South Bends' best park beside the new Howard Park, which ranks no.2 due to its eradication of all the trees. Potawatomi, named after the Native American people that once lived there, is full of tall old-growth trees, so shade is easy to find, even for parking spots. Four main features make this park unique over all others when combined. There is a fairly large zoo, the biggest outside of Chicago. It is well-kept and continuously modernized. An excellent zoo for the region. There is a playground area with excellent structures and equipment located inside a shady crop of old-growth elm, oak and maple trees. There is a wonderful conservatory that has been in operation since the 1930's (I believe, but I could be wrong). And there is a large picnick area with plenty of shelters, tables, and grills for use in a shady Grove of trees next to an open air amphitheater. And I should also mention a fifth feature, the public vegetable garden behind the conservatory. It is large and well kept. I posted a few pictures of it here as well.

Listening to the AMAZING South Bend Symphony Orchestra while enjoying a picnic with my wife in Potawatomi Park. You literally couldn't ask for a better night.

Pretty cool visit. Drinks and food a bit expensive, but hoping it goes into the care for the animals.

Great place to enjoy a festival, host an outdoor picnic event, play on the playground, or cool off at the splash pad. There's also a stage for live music. Very clean restrooms, but the water pressure needs some help.

Potawatomi Park has everything. Great covered picnic tables, excellent playground, fun splash pad, restroom facilities and lots of shady trees! The whole park is very accessible and great for all ages. We keep returning here because it's perfectly situated next to the zoo and the public pool. Grab your cooler and eat outside!

Had my visit at the kids kingdom park across from the Potawatomi park it was a great time .all though I didn't feel comfortable with the homeless lady that kept walking back an forth and looking back at the park and asking people for water an whatnot . I then made it very clear to other adults that she did not have a child at this park ans she was making me feel uncomfortable alot of adults then watched there children better ans noticed the lady as she changed her shirt 3 times not sure why but other then that it was a great park

The park is always great and we've been to multiple birthdays in the picnic areas. Always fun for kids. Splash pad is fantasric in the summer and the restrooms are always rather clean. I see dogs walking from times to time so it seems rather pet friendly as well.

Definitely one of my favorite parks!! In a good area, not had issues with it being dirty. Being going since I was a kid. Zoo is super close and so is a lot of local business. Worth checking out river park
