    ULTIMATE CATFISH- HOTEL OF HORRORS I would firstly like to say that if things had been resolved, a negative review would not be needed, as I understand it can be bad for business. However this experience has called for a lengthy review in the hope that no one else will waste their money and be left with the disappointment that we were. Hands down the worst experience I’ve had. Firstly when we booked to stay, we had not realised there was a shared bathroom with complete strangers. Partly our fault, but very odd. So we paid extra to upgrade to a family suite for some basic privacy. Upon getting into the room we were instantly disappointed. The walls were scraped, chipped and pealing away, looking very worn and not like the images provided on Booking.com. The sink was in the bedroom instead of the bathroom (and was constantly dripping/broken), and the ‘bathroom’ had a toilet that wouldn’t even flush. The lighting was so poor you could barely read a book with the main light on and would cause serious eye strain. In addition to this there was constant noise from the builders next door which we were not forewarned about. Oh and the walls were so thin we could hear other people watching their TVs. We politely asked for a refund as we did not want to stay, and we’re keen to go elsewhere as soon as possible. We were told that we had to go through Booking.com instead and that we could stay up in the room until we had sorted it. After speaking to Booking.com we were told it was in fact up to the hotel manager themselves to give us a refund, and that they had tried to get through but no one was answering (probably so they could avoid giving is our money back.) We had sent over pictures and videos to Booking.com who agreed it was not as it was listed and was not a pleasant place to stay. It was poorly misadvertised, however due to manager discretion they could not do anything to help. No refund was given, except the £14 we paid to upgrade for our own toilet. Over £100 was wasted on an unpleasant, damaged room which we did not end up staying in. At one point we were refused a refund because ‘we had been in the room and now it has to be cleaned due to covid’ but how on Earth are you to know if the room is stayable without walking in? Funnily enough, we don’t have x Ray vision. We were then refused a refund because ‘there was no noise. We were lying’ and then refused because ‘there is nothing wrong with the room’ despite the pictures and Booking.com agreeing. Staff were rude, dismissive and quite frankly disgraceful. It makes me sick to think that 2 days of wages were thrown away and given to a team of staff that won’t even acknowledge their mistake. I understand that things are tough and covid has thrown a spanner in the works for many, but the service and hotel quality was genuinely sickening. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

    I had the ground floor single room, pleasantly clean, good shower and amazingly quiet. Plenty of free parking on nearby roads. Managed to park on site. Few minutes walk to the beach and eating places. Very welcoming host family 10 out of 10. Would definitely book again.

    Worse service and place I've ever experienced !!! Please don't book here you will regret it . Scamer ,lier and very unhelpful .that's all I'm saying . If you don't believe me try it ?

    Customer service was good can't fault that,although was a bit offended in the morning when we had to wait for our deposit reversal while she checked we hadn't trashed the room but only doing her job We were upgraded apparently! the room was quite big,had a kitchenette .shower was quite claustrophobic!! We were seeing a gig at the Pavilion so it was a very good location for that Walls were paper thin and bed not the comfiest so not a great sleep!!.wouldn't make a return visit to be honest

    The hotel had all that's needed including a brand new fitted kitchen! In a walking distance from the beach and all the attractions! We absolutely loved it! Lovely staff and spotless clean room! For this price I totally recommend!!

    Bed sunk in middles and squeezed radically when l moved. No glass for water or jug. Permanent guests downstairs looked like hobo’s Not a good experience at all.

    Got to the hotel with the invalid room code Entered the room and was occupied by someone else Was given another room and soon after found that also was booked for someone else. Moved again and on my second morning after already booked for three nights not two I was informed that I was supposed to be checking out incorrectly. There’s two toilets and showers that serve almost thirty rooms Feels like a halfway house after leaving prison or something. Not a great hotel

    Worst hotel I have been, bug bites all over my body and my daughter, dirty carpet and dirty bathroom and dirty rooms. Don’t go unless you want bugs bites

    Well it depends what you expect in a stay! Booking app messages didn't send the code (or recognise the booking) for one of our rooms due to a software error but a nice chap sorted it all out quickly. Bed was old, room needed updating, shower leaked and door was broken. But sheets were spotlessly clean and the shower, kettle etc worked fine. Limited parking outside but we parked ok. Convenient location, about 2 mins from the train station and 10 minutes from the pier etc. We were surprised with the number of single males who obviously had been staying there for some time, even more when Essex Police came for a check on one of them! It might be a bit intimidating for the solo female traveller. However, pluses are it's well located, facilities are fine (if you want 5* book a five star hotel!) its down at heel but the bedding was clean, it was surprisingly quiet at night and we had no real issues. Its an old fashioned seaside hotel - you'll pay £50-60 less a night compared to your Premier Inn etc. If you just want somewhere convenient to crash, it's perfect. If you want more than that, go elsewhere but expect to pay more.

    Worst hotel I have ever been! Showering with cold water, smelly rooms (strong smell of dump and non aired rooms, some of them look literary like a rats hole, strong smell of cooked fish, throughout the day), extremely poor service! In 7 days they attended the room just once!!! The first room I stayed in had broken bed, no hot water, torn up beddings! People are grumpy and rude! Instead of apologizing for the inconveniences they shouted and argued with me! They seemed completely unaware of the fact that they should be there to help! Checking in online, via there app, simply didn't work! For the poor service they provide the prices are more than expensive, for the price I paid I could have had very very decent hotel! I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!

    I always stay at the Devine Hotel when I visit my family at Westcliffe On Sea. The location of the hotel is perfect and very close to my familys home. As always I was made very welcome when I arrived. Mrs Roni and the staff are warm and friendly and go out of their way to ensure my stay is a pleasant experience. The room was clean and comfortable, and I look forward to staying visiting once again in the near future

    Oyo Devine Beach Hotel is a wonderful place to Lodge. The few staff we met were level headed and Customer centric, Particularly Mrs. Roni who was very helpful, committed and professional in her service to users. Thanks to Roni. I will keep referring clients to Oyo Devine Beach Hotel.

    Cold room so I slept in my coat. noisy extractor fan which banged in the wind, rain dripping through bathroom ceiling. I checked out early as I couldn’t bear it any longer

    Really bad customer service. Was standing outside pressing the buzzer for over half an hour till someone came. Room was horrible and dirty I left after being in the room for 5 min because their was also bed bugs

    Outrageous disgusting disgusting. establishment, the word poor it’s insignificant here I had an emergency surgery 2days before my booking, we were traveling from London for a weekend with our daughter. my partner had to cancel our booking explaining why we couldn’t manage to come, the hotel didn’t care less about the customer service,and our situation. we lost our money, team support didn’t want to refund us regardless,all you people care about it’s money. Think twice before booking in here. Zero star required

    The room and bathroom are quite small, but tidy and clean. I booked a single room with shared bathroom but they upgraded me to an ensuite without extra fees. The most stand out point is that all the staff are very friendly and welcoming! I checked out late due to my sleeping problem, but the staff was understanding about my situation and did not charge me penalty fee which I am very appreciated.
