is available - it was just a "No". I asked if I could use the kitchen, she said no, it would be weird and other guests may want to do the same - basically an "I don't want to help you and I don't care about your problems" attitude. My husband and I packed up and left, not bothering to stay the second night.

The guest house and location are some of the best when it comes to beauty. The views are outstanding! Some drawbacks: my wife stepped into a piece of glass next to the pool and the aircon was not working. Luckily the staff sorted everything out. We would stay at De Molen Guesthouse again.

Really bad service received from both husband and wife owners. They will not refund if you accidently double booked. They promised us a voucher but now we are blocked on WhatsApp. Beware

Absolutely amazing! Rooms were beautifully decorated and clean, beds extremely comfortable and the breakfast delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful, even with the tiniest thing right down to the flower and Happy Birthday message placed in my room. Watching the sunrise over the mountains from the balcony and taking in the wonderful view of the Helderberg was magical. Highly Recommend.

I cannot recommend this property. The dogs are vicious and aggressive and kept behind a low fence which could easily access the areas where the guests stay. I had to carry my child on my shoulders every time I had to access the room as they were barking and snarling. There is no security. The appliances were broken, the cupboards hanging off their hinges and the shower had black mould. The swimming pool was dirty and the grass had numerous thorns. I would avoid staying here at all costs!!!!

Enjoyed a weekend stay. Only one mishap, one evening there was no more hot water to shower. Probably due to shared geyser with the neighboring rooms.

I have not stayed here. I have however contacted the owner regarding accommodation. I 1st said that I will be getting married and I would like to book a larger room for myself the night before the wedding and the day of my wedding. Obviously if I'm staying there I will be getting ready for my big day on the day of my wedding. The owner continues to tell me he can't guarantee that my makeup artist will be allowed in or the photographer while I'm getting ready. Obviously I'm going to need my makeup artist to get ready and the photographer to spend a hour taking photos of me getting ready. That's generally how weddings work or what brides want for their big day. So I am not to sure how the owner won't allow for these 2 people to join me in my room for a few hours while getting ready. I mean they are not staying there. So I am just very very disappointed with the lack of customer service provided by this establishment and the owner. The owner is very unpleasant to speak to also. I'm glad I won't be booking their establishment for a very important day in my life. Suggestion from a customer. Be nicer to potential customers. And from the reviews it seems like this is not the only complaint made.

**Tried to use the gas stove, but THE WHOLE AREA STARTED SMELLING OF GAS! **Mattress was worn out - spring mattress that made noise. **OVERPRICED breakfast. No love in their food. I was forced to drink caffeine as there was no option for tea offered, only coffee. No option for hot or cold milk. No any considerations for dietary requirements! It's a R125pp and you must take what they give you. Honestly, You are better off saving your money for a quality breakfast in the area. We ended up at Avontuur (7-9 min drive) so much more quality and value for money! Our breakfast was R120 at Avontuur, warm, made to order with free coffee & tea selection. Again *Value for your money* **You are better off buying your own wood as the basket of wood supplied is not value for money. **Limited storage. Drawer was useless as the draws hardly pulled out. **No sanitization on breakfast tables nor in the room. **Excellent sized bathroom **The best shower pressure **Quality bed linen **Air conditioning **Outdoor braai area was OK **Wonderful views **Got permission to pick some lemons **Quaint cottage and very neat. **Lovely grass area to explore **Has a small play park for kids & pool **Lovely birds in the morning **Booking was easy via Booking.com **They have a Kwik Spar close by for essential goods, The Eatery lovely restaurant for a chilled vibe lunch/supper. I see this place with so much potential. We stayed in the self-catering cottage which was aesthetically appealing but what matters most is not just the way the place looks, it's a good quality sleep And, am I getting value for my hard earned money.

Our stay was fair but disappointing. There were no pool towels, bathrobes, hairdryer or adapters as advertised; there were some bed bugs and terrible pillows; no soap in the toilet; no window or ventilator in the toilet (?!); noisy apartment due to thin floor boards and other guests on the floor above traipsing around; breakfast not included as advertised. We had friends staying in another “luxury room”, which seemed more in alignment with how “luxury rooms” were advertised and yet our we room was more expensive.

No service at all, they have dish washing machine but they don't provide any dish washer, they have double bed with single duvet and we were couples there when we ask for double duvet they told us we can't, the boss is pologetic at all she is very roud,

The service was excellent. All queries were answered quickly and easily. They answer the phone for all questions and anything needed. The location is perfect, serene and breathtaking. The perfect spot to getaway and relax. I had the best time on my trip. And hopefully you will too.

Somerset West has the best views and scenery which can be viewed at De Molen. However our stay was rather an unpleasant one. The family loft which was allocated to my family is very unsafe for a 7 year old. the gate to top was broken. there is a plank that one could hit their head when coming down. when i complained and wanted a full refund, Maaike and her team were kind enough to sort out another unit for us. We had 10 guests staying at De Molen and each one had a bad experience. If it was not dirty cups left in the room then it was a room next to the laundry room which the noise level was unacceptable. Unit 15 the shower was the most terrible shower i have ever seen. it flooded the bathroom everyday.
