Lovely spot to have a traditional afternoon or cream tea in the Orchard. Free parking and bike parking is great with indoor and outdoor seating. The queue is always huge so expect to wait, but it is totally worth it. I do think they need a few more chairs and tables to keep up with custom especially at weekends. The scones are absolutely gorgeous and a great size for the money with the jam and cream.

My third visit here in 20 years. Very nostalgic place. The cakes and scones taste better every time. The seating is not only deck chairs now. There is water freely available. The cakes look amazing on display. The queue to purchase your food is always long. Trays are provided. The scones are ginormous… so many different types of Jams! Strawberry jam is my go to, but I also tried the apricot jam which exceeded my expectations entirely. The atmosphere is relaxed and calm. It is a very family friendly place- with lots of retirees enjoying the good weather and excellent quinine. Lunch foods a no longer served after 3pm. You normally pay for parking but as the ticket machine was broken- no one had to pay this time! It would not be a visit to Cambridge without a visit to the orchard in Grantchester

Iconic garden and tea room not far from the river Cam. The perfect stop for anyone taking the walk from Cambridge to Grantchester. It can be very busy on Sundays during the Summer, so try to get there early.

Scones are impeccable, to the extent that thinking about coming here for the scone can save me from cravings for scones at many other places (such as coffee chains). Ham and Cheddar Panini Melt was surprisingly tasty. The bread was crisp and thin (less carbs for me) and the cheese melts perfectly on the ham. The crisps were really crunchy. Coffee from automated machine. Nothing really to comment on without the injection of some human spirit. Not bad. Tea from Twining tea bags, which is a little sad for a tea garden, isn’t it? Food and drink is quite overpriced here, but it’s worth paying for the environment at the lovely and relaxing garden.

I've never been anywhere like this before. Free parking, find one of the outdoor tables, nestled between the trees and perch comfortably on one of the deck chairs with a beer or cup of tea and snacks from the tea room. Great after a walk along the river.

Lovely environment and fabulous large, warm plain or fruit scones. Free parking. Dog friendly in garden with access to a river walk or big field nearby. Only dropped a star as service a bit slow and inattentive when we went (early Summer 2021) See menu pic for prices, etc. Sorry, 1st menu pic didn't post well and can't delete!

This is a little gem located in grantchester. Take a lovely walk to the tea garden from Cambridge and enjoy a light lunch or cream tea before strolling back. There's a very good selection of delights on offer. They offer a range of teas and milks, there's usually over half a dozen different cakes to choose from and they they provide gluten free! Now getting on to the coffee, so listen up coffee lovers. They once sold something that was meant to resemble "coffee" I use this term loosely, however now (June 2023) they've upped their game in serious style. Their coffee is simply some of the best in Cambridge! No this is not a joke. The grantchester tea gardens have great coffee! I would say it rivals hot numbers and bould brothers easily, but with much better surroundings. The only other place that is on par with the coffee at the grantchester tea garden, is in the flock cafe at Burwash manor in Barton. The food on offer is very nice and I don't know if it tastes better surrounded by lovely greenery but it's certainly good. The whole setting is lovely for meeting friends, enjoying it with family or just sitting with a book and enjoying the song of the birds. Well worth a trip. They're dog friendly and I recently had a cute pair of ducks come and sit by me. Definitely a little gem of a place. Bonus: the car park is currently free to patrons!

One of the best cream teas i’ve had. We hired a punt from Cambridge, took it up the river and left it moored while we had cream tea here. Would definitely recommend this.

By far the best scones I’ve had in years. So light and mine was warm just been made. The seating area was very nice and relaxing. We had a lovely time.

Little coffee shop and cafe by the river in Grantchester. Prices are what you expect then a bit more, but the latte was really good. 2 hours parking on site, after 2 hours the charges are, ahem, rather steep! That's as kind as I can be. We only had drinks so can't comment on the food. You can do a walk along the river and back for coffee easily within the 2 hours so it's not all gloom.

Very traditional English tea room with beautiful outside seating under the fruit trees. Chill out in a deckchair and enjoy a book. Walk along the river through paradise gardens and into Cambridge.

Spacious and beautiful tea garden. We spent a couple of hours enjoying our cream tea and the outdoor garden. The food was good, the garden was lovely. To those who would like to visit—be prepared to spend substantial amount of time queuing and then looking for a place to sit since even in February it was challenging to find an unoccupied table. Pros *Freshly baked scones with clotted cream and variety of jams *Big and beautiful garden *Picturesque pathways and surrounding areas, we walked to Cambridge after having a cream tea and enjoyed our little walk immensely Cons *Queues 😑 *Staff are here to mind the cash counter, you would beed to find a table and bring your trays there by yourself. Tbh, it’s not really a con, just a mild inconvenience but I almost dropped my tray since it was heavy and that’s an unpleasant memory. *As tables and chairs are often located under the trees, don’t be surprised to see bird poo covering them. 😊

Very nice place for brunch or lunch. Scones were particularly delicious, freshly baked and nice. Relaxing atmosphere and children friendly space. Totally recommend.

