Took my daughter swimming yesterday and when we went to get her changed a woman told me that the communal changing area was no place for a man to be whilst her daughter was changing, her daughter wasn't present at the time. I asked her if it would be OK if I was female and said "of course it would!" Reported this blatant sexism to the management team who were great about it. Such a shame about this bigoted, out dated and disgusting attitude in 2023 at a community site. Ruined the experience of taking my daughter to her swimming lesson. I'll send her with her mum in future because I was so embarrassed in front of lots of other people.

I made a phone call to enquire about a Leisure Card that I recently received an emailed promotion about and within 15 minutes I was swimming 🏊‍♀️. Lisa on Reception was brilliant 👏 and following her advice from my phone call I had no problems registering. The changing rooms were clean and hygienic and the pool a pleasure to swim in with a nice temperature and water quality. I look forward to making many more visits in the future.

Went to a body combat class. It was over 10mins late starting. There was no real instruction on how best to perform the movements. The singing and odd whoop was not motivational in the least. The microphone made it difficult to hear what was being said.

Have been trying to get through on the phone on and off for a week now to book something, been on hold for 10+ minutes every time and not once has the phone been answered. There is no option to book online and the app doesn’t exist on the App Store anymore.

Whilst the facilities are fine, it is almost impossible to get in touch with them to actually book. Phone rarely gets picked up, have sat in a queue for 45+mins on multiple occasions. App rarely works. Appalling customer service.

Online booking was fairly easy, nice set up for lane swimming in the afternoon but the changing rooms were in need of a very good clean. Floors were soaking and dirty and the smell of urine in the changing rooms was so strong you could even smell it from the poolside.

I have trained at many gyms over the years, but nothing can prepare you for the circuit training classes at Leyland. They are by far the hardest you can get anywhere. A full and total body workout. The instructor, Sharon is so knowledgeable, and welcoming it's refreshing to see. Everybody in that class made me feel as though i'd been going for years. I will certainly be going back, as soon as I recover. Forget the rest, this is the best. Receptionists are a bit slow at answering the phone though.

Why is there only one aqua fit class at leyland on a Friday afternoon. Used to have two classes wed and Fri evenings.

Small, compact and busy. Friendly helpful staff. Facilities are ok, average compared to EIS. (English Institute of Sport)

A good leisure center, really nice staff! There are many interesting lessons, a gym, badminton and squash courts etc. Unfortunately, there was no place in the swimming group for my child. Also I always get confused as to which swimming sessions I need to book and which ones I don't, because it's difficult to find this info on the website or app. Also, the app does not work quite correctly, I cannot make a payment, so I have to book the next class at the reception every time.

Good selection of up to date cardio machines. It's the only gym on a South Ribble membership that stays open over the festive period, the others stay closed.

What is the point in having a phone number if nobody is going to answer the phone? Continuously getting no answer. Seems to be a reoccuring theme here on the reviews? Sort it out, it is very unprofessional!

It does what it says on the tin...it's a Leisure Centre. I use the pool twice a week. Staff are friendly and attentive. Changing rooms are clean but could do with a little tlc!

I've been swimming there my whole life, the staff are dead fun and supportive and are great, you can fun swim or do lessons! I highly recomend this, as this is my swim place and I am an excellent swimmer for my age! Warning can be a tad dirty at times, bit is still fun!♡

Reasonable size pool but can’t swim for the kids continually in the way “even in the swim lane” Also really in need of a refurb for sure very dated and the pool is not very clean

We have only used the pool here so far but there are a lot of improvement works going on so it should be a great place to go

£2.50 for an adult swim.....not bad for adults, one lane up for those who wanted to do lengths, wasn't too busy even in summer holidays, showers were hot, most of lockers and cubicles had lockable doors, 2/3 lifeguards over both pools. Been a while since last here, but will still come back again soon.

Swimming changing rooms often smell of urine and the toilets are filthy. Although my child loves the swimming lessons, I just wish the hygiene standards would improve

Take my 6yr old for swimming lessons. Simon is a brilliant teacher, but get the aircon on in hot weather it is literally unbearable and I'm speaking on behalf of a lot of customers.

Had a great game of badminton here. We had booked twice by mistake and the lady kindly explained what we had done and credited us back for next time.

Came to play badminton the other day. The court hadn't already been set out. But the game was fun. The facilities are pretty good and will definitely come back.

Great facilities just a shame there are no separate showers and changing rooms

For the short and to the point answer, it's functional. I only use it because I'm on low income. Otherwise I would choose a fancy gym like David Lloyd or Nuffield. Gym It's got good machines, but I only discovered on my last visit that there's a huge weights section in a different room by the women's changing rooms. No one ever explained that. I just thought the equipment was lacking. Children's Swimming Pool It's nice and warm. Good depth. Changing rooms in swimming pool Floors always wet, toilets always wet floors and puddles, toilet paper not refilled often. And people put toilet paper all over the floor so it gets all soggy and looks gross. Children's swimming lessons I would attend elsewhere, they don't get into the pool with stage one. Which I find mad. The teacher Molly has never assessed my child. I went to Penwortham and the man is in the pool and is assessing every child so it is updated on the system. I didn't want to bring my child back here but she has a preference for female teachers. Disappointed. But I cancelled the direct debit. I don't understand how you can teach a child from the side... Ribby Hall swimming teachers look so hands on.

Staff nice and friendly but Over crowded, children's swim classes no changing rooms available after swim so having to wait ages while children wet and cold,

Could definitely take some modernization and since the council took it back over the timetables/website are impossible but they function and are reasonably priced. My daughter has swimming classes that she enjoys and has come on really well in them. They were less than half of the price of the big named classes

Member of the leisure centre. Includes use of the pools, gym and exercise session including yoga. At four sites Penwortham, Bamber Bridge, Leyland and S.Ribble Tennis club. Great value. Highly recommend

I like this gym the staff are very kind, friendly and helpful. The building is old and needs refurbishing but don't let this put you off. Throughout covid when the gym was allowed to open the staff went above and beyond their job descriptions. The gym is spotlessly clean and well.managed.

  • 5/5 Lisa B. 2 years ago on Google
Been swimming here for years. Just signed up for the gym and after 2 classes I'm really impressed. Haven't used the gym yet but it looks great and all covid precautions are in place
