My little one went to camp here once. The grounds are beautifully kept and the staff seemed friendly. There was an open exhibit that showed the cooking quarters, a depiction of a slave, and a replica of utensils and types of food they would cook for the big house. But, it is a former plantation and not just a house or mansion.

We really enjoyed touring the estate as we love history. It is a self guided tour & each room had a sign giving all the information you needed. The lady in the small gift shop was very knowledgeable & was able to answer our questions.

Beautiful mansion and grounds nestled in PG County, Maryland. There’s also an arts center on the grounds that hosts pottery classes, which is awesome. Would definitely recommend this as a neat to stop by in the area (it’s also free!)!

The Montpelier Mansion is a Georgian style mansion in Laurel, Maryland built in the 1780s. It was the home of Thomas and Anne Snowden. Today, it's a house museum and event space. It's also a good spot to go for a walk. The property is spacious with gardens, walking paths, and picnic tables. There's also an arts center near the parking lot as well. One thing to note is that this house was part of a plantation that enslaved people. It's important to know the context as we visit places. May that be a reminder that the system started disadvantaging African-Americans and that we must DEMAND systemic change today.

$5 per adult, $2 per child to tour the main house where George Washington stayed. Scavenger hunt booklet was a nice touch for kids but the museum itself didn't hold my or my daughters interest. It definitely would have been nice to hear more details from a tour guide. Art for sale was also on display with an mostly out of place African and Native American theme.

Visited the Herb and Tea Festival at the mansion, an annual event. Found wonderful new vendors and was able to visit some returning vendors. Very family friendly event with a lot of hands-on activities for children and adults. A nice outing.

Pretty cool place. I definitely need to check out the annex the staff there seemed starved for for human interaction. Wasn't super big but pretty cool.

Hidden gem. Quiet place to walk the grounds, enjoy the architecture, sit on a bench and chat or reflect. And all that is outside! One day we will move to an inside tour, but for now it's a go-to date spot. The grounds are well kept. The picket fences garden is understated and that's it's charm. Many vistas to sit, reflect, and soak in the quiet.

I love this place. The grounds transform you to a place of tranquilty that you would expect to find in this area. There are majestic trees which provide shade in the summer. The herb garden is small but tranquil. You will enjoy sitting amounts the smells. At any day they have photoshoots on the grounds for weddings, Quinceneras (?) Or family photos. They have a summer playground for kids, home school events and a fabulous festival. I didnt even talk about the teas or house yet but its a must see in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Maryland.

My visit with my family was very nice. The grounds were clean and beautiful. Everything was closed but the trails were open to walk around. We just enjoyed the walk and photos we took.

We got to wander around and tour by ourselves which is really all I want when exploring a house. The front desk people were super helpful and kind and my toddler had a great time sitting in all the chairs.

Loved this Museum! The booklet and scavenger hunt kept both my teens busy and the garden was so lovely.

Had a great time with the family visiting. For a small fee you can tour the house self guided. The real plus was a scavenger hunt for the kids, something all of these types of places would benefit from. Not a long stay but an hour well spent. Note: The art center just downhill does have a few exhibits if you ask the front desk inside, buying another 20 minutes.

Definitely a must see for Laurel locals and anyone interested in history at all! They staff know so much about this little piece of land and it's so interesting to see what all has been uncovered. We also did the "hidden spaces" tour and it was incredible! Mr. Graham did an excellent job of telling stories and revealing the houses' history. We are interested in ghost tours, if they are ever offered again!

The scavenger hunt was a hit with my daughter. The self-guided tour was very informative and the handout showed what order to view the mansion in. The hands on room is temporarily closed because of COVID. Beautiful garden outside!

It's so pretty they really did a good job keeping up with it, if you want to see a piece of history it's a nice place to go. It's free to walk around on your own but I'm not sure if tours cost money or not

It's a nice venue. The facilities themselves aren't particularly fancy, but the mansion has a historical background. The grounds around the mansion are fairly well kept, although the garden needed weeding and trimming, and the benches had moss (making sitting down on them in dress clothing an unpleasant thought). I was only a guest for a small graduation party, but I expect it's a good deal and decent venue for the price.

Self guided tour so visitors get out of it what you put into it. Take time to really look, wander, and read the booklet. Very educational and interesting. Well kept. Excellent view into our history.

A beautiful historic home. They hold afternoon tea events a few times a year, and those are wonderful. Helpful staff.
