Lack of staff! Dirty cutlery and bent fork pizza was decent. meat was cooked well. However veg was stale and tasteless clearly been sitting about for hours. If I chucked a potato or Yorkshire pudding at someone I'm sure they would have been knocked out 🤣 I beleive the bar lady's name was Maddie if she wasn't there the place would fall apart she was running around finding staff as we were left standing at the carvery station most definitely deserves a pay rise !!!! The chef was polite also. All in all a very disappointing experience!!!!

Place was pretty empty but food still took around 30 mins to come out. Asked for sauces and they took a while to come as they weren’t already on tables. Hearing staff shout ‘service please’ every time food was ready to go out was disturbing to the atmosphere. The guy serving us lee was very uneasy and stressing even though there was barely anyone in the pub. I ordered a chicken burger and it was rubbery and grey. Not the best experience and won’t be back.

First visit to try the carvery. Staff were excellent, very welcoming and attentive. Food was fantastic, not too busy when we visited, Friday evening. Details of allergies were requested during our order, I'm gluten free, I was surprised to be asked, most places ignore Allergies unless the customer mentions any. Gluten free gravy was provided immediately, I was offered the breakdown of foods so I could see what to avoid. I'd highly recommend eating here if you have food Allergies, they were so accepting and helpful.

I have been here a few times over the past 6 years with my Uncle and friends. We have always taken advantage of the most welcoming Carvery that you will even see 😋. Beautifully cooked and carved meat selection with a huge vegetable variety. Prices are very impressive starting at £7.90 for the small Carvery to the Extra large at £12.00 approx.

Had a Christmas family meal here, large family of 15. Only 1 member of family didn't enjoy your burgers. Apart from that, roast was brilliant, drinks are a fair price, plenty of space and clean. Chef was a lovely bloke too

Had a lovely carvery here; vegetables were fresh with a variety of choices, got given plenty of meat. Was throughly enjoyable. The service was outstanding. The three ladies that served us were incredibly polite, extremely helpful and went above and beyond to make our trip here enjoyable and also helped us save money by offering us some discount and several codes.

I have always enjoyed coming to the Village inn with family, friends and for work dues. This restaurant has lovely, friendly and welcoming staff, it’s very clean and tidy and most importantly the food is amazing!! Me and my partner come here most mornings for the all you can eat breakfast, you literally cannot beat the price for what you get!! I highly recommend this restaurant/ pub!!

A great place for no frills food. Friendly staff and a great carvery. Also a plus a dog friendly bar, where you can eat also. Will definitely be going back

Nice pub serving food. Good choice for carvery. Food was hot and tasty. Pub itself is a bit tired looking but staff were helpful and friendly. Well priced - 2 courses for £10.49. Chocolate brownie was amazing! Would visit again.

Picked a quiet time to visit in half term. The staff were very polite and friendly especially the chef on the carvery. Meal was tasty and reasonable price. The cheesecake was delicious, definitely recommend.

Don't bother ordering on the app, just go to the bar, we ordered on the app and was sat there ages waiting for drinks and tokens for carvery, had to ask staff in the end, we were told to go straight to the carvery with no tickets, who then didn't know what to do, they had to go get the tickets from the bar staff. Bit of a faff, staff were friendly and the roasties were the best I have had for while. Just don't expect to use the technology they heavily promote and go old school instead. Oh and asking for tips on the app before any service or food. NOPE

Great service and excellent value for money. I was able to use my Blue Light Card for discount which is very much appreciated. I have to give big thanks to the head chef who went out of his way to ensure that we had an excellent meal. I don't normally tip in restaurants but on this occasion I did as I was so happy about the service given to us by all the staff. I also speak for the rest of the party that I was with.

States on menu help your self to filter coffee for set price. But it was instant coffee. Each time I went to get something eg bread / butter and hot water it had run out. Bread was still frozen Vegetarian option was pretty basic Waited too long for veggie sausages. Noticed someone use tongs to get black pudding then put back in place then vegetarian used to pick up waffle. Green coloured tongs would help with this.. Wife loves mushroom but wasn’t prepared to pay extra for them. Thought we would try as saw advertised when we went there with friends previous week. It worked out more expensive and doesn’t suit my family. Our usual would have cost £20 with kids eat free and all hot drinks and juices included in price. Much more scarier y as well. Bacon , sausage and black pudding tasted nice. Staff are pleasant enough

Came here for a birthday and was pleasantly surprised with the selection. It's sort of in the vein of other franchise pubs like Marston's, but I actually much preferred the selection on offer for vegetarians as it was far more extensive. Food took around 30 minutes to arrive and when it did, it was all really tasty. Nothing that will blow you away, it's all oven/microwave sort of stuff but still it was tasty and I'd definitely choose to come here again. Service was very friendly as well which is always nice!

