😐 Too busy. Facilities are lovely just too busy for me to the point you can’t use the equipment. The pool area used to be relaxing but there are regularly really loud classes on, it seems they’re in need of another pool. As when you’re in the sauna you can just hear class music or children lessens etc... People often mention staff, pool, good, facilities, area, room, swimming, steam, classes, sauna,

Too busy. Facilities are lovely just too busy for me to the point you can’t use the equipment. The pool area used to be relaxing but there are regularly really loud classes on, it seems they’re in need of another pool. As when you’re in the sauna you can just hear class music or children lessens etc and it isn’t really the vibe your looking for when you’re wanting to relax. Staff are lovely, I just felt the gym had gone in a different direction since I joined.

I had a bad experience when I joined on offer. Waited weeks for induction, which never happened? Asked to extend my offer a couple of weeks, this was refused. What was the point in joining with an offer when you are unable to use the facilities? Worst experience of joining a gym, customer care is not included?

Joined yesterday. Facilities seemed clean and they have a good range of workout machines, nice swimming/relaxation area. Only thing that lost a star was how busy it was - not with adults but children. Think I went when a child's swimming class had started. Pool isn't really big enough to have children's classes

Been a member of gymetc. For your 8 years on and off, occasionally before gymetc erected the extension I did try different gyms because the workout area wasn't big enough but now with the extension and the most recent addition of the park area instead of the movie room, the workout area has plenty of room even on busy times of the day. And the spa/pool area, well that just speaks for itself, absolutely relaxing and beautiful in every way. The spa area outshines any other spas I have visited. Highly recommended and it's not always how much you pay you get better as at gymetc. you pay less and get more

The majority of the facilities are great and although I don’t have a membership including classes, it’s good value for money. The staff work hard to maintain the areas that need it. The major thing that marks the place down for me is the shower and toilet facilities. The showers are utterly bizarre in that the the pump lasts around 15 seconds and you have to constantly repress it, with the key factor being privacy. The boards between showers are all but see through and there is NO COVER IN THE FRONT?! In my opinion it encourages people to NOT use the shower and pool amenities and overshadows what is otherwise a fairly decent gym.

Really enjoyed sauna and steam room. It was so relaxing and clean, everything is good 🥰👍🏻but not happy because I paid £25 and I can’t use the membership in a different branch

I have been going here for about 3 years. The pool & spa are better than some hotel spa's I have visited. It has a large jacuzzi, outdoor section, hydrotherapy, 2 steam rooms, a sauna & a lovely pool. Showers are good too. The gym is also well equipped. It's a pity they have replaced the original computerised steppers. They also don't seem to mop up as much now 😔

Was once an absolute powerhouse of a gym. Sadly it relies on what it's reputation was many years ago. Questionable decisions made with changes to the gym floor, but understand what their thoughts behind this was. Unfortunately didn't land as intended. The kit is a mix of hammer strength mainly. Nice plate loaded selection in their extention. Tired kit is a harsh phrase instead will refer to it as tried and tested. When this kit requires maintenance, sourcing parts can be difficult leading to long delays. The staff was what made the experience stand out. The Personal trainers range in ability. Many long standing which is a plus. Wet side facilities rate highly. For the price you can't argue with what you get. Great value. It's an OK gym. Reputation tarnished from previous management. Potential to rise again with the right investment.

I am writing this review based on an awful experience earlier this year. I'm a care worker, and the children in our care would frequent Gym ETC quite regularly, always accompanied by two members of our staff. There would never be a problem, we'd always feel welcome. Except when Linda the Manager would be on the front desk. This woman goes out of her way to be difficult. You'd think that being a with a child in care as well as being regular customers that you'd be treated with some respect, tact, compassion. Nope. Not at all. Linda would always make things difficult when we'd arrive. This particular day, Linda accused our staff of lying about the child's age....for literally no reason at all. She contested that one of our staff was even a care worker, even after we proved so with identification and an accompanying email from our office. She demanded the child present identification, saying that it's policy with the gym. I explained that he didn't have ID and that we'd never had a problem before. At this point, Linda accused me of "probably intimidating" her staff in the past when she wasn't there. I told Linda that she'd now crossed a line. This accusation was as unjustified as it was ridiculous. Linda then told us to get of HER gym. I explained to her that it isn't HER gym, that's she's a manager....a terrible one at best. We all left very disappointed and felt let down. The child in our care hadn't left the house for 2 weeks, we'd finally managed to persuade him to come and relax in the spa area....take his mind off his troubles, help with his anxiety, depression and PTSD. This was disgustingly snatched away from him by a power crazy, cruel and cold hearted member of your staff. If you go through the reviews online, ask your customers and your staff (two of which were on the front desk witnessing this ordeal, who mouthed "sorry" to us as Linda was carrying on with her apalling rants).....you'll realise this was not an isolated incident. We really love the gym, the facilities, the staff....this woman ruins it all.

