Loved our stay at Black Bear! Such a beautiful property, and the rooms were really nice! The location is awesome, close to all the action. Friendly staff too!

What a wonderful and quaint place to stay in Lake Tahoe. I absolutely loved our stay in Black Bear Lodge. The staff was friendly and attentive. There are so many little things about this place that really make it shine. Small touches like fresh flowers from their garden in little jars to decorate the main lodge, to the chocolate on your pillow at check in, and complimentary glass of champagne. Our room was comfortable, spacious, and clean. It is convenient to attractions but far enough away that it is peaceful and quiet. We took scooters back from town and it was a five minute ride. I would highly recommend Black Bear Lodge for couples looking for a romantic getaway or for vacationing families. (they had several cabins outside the main lodge that were ideal for families)

The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful. The wine is delightful and the lodge is close to everything. The price was fair although i wish there was breakfast included. It's small but it's quaint, clean and welcoming. Great for a weekend away!

From check-in (easy and fast) to our stay to our checkout, Katy and Bri were wonderful hosts. We even saw a bear. We wondered if that was a planned event for the guests! Thanks again!

Lovely location but required to fully pay at time of registration. No air conditioning (with hot weather), no cleaning service and unfortunately uncomfortable beds. Cheerful staff and safe quiet setting.

We had a lovely stay here for our anniversary! The lodge is so cozy and adorable. We were so impressed by the attention to detail. Wonderful little lodge in a great location that still feels off the beaten path. Every staff member we encountered was kind and helpful. Cannot recommend this place enough!

We stayed in the Rubicon Room and it was lovely. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the room was wonderful and we absolutely loved the lodge, the roaring fireplace, the big beams, and the gorgeous courtyard. Well worth it!

Former Tahoe local. This is my current favorite hotel in town. The cabins are awesome. The manager Bree is on top of everything. It’s solid.

I would not be returning and would not recommend Black Bear Lodge due to their uncleaniness and poor hospitality/service. Unfortunately this happened during our Christmas vacation. 1) Bed was dirty- had hair, food, and black mold-like stains on the sheets and mattress. We specified at the time of booking that there will be two children sleeping in the sofa bed and confirmed this in the email and also over the phone. We arrived on Christmas Eve to spend the holiday at Tahoe and this was discovered during Christmas Eve night when we were making the bed for our kids (photos of the dirty mattress attached). 2) Since they don't have onsite concierge after 8pm, I had to call the after-hours line at 10:30pm and waited for someone to get back to me. Spoke with Katie, the lodge manager, and the phone conversation went very unpleasant. I informed her of the hair, food, and mold-like stain on the sheets/mattress and said I was disappointed to experience this. Katie initially offered a discount and I inquired other options - for a mattress replacement or an option to move to another room if possible. She rudely said "we don't have another mattress and there is no other room, so what do you want me to do? Oh my god!" It was unbelievable how abrasive and unprofessional a person in the hospitality service could be. It felt awful to be spoken so rudely. At the end, she told us that she'll comp the room one night but we can leave and go somewhere else the next day. Next day is Christmas and it was pricey and difficult to find another place last minute but we got ourselves out of here. (Another staff member came to change the dirty sheets. The person apologized that the sheets/mattress were in unsanitary condition. She was more emphatic toward the whole situation.)

Absolutely top notch lodge! 10/10 would stay again. Staying in one of the cabin’s on the property made the experience even better. Also, Brie took care of everything we needed and made us feel like we were home. She was wonderful!

Was a great location in a quiet neighborhood. Six blocks to Lake. Many restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery stores are nearby. Nice lush court yard with entertaining squirrels. Very nice staff.

I enjoyed that it was a nice room, however they do not have staff over night to address anything regarding other guests with noise complaints even with “emergency” number. Wouldn’t suggest staying here again.

We had a great stay. It is a quiet place. One thing that I have never seen in a motel was the Instant Coffee???... The rest was great.

Such a cute, kind, adorable place! Very accommodating and homie. Honestly wouldn’t mind getting snowed in here. Definitely coming back and 1000% recommend it! Customer service is amazing, the main area is amazing full of games, wine, snacks, and movies to borrow. 100 out of 10!

We had amazing stay at the Black Bear Lodge. During the first night, we stayed at the cabin where the space was separated by the wall. Unfortunately, the wall was too thin and we could hear everything our neighbors were doing. We spoke to hotel staff and they moved us to a different cabin that had privacy. All workers at the hotel have been extremely nice and friendly. I really appreciate the interior design and how much thought was put into every little detail.

We had a wonderful stay at Black Bear Lodge for two nights as our base for exploring Lake Tahoe. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and our room was lovely and cosy with the wooden beams and a fire if we needed it and tea and coffee making facilities. It was perfectly located for exploring the lake and was close to lots of shops, restaurants and other amenities.

Terrible. My family booked and paid for a room ahead of time, showed up and they said they over booked and didn't have a room for them. Since South Lake Tahoe is my home town this was especially lame.

Absolutely loved our stay. We stayed in one of the smaller duplex style cabins behind the lodge and it was wonderful. Good bed, large shower, kitchenette, gas fire place, and many other great amenities. The only downside is the wall between the rooms may be a little thin as we could hear our neighbors the first night, but it's not too bad. It was vacant the rest of our trip so it worked out just fine. There is free parking and a hot tub on the premises. I highly recommend this place for couples and small families. Would definitely stay here again.

This Lodge had everything we were looking for in a quick weekend getaway. We're locals in Reno, and wanted a quick get away for my wife's birthday. The staff at Black Bear was amazing. Kind and helpful on the phone, and very accommodating when we checked in and left. The lodge has a very rustic "log cabin" feel which is what we wanted in February. The room was clean, comfortable, and had nice touches. We wore the included insulated robes to the jacuzzi, which was nice since it was quite cold out. As everything was covered in Feet of snow, hard to say what the exterior was like, but a very pleasant experience. Will be returning for sure!
