Have been here many times and normally there is great food and service. We brought family that was visiting from out of the area and didn't even have the waiter come introduce himself for 15 minutes. The server had 1 other 8 seat table, and spent most his time hanging out behind the glass partition and talking with other staff. My family member had to go to the bar as we didnt have anyone bringing us drinks, and they got their own. Took another 15 minutes to have the order taken. When we got our drinks the server spilled on my husband and said let me get something for that and didnt come back until bringing the food a long time later. After an hour of being seated the server brought the food out. The fries were cold for 2 of us. The mac and cheese was cold for 2 people. The Rushmore chicken sandwich had a sliver of avocado and bacon was burned. The Cowboy Cordons queso was cold and rubber . The waiter didn't come back for 10 minutes to check the food. We went to the hostess and even had her test the fries 2 minutes after the food was on our table, and she agreed they were cold and old. We actually asked for another server. Our server came back and asked if all was well, we said no and that we asked for someone else, and the server yelled at us and said he doesnt cook the food. The food all looked and tasted like it had sat in the warmer for way too long. We asked for a manager and it took 15 minutes. The manager told us that there was no way the food was old. The manager sat there and argued instead of asking how to make it better. The manager said she would comp the meal, which is not what we wanted, we wanted to be able to eat hot food and pay happily, and then she grabbed our plates and left. I would not recommend anyone going there.

Stopped in during the fourth of July weekend. There was quite a crowd outside so I assumed the place would be full, but it was relatively empty, even though the wait was considerable. I sat at the bar, which was very comfortable ordering a New York strip from the bartender. The menu had solid offerings, with a generous number of appetizers. Overall, the meal was average, nothing exceptional about it but it also was not bad. The steak could have used a little more seasoning and a little less time on the grill. What was hard was listening to the constant stream of people complaining about the wait and the staff defending an obviously understaffed situation. I think the place would be great to visit during the off season, but for this time of year I would use caution.

Great spot for dinner in Spearfish. Gets busy quick so get a reservation or get there early. Our service was excellent and the food was generally very good. My only complaint was that my salad came with quite a bit of brown and wilting lettuce. Had the prime rib special on a Friday night and it was delicious. Potato smashers as a side were excellent.

THE BEST RESTAURANT IN AMERICA! After a 10 day road trip acrossed the US, boy did we save the best for last! Absolutely AMAZING FOOD! Every appetizer, meal and dessert plate was full, very very tasty and satisfying!! We are 9hrs away and would in a HEARTBEAT drive 9hrs to eat here again! We can't stop talking about this place! Don't hesitate just GO...RUN...DRIVE...to this AWESOME restaurant!! Love love LOVE IT!! We ABSOLUTELY will be back!! Waitresses we're super nice and did a fantastic job as well! Kuddos to the cook..give them a HUGE raise!

Two employees at the I-90 welcome/ rest center heading to South Dakota from Wyoming recommended Steerfish Steak and Smoke. I'm traveling with a friend and he wanted a steak dinner, so we went in this evening. Steerfish was fantastic. The staff were friendly throughout. Our server Stormy was spectacular, very attentive and helpful with recommendations. The food was delicious. We had a great experience. Our only regret is we are from out of town so we may never go back. We'd definitely stop by again if we were in Spearfish in the future. Check it out. We had about a 20 minute wait for a table around 6:45pm on a Monday, but everything after the was very efficient.

First visit - service was pretty terrible but the food was good. BBQ shrimp was super good, the Gambler (buffalo chicken sandwich) was great, but the Buffalo burger was simply decent. They tried serving it to me without a bun. And it was overdone. Overall I'd return but was a little disappointed.

Went in at 7:30 and waited until about 9 before going to the host stand to pay for our drinks because no food had arrived. When we tried to pay they said the food had just come to the window but that they would comp us the meal and pack it in to go boxes. Got home and saw the burnt mess pictured and just gave up and tossed it. This place has really dropped its standards over the years.