Fantastic facilities and good value. I stopped going because it gets far too busy and the pool always seems to have kids swimming lessons going on. If they had a separate pool for the kids I'd probably rejoin.

Honestly is hands down the nicest gym around. I returned here after a short break and I’m so relieved they’ve decided to turn the volume on the music down a little bit (maybe it depends who is on shift) but it’s a much more friendly environment for those with autism or sensory overload. Only points for improvement would be- Please consider adding more cubicles and turning the heating on in the changing rooms! And it would be great if staff could remind large groups to remain respectful and aware of those around them when using pool areas etc. it’s hard to buy into the whole “spa feel” thing when surrounded with lads shouting at each other across the pool and creating huge tidal waves in the hot tub. 🙄

The male at the front desk who lacked hair follicles (obviously because he is in a creatine monohydrate surplus) was nothing but rude to me and my peers upon entry. When I requested to purchase a day pass he was very tergiversate about it. His demeaner came across rather unpardonable as the sheen of his oval, misshaped head beamed into my left iris burning away at the pupil. Not to mention, if I possessed a spare piece of chewing gum I would pop it out the packet and force him to masticate it vigorously. His breath was pongy and pungent with a residue of marmite crusted in the upper corner of his lip. The denticulation was sub-par, he had a crooked angular overlapping set of gnashers. The state of these teeth was giving me severe trichotillomania.

This gym has the bonus of a pool as well as a large gym area and classes in the studio or spin room. It gets busy at peak times so it is worth considering when you go, although it's not as bad as pre pandemic. The staff are friendly and helpful. The pool does do swimming lessons early evening so it does mean that the changing room and pool are noisy at times. If you don't like children you need to go swimming later. There are a wide cross section of people use the gym so you don't feel intimidated by gym bunnies which can be a problem at other places. Worth a try if you are local.

New management has massively improved the cleaniness and overall operation of the gym. Equipment is clean, refurbed and all working. Someone always greets you when you get in too. Much better than it used to be

Only recently got back after a long absence. I use the pool etc and leave the gym side to the big boys. The staff are very friendly and always very helpful.

I've been a member for over 10 years...love it.no complaints. But recently I've not been able to relax in the jacuzzi or steam rooms for groups of lads and men constantly talking loudly and laughing. It's meant to be a place for relaxing not talking to your mates like your in the pub. So annoying, keep it down lads.

Great swimming pool and spa facilities. There's a large indoor jacuzzi, which goes out into the open too. two steam rooms and a sauna. Many other gym activities, but we just used the swimming facilities today. We really enjoyed it today, ut's so relaxing and it's the best swimming and gym facilities in our opinion!

Best gym I have ever used! The staff are always very friendly, especially Chris who is always very welcoming even at 6am in the morning. The gym is always clean and there is never a shortage of equipment. I would 100% recommend this gym to anyone who is considering joining.

Trained here on and off since 2013. The facilties are fantastic, plenty of space and equipment. Regularly invest in improvements and have extended a couple of times since I first came. I should tell people it's no good to put them off and keep it quieter but I can't.

Really good facilities. Good quality machines, friendly staff, clean, can be difficult to get a machine between 5pm and 7pm. Car parking is tricky. Unfortunately they have in their prices significantly

Been a few years since I've I visited this gym and came back today. The staff seem really cool, the facilities are decent, I'm liking the new fake grass area. My only gripe is the tired showers / tiles etc, it's about time they were all refurbished and the showers made all consistently powerful.

Website claims to allow Free Day Passes. Only available at 2 sites because "due to the facilities and size of the clubs". I was asked to pay £15 to check the club out. When queried I was told it was made clear on the drop down (it's not see the screenshot). I asked for head office address and was ignored. I don't think they care if they want your business. Might be an awesome gym but people answering emails care it seems.

Was looking a new gym however will not be considering these guys, the telephone number on Google for the Leyland gym does not work, I called the Newcastle head office and it was just a answer machine saying all the information is on the website, no good if you want to talk to someone. Visited the website and had standard opening times but not Christmas opening times.....also no other contact details for the Leyland gym....will try else where........

  • 3/5 James M. 2 years ago on Google
Good gym. However there is no way to contact the gym before arrival to find out which of the machines/sauna and steam room areas are going to be out of use.

  • 5/5 Neil H. 2 years ago on Google
Quality gym, great staff loads of equipment to work out with whether its cardio or weight training with varied classes to suit all, pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam rooms are perfect like all gyms try and avoid peak times to enjoy fully !