Lovely garden and great vibe to enjoy the last big of summer, except for some queuing in a good weather, but understandable. Plus, perfect view and distance to hike back to the city. Highly recommend!

You can't beat the outdoor sitting area and the meadows for walking (5 stars just for that reasoning alone). Flat white was good and cakes etc are fairly standard. They stop serving food at 3pm, so we missed it this time. Also, the tables outside need to be cleaned more often.

Very good scones! About £3.60 each without cream and jam. They have cakes, coffee, wine, and of course tea. The garden is lovely and spacious - you can set up your own chairs and plot yourself under the sun for some warmth.

We dropped in for brunch and had the delicious avocados and mushrooms on sourdough. Very tasty and well presented. It was quite hard to work out what was vegan from the menu, but the staff were great at helping us. Despite it being quite busy, the staff were doing a great job with orders and we didn't have to wait long for our food. We also loved walking around the orchard and along the river. It's an absolutely beautiful spot. Highly recommended.

I have visited here many times over the last twenty years but hadn't been for a couple of years. Sadly the place looks very run down, although there are signs that things might be looking up as l heard that it is under new ownership. I hope the refurbishment that is planned in the Autumn will happen. It's an iconic place, always popular with tourists but l think that currently it doesn't do anything to show itself in a good light. The food is expensive so I just had a cream tea. I was disappointed with the scone which was overcooked and could have been so much better. However the staff were helpful, parking is easy now there is a charge after two hours and they make a decent cup of tea. It could have been so much better but I am fond of the place and will be returning in the hope that the new ownership can really make it somewhere worth visiting and recommending to others.

Lovely setting for a scrumptious cream tea, sitting amongst the trees listening to the birds and the leaves swaying in the breeze!! Great selection of scones, jams and exotic teas! Also have a varied savoury menu which looked fabulously tasty as well!! Lovely place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life!! Very friendly, polite staff make it a wow place to spend a warm summers afternoon!!

I have been coming to the Orchard since the 1980s and it hasn’t changed very much, which is wonderful. It’s a very special place. I love coming here no matter how cold it is outside. Often I arrive with my Mother on Boxing Day, and there are people bundled up, sitting outside with their tea and scones! The tea, coffee, scones, and sundries are always good. I’ve had egg dishes as well which were yummy – in the dining area. I would highly recommend this experience – especially once the tourists are gone!

We really enjoyed sitting out in the garden and having our scones. I also got a salad which was ok but the scones were a lot more exciting. I love the vibe here it’s worth coming and hanging out on a nice day!

Great place for afternoon tea. We went canoeing down the river and finished it off with a cream tea and a drink. Really relaxing place with cool deckchairs and tables outside in the garden. Very busy as it was a hot day so was a challenge to find a free one but definitely worth it.

I loved this place BUT it has changed - I have been a customer for over 15 years and visited for lunch recently. After ordering two jacket potatoes which as advertised is served with a side salad and coleslaw. When they arrived, the server told us they had run out of all salad and coleslaw and walked away. With a premium price tag of £11 each I expect to receive what is advertised and more than just a potato and two small tomatoes. Overall - the location is lovely, the staff could be more proactive with dealing with problems, or let you know that half the ingredients aren't there before you order. For the very premium prices they charge, it seems they are riding on their reputation and quality has diminished and I did feel ripped off on my last visit, which has really put me off visiting or recommending to others - Visit for a cup of tea, but avoid the food.

Possibly the best tea rooms we've ever been to, There was a long queue to get served but it was bright sunlight and warm, there was an abundance of conversation in the line to eavesdrop on, the menues are posted outside so you can choose before getting to the servery saving alot of time. As well as eating outside on some amazing deckchairs you could also eat indoors but we chose to eat in the garden. We purchased a large pot of tea, some sandwiches and some cake, the sandwiches came with salad and chrisps and everything was excellent, the gardens are immense with tables and deck chairs dotted everywhere, although it was crowded we had no problem finding a table and chairs some people threw a blanket on the floor and picnicked. Toilets were very clean as was the entire site. There are wild birds and ducks who would love to share, they are no problem. There are signs up informing everyone that they are in a wild space and bees and wasps may be around, i saw none. Had a walk across the meadows to the river, We could have time traveled back to the 1930s the whole experience was so peaceful i will come back

Afternoon tea in the cafe. Lovely scones, cakes and sausage rolls. Can get very busy at weekends especially in the summer - we had the restaurant to ourselves on a quiet weekday afternoon in May. Great for entertaining friends and family and away from the city crowds.