Favourite carvery in the area by far. Tried the new Reaper wings this week as well, very nice - but I could handle much hotter. The only thing I am not a fan of is the burgers. The pattys are not great, definitely need a new supplier for them.

  • 3/5 Craig I. 6 months ago on Google
For the price you pay it’s not too bad. Bit random that the mushrooms came out separately but I get that if they were left with the buffet food they would go soggy etc. just that they were so much hotter than the rest of the food once they came out. Maybe just something to consider. Staff were helpful and pretty cheerful. Only negative was the decor. Owning a painting and decorating company I couldn’t help but notice that a lot of the interior needed some TLC. Apart from that it was a case of you getting what you pay for. Fairly satisfied and no real complaints.

Excellent place to eat - greeted at the door by a very friendly member of staff who took us to our table and as we had asked for wheelchair access she kindly removed one of the chairs at the table so my mother could sit with us all. Carvery was superb with a great selection of vegetables - the chef was extremely friendly and chatty. My mother had Scampi and chips which she thoroughly enjoyed . We ordered desserts after which again were delicious

We booked a table for 6 people, on arrival we were offered another table in an empty room which was very cold. We ordered from our table, the drinks were ordered before the meal , they took a long while to arrive. Only after we asked them to check the order. The mains arrived and they were left on the severy for quiet a while . Mine was quite inedible the peas were like bullets and the chips were cold ,the scampi was like crisp balls. The only meal that was good was the fish. When staff was informed of my meal they apologised but that was it. Will not be returning. At least we had good company.

Service was bubbly. Food was good value and what we expected for a chain type pub/restaurant. There were two servers that were absolutely lovely, I can't remember the young ladies name but a special mention to Lee, he is superb. He was friendly, chatty, smiling all the time and nothing was too much trouble, these things not often seen in today's world. Only criticism would be decor especially toilets but from what I understand there is a complete refit early next year.

Food here was good, although it took a while to be brought out (it wasn't particularly busy). Really useful to have an EV charger outside which meat we could eat whilst the car charged. It was annoying that my 24yr old daughter was not able to have a drink as she was challenged and had no ID. Next time I'll leave her at the table whilst I get the drinks.

Great food, carvery extensive. Loved the camembert grill thing, yummy! The place was extremely busy but the staff were on it, pleasant and efficient. Only one complaint- the disabled toilet was out of order which was bad because I can't use ordinary facilities, so hopefully it was fixed quick

Good food and drink and definitely value for money! Polite hard working staff who will do everything they can to make your visit a good one. Would definitely recommend the burgers and have to say their mash potatoes are the best I’ve tasted ( I hear a lot of people say this) brilliant that they now do takeaway too! Definitely recommend paying them a visit.

We were really pleasantly surprised by the Carvery. The meat was great - I hate overdone beef, but this was just right - and a good range of veg, none of it dried out or overcooked. Busy, but good service. And the children's menu was excellent. Decor and surroundings nothing much to write home about, but prices good. All in all, excellent value.

Have enjoyed the carvery here many times. The staff are polite and professional. The place is a little bit dated but as to be expected for a country pub. Would be 5 stars but last few times we've been the meat at the carvery has not been great. Either over cooked or stringy.

  • 4/5 Frank W. 2 years ago on Google
Lovely place 😁. Front of house still has the "small pub" vibe. But then it opens up to quite a substantial eating area 😁. Staff were great and quite attentetive without being "in your face" (that's a good thing). Food was lovely, we had a small carvery and a Calzone. And drinks. All at an excellent price 😁. Tables were a little sticky but not enough to put us off. Would i recommend a visit... 100% yes. We are going to try the breakfast tomorrow... stay tuned 😁👍

Was very busy when I arrived at 2.15pm. Queue for carvery was long, but went quick to counter. Had choice of 4 different meats to choose from, and big variety of vegetables to choose from. Everything was piping hot. The meat was cooked to perfection and all veg was perfect too. It was my 1st visit here, but not my last. The staff were run off their feet, but all were very friendly and helpful. I can't wait to go back, I left feeling very full, and happy at the excellent food. I would recommend this carvery is well worth the visit. Well done to all the people who worked so hard today.

