Awesome spot for lunch. Super quick, small spot where you can see everything. Very friendly, welcoming staff. You can smell the deliciousness when you get out of your car. Nice little patio right out front with a small indoor seating area. Everything was at a good price and they have so many easy to choose from options. The fries were on point and every sauce I tried was great, everything is made fresh after you order it. The wings though . . . . . Holy jeez, sooo goood(must try) perfect amount of sauce and crispness, not slimey at all. Would recommend stopping by if your driving through the nice area of South St. Paul. This is our new lunch spot while working in the area.

The two coney dog basket was awesome. The fries are really good, and the dogs are delicious. The BBQ chicken sandwich was ok, but nothing to write home about. The staff are very friendly. There is limited seating inside which was fine since most of the business was for carry out orders. I would go back and try their chicken dinners. Prices are very reasonable.

I've been supporting this restaurant on and off over the Covid time because I like their fried chicken dinner meals. I've never tried anything else and I guess I am missing out on the onion rings! I usually order the 12 piece dinner deal because I want the left overs! (reduced price on Mondays and Tuesdays) Their chicken tastes great as it has for years. I have a little bit of a drive to pick it up but I don't mind. The only thing missing was the butter for the buns and the napkins! I guess I did see the napkins in the lobby so I could have picked them up myself. The price for this deal was $43.00 which included two pieces of carrot cake for dessert. Do not miss this cake if you like carrot cake! This time we tried the potato wedges and they were great. We usually request no salt added fries. This might be a little expensive for our dining budget but these days prices are going up. Don't forget to leave a good cash tip in the bucket by the carry out credit card payment area. ($5 only buys one gallon of gas!)

I ordered the 1/2 chicken (4 pieces) with fries and coleslaw. Awesome chicken! Breading was perfection! White meat was just as juicy as the dark meat. My meal was around $14. I highly recommend. Several small tables inside and food is ordered at a counter with menu on the wall. Opened in 1960s! Pressure cooked chicken.

Decent tasting food that come in smaller portion sizes. I ordered the Cowboy Burger and their description and image was either extremely misleading or they just left out the onion ring topping on my burger. The onion rings were my main attraction as to why I selected that burger and for it to have none was pretty disappointing. The onion rings topping is what makes that burger the Cowboy Burger and to miss that topping takes away that whole idea & experience. You can see from my images how sad that burger appears. Cheese Curds were over cooked/burnt, poor flavor, and many didn’t have any cheese in them at all. They do offer a large selection of food items and good basket options. Pretty lackluster experience and I had high hopes for this place.

I can't say enough good things about this place. The Coop catered our wedding and we can't stop hearing about how fun our wedding was and how good the food was! Karen helped me so much when I was trying to plan the order. I was borderline, or maybe totally annoying because I had no one to guide me but she never acted annoyed, was so gracious, it made me feel special and valued. Joel made and delivered our order. I accidentally ordered chaffing dishes that weren't deep enough and he hung around until we got new ones, was so patient and kind. The food is Sooooooo delicious and a great value. Please support this local business and amazing people! I didn't get a chance to take pics, but that's how you know it was great!! My many thanks to the Coop!!

Amazing food. Everything is made after you order it. The chicken and ribs were very good. The mashed potatoes were instant. But you don't go there for the mashed potatoes it's for the meat. Best to call ahead your order so you don't have to wait. The staff was very friendly. We dined in but would call and do takeout next time.

My family and I came here for the first time 8/8 dinner hours. We walk in and we're pleasantly greeted and had let the staff know we needed a minute to look over the menu. We could definitely tell the grease needed to be clean, changed or whatever their process is it needed it. Why were looking over the menu a guy in a wheel chair frequents The Coop quite a bit he said and really talked the food up. Saying for example, "you'll never get chicken anywhere else." We place a order for chicken, fries and Mac n cheese bites. The chicken came with no sauce, not even asked if we wanted any. Weather is had to be paid for or not. You could definitely smell the old grease coming from the chicken. The flavor was good, a bit over seasoned. Trust me we are chicken cookers and aren't afraid to use seasoning. The breast were dry, this can happen cooking in old grease. The fries? For sure good! The Mac bites were over cooked, hollowed out and non edible. Again old grease will do that. Cooking time changes with old grease fyi. Lastly, as were sitting inside waiting for our food and my husband talking to the Man in the wheel chair having a pleasant conversation, his order is ready and he leaves. As soon as he leaves a taller Asian staff wearing a red shirt and glasses turns around toward the dining/waiting area and he says, "oh thank God." That was SO disrespectful and unacceptable on many different levels. This Man is talking highly of your food and this is what you say when he leaves?? Makes you wonder what he said about us when we left?! Don't know if we'll be back. That alone left a bad taste in our mouth. Grease can be chabged out. However that type of behavior usually sticks around. Sadly, he's a local and were not!

One of the best places to grab a bite in South Saint Paul. Great prices with a wide variety of items on the menu. I'd recommend getting chicken, their name is The Coop after all.

The cook just walked off at 642 and left the cashier to tell us they aren't taking any more orders after we stood in line to order. Thanks bro...give the cashier a raise and fire that guy. If you are closing early just lock the door dont let people stand in line to order and walk off the job.

This isn't the first time we've ordered from The Coop, but it's been a while, through no fault of theirs. The food is hot and delicious. I can't believe I almost forgot about this little gem in my neighborhood. The fryers and fries are on point. I loved my burger! Honestly, I would have bought more fried goodness if I could! The mini donuts taste just like those at the fair. We'll be back!

Loved this place and the food so much that we brought our family back! The chicken was seasoned and cooked beautifully, so juicy down to the last bite. The burgers and sandwiches were so tasty, I could have eaten several! We will definitely continue to come back and sample more of the menu. 🤩

I've always loved the burgers. They are simple but really good. The onion rings were perfectly crunchy and delicious. Their menu goes way beyond these simple items but I've never been able to get away from them because that's what I crave when I think of The Coop.

Love the food - however the establishment appears to be ran by teenagers or adults who act like teenagers. It’s always a long wait due to lack of focus and they are always just gabbing about non sense like a negative customer or scolding the frying guy because he forgot to drop fries. I could tell you all of this girls business but I won’t :)

From the moment I pulled up I knew it was going to be a delight! Boy was I right!! The young man behind the counter even did a calculation for me to figure out the least expensive option for what I wanted.... who does that... that guy!!!! Initially I was like, what no sauce, then bit into the chicken and OMG 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤!!!! Literally to die for😍😍😍😍 It didn't need any sauce whatsoever. I also got the ribs since it was their Thursday special. The ribs were a little over sauced but I'm just weird and don't a lot. The BBQ sauce was great and the ribs were cooked very well. I also tried the Mac n cheese bites which were too sour for but pricey for what you get. Only 10 minutes from home is going to be bad for me🤪😝🤣, I'll DEFINITELY be back!!!!

My original plans to feed a small army of 35 fell through. I placed an online order through ChowNow the day of my event. I truly felt bad for throwing my order at The Coop but was in a bind. They filled my order with NO errors!!! (For the record, I DO NOT recommend doing what I did to any establishment.) While the manger was very thankful for the business, he would have really appreciated a 24 hour heads up; which I completely understand. The food was well prepared, tasty, and received rave reviews from the small army. I will keep The Coop in mind for future events in their area. (With a 24 hour notice of course.) Thank you to the staff at The Coop, job well done!

Food was out of this world as usual. The best fries around and delicious cheese curds.

Loved this! My husband went here alot as a kid and since we were in the area he had to go relive some memories. The chicken was perfectly done, not dry, and these are now my most favorite fries around! Very small dining area, but since we don't live in the area we had to dine it. If I lived closer, we would definitely visit more often!

Great fried chicken and great vibe. The Coop has been around for a long time making It a very well known place to those that live in the area. You can't go here and not get the chicken dinners with mashed potato and coleslaw.

The Coop is a family owned and operated treasure to fried chicken fandom. With that being said, the restaurant opened in 1963 (pre Beatles coming to the U.S.) continues to this day to serve up great fried chicken with a side of great customer service.

This place is a local treasure, and has been around longer than I have. I have been a part of South Saint Paul for 30 years, The Coop has always been a part of my life. I have eaten here and still eat here it brings back great memories of old times with family members because our Roots Run Deep And The Coop is always been there. The easy answer is to say that they're chicken is very good, but really most things are good here my double bacon burger basket the last time I went was phenomenal. Even though it was my own fault I forgot to grab my coleslaw don't forget to grab the coleslaw it's always good.

The food is excellent, but the seating is about 8-9 people, but there is also outdoor seating. Will be back.

First time here, the chicken sandwich was flavorful and juicy plus really crispy as well. The only thing I would complain about is the portion size of the chicken on the sandwich, but otherwise everything else was good as with the fries being well seasoned and crispy.

Amazing place! I like the atmosphere and the people. We stopped here for lunch and they had our food out to us very quickly.

Tried to call in an order on Sunday at 6:35pm. Their very own website says they are open til 8pm. Google says they are open til 8pm. When I called I was told they close at 7pm. Kind of frustrating to a customer that wants to place an order 1 hour 25 minutes before advertised closing time. Might want to update your online hours!

This was my first time here. The chicken was absolutely amazing, juicy, crispy and golden. The mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy, the coleslaw was nice and flavorful. And the Coop sauce? Well, needless to say I was an immediate fan. 10/10 if I'm ever in the area again I'll come here and bring friends.

Awesome chicken and fries..I don't know that I've tried anything else tbh because they are a chicken joint and do it so well!

Food what's garbage no seasoning I don't see how they say they the best chicken place then we ordered $30 worth of food and didn't receive no Ranch hot sauce anyting had to pay for it weird but to me not what it seems to be then the Coney Island is not a Coney Island real hot dog I'm from Detroit Michigan the home of the Coney Island and what they have is not a Coney Island false advertisement on the Coney Island I wouldn't take my grandmother there garbage go somewhere else Popeye's or k f c

First time visiting this place and it was great. The decor inside is cool. I got an 8 piece chicken without sides, a coney dog, onion rings, a chicken sandwich and a side of coleslaw. Everything tasted great and was hot. Their chicken is spectacularly crispy and juicy. No complaints at all. I will most definitely be back to try the ribs and to get more chicken! Love the prices too. Please try this place out, you won't regret it!!!

Cute local restaurant with amazing smelling chicken. I love that they have outdoor dining available it’s a really small place you should check it out. It’s always quite busy so I’m sure you’ll love it. It has delivery available through DoorDash.

If you get the fried chicken it is like the finger of an angel blessed this deliciousness. Most definitely will be back!!

1st time going and it didn't go smoothly. Was told order would be done in 1/2 hour, arrived to pick up and it wasn't done so I waited an additional 10 min. Than I ordered the 12 piece with potato wedges when I went to pay it was more since they converted it to the dinner. I paid thinking the pricing was off until I got home and see they changed the order. I don't plan on going back