It's been many years since we've last been here so was quite looking forward to it. First impressions not great, ordering drinks we noticed the bar was very dirty, we stuck to it, it looked like it hadn't had a food wipe down for days. That said we all chose the carvery which was really good, so filling we couldn't squeeze in a dessert! Service was nice and friendly they just need to improve cleanliness.

We went there for a carvery this evening and I’ve never felt so welcome at a venue. The staff were amazing, really friendly and helpful. The food was really good too, very good value for money. I’d highly recommend it and will definitely be going back, might pop in for one of their yummy breakfasts soon.

Our go-to for a carvery when the family visit! Staff are so friendly and happy to help, food is amazing, and the prices are very fair! On our visit yesterday, the chef serving the meat was absolutely lovely, even saying his goal was to make everyone smile (and not just from the food!) Would definitely recommend as a family favourite.

Excellent friendly place to eat. Food is really good, although I think due to its popularity, sometimes had to wait for the carvery to top up the available foods. Great place to take children, has outside seating and play area for warmer weather. I've eaten many times here over ten years and had a positive experience 98% of the time.

Service was pretty good but the food was just such low quality. We had carvery, so maybe the other items on the menu were better. But, the meat was drying out a bit, the gravy was an awful consistency and tasted odd. The vegetables were a little lacking in flavour and looked like they had been sitting there for a while. The tables were clear but by no means completely clean, which is not nice to see. I wouldn't say it was expensive but for how much it costs, it's not somewhere I would ever go back to. The only reason this isn't a one star is due to the service.

Joe in hospitality is great, and the whole experience is really great when we go. Nicely roasted joints of meat with a good selection of veg, especially good is that most of the veggies are dairy and gluten free and they do gluten free gravy no extra cost if you need it 👍 #makethevillagegreatagain Awesome brunch too! Note I'm only intolerant of dairy and gluten and so far I've been fine there. Can't comment about full on allergies that's a whole different game... But for the price I'm always impressed!

I was in town for one night and came across this pub online. Upon my visit I was greeted by incredibly cheery staff and was seated straight away. The chef and other workers were extremely friendly and helpful. The carvery was warm and delicious!! What a wonderful experience, made up for a very stressful day. A must visit!!

We have stopped here many times when we are over the N&N side of Norwich and we have always found the staff to be very polite and courteous. It is nice to see that you can get a carvery any day of the week, not just a Sunday. We only have the traditional Carvery but it is more than enough for us.

We came as a treat for our eldest son as our youngest kids were at friends houses, he loves a Carvery and it was a very enjoyable evening. Staff were so polite and the food was amazing as always, they made time to speak and interact with my son also which makes a huge difference.

Went there today with my partner and my little lad. On approach to the front doors there was a sign saying ‘no pizzas or burger today’. After sitting down and ordering a drink, I can see exactly why! They only had two staff members in there working. When I asked the male waiter in there where my drinks were, he openly admitted that he hadn’t bothered looking at the printer, where my order from my phone went too. My food turned up approximately 30 minutes later and it looked absolutely disgusting, poorly presented and very unappetising! My partner had a Carvery and she said that it was tasteless. The only good part about this meal was the Coke which I had to drink and it came straight from the glass bottle and would have been vertically impossible for them to have screwed that up. Overall very unimpressed and will never be returning, think twice before coming here if you want a good meal! Disgusting and that’s without mentioning how run down the place is inside! Rant over!!

Had a meal on Tuesday with my asters and brother in law. Its been awhile since we visited this place, but pleased to find the food was as good as previously. We had the carvery, which came in 3 sizes, extra large large and small. Us girls had the small, which was more than enough. Brother in law had large, we all chose turkey which was delicious. The choice of veg was amazing. 3 of us had dessert and the portions were huge. The Staff were friendly and helpful. The only downside, it seems they had a leaky roof and we had to dodge a couple of buckets which were catching the water as it came through. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and it was reasonably priced. We'll worth a visit.

Travelled up from wales for Christmas visit to family who booked a table for Christmas lunch. We had a Carvery with 3 meat choices plus Loads of side dishes, very tasty and hot. Waitress and bar staff very pleasant and helpful, being Dog Friendly made the visit all the more enjoyable as we could all be together. Would definitely recommend a visit

Fabulous food. But it was extremely busy, especially as the serving staff also had to deal with a large number of takeaway orders. Took 45 minutes in various queues. Would probably not go back: dining out is more than just the food - the whole experience matters too.
