(Translated by Google) The Old Town area is one of the best and most popular tourist attractions in Jakarta among tourists besides Monas and Ancol. Well, maybe for those of you who have never been here will be wondering, actually there is anything in the Old City that makes this place a game hunted by travelers. The main attraction of the Old City lies in the Dutch colonial heritage buildings that are still well preserved. Navigating every corner of the Old City will make you feel as if you are back in the past. Bicycle, ancient windows, tiled buildings with small towers at the end, all reinforce the atmosphere of the past. Taking pictures with the background of ancient buildings to the museum, of course, will look beautiful with a vintage impression. In the morning, afternoon, or evening, the Old City always offers a different beautiful angle. This makes the Old City one of the coolest photo spots in Jakarta, a favorite of young people.

Kota Tua Jakarta (also known as Old Batavia or Batavia Lama) is a historical district in North Jakarta, Indonesia, located on the northern edge of the city, encompassing the 17th-century Dutch colonial center of the city and its surroundings. It is one of the oldest continuously inhabited areas in Jakarta and the largest concentration of surviving 17th and 18th-century buildings in Indonesia. History In 1619, the Dutch East India Company (VOC) established a trading post in the area, which was then known as Sunda Kelapa. The post quickly grew into a major trading center, and in 1621, the VOC decided to build a fortified city around it. The city was named Batavia, after the Batavian tribe that inhabited the area. Batavia was the capital of the Dutch East Indies from 1621 to 1942. During this time, the city grew into a major commercial and cultural center. It was also a center of Dutch colonial power in Asia. In 1942, during the Second World War, Japanese forces occupied Batavia. The city was renamed Jakarta in 1945, after Indonesia declared its independence from the Netherlands. Today, Kota Tua Jakarta is a popular tourist destination. The district is home to a number of historical landmarks, including the Fatahillah Museum, the Wayang Museum, and the Bank Indonesia Museum. It is also home to a number of restaurants, cafes, and shops. Here are some of the most popular attractions in Kota Tua Jakarta: • Fatahillah Square: The main square in Kota Tua Jakarta, and a popular spot for people-watching. • Museum Fatahillah: A museum dedicated to the history of Jakarta. • Wayang Museum: A museum dedicated to the art of wayang kulit, a traditional Indonesian shadow puppetry. • Bank Indonesia Museum: A museum dedicated to the history of banking in Indonesia. • Sunda Kelapa Harbor: A historic harbor that was once the main port of Batavia. • Glodok: Jakarta's Chinatown, and a great place to try Chinese food. • Kota Intan Bridge: A pedestrian bridge that offers views of the Ciliwung River. The lack of planning in the Kota Tua Jakarta area is a major problem. This is due to a number of factors, including: • Lack of coordination and cooperation: There is no clear division of responsibilities between the various agencies and organizations involved in the management of Kota Tua Jakarta. This has led to a lack of coordination and cooperation, which has made it difficult to address the area's many problems. • Lack of funding: Kota Tua Jakarta is a large and complex area, and it requires significant funding to be properly maintained and developed. However, the government has not provided enough funding to address the area's needs. • Lack of public awareness: Many people are not aware of the importance of Kota Tua or the need to preserve it. This lack of awareness has made it difficult to gain public support for the area's development. Some of the specific problems that have resulted from the lack of planning in Kota Tua Jakarta include: • Poor cleanliness: The area is often dirty and littered, which can be a turnoff for visitors. • Lack of security: The area can be unsafe at night, which can deter visitors from visiting after dark. • Lack of parking: There is not enough parking available in the area, which can make it difficult for visitors to get around. • Lack of amenities: The area lacks basic amenities such as public restrooms and restaurants, which can make it a less enjoyable experience for visitors. To address these problems, it is important to improve coordination and cooperation between the various agencies and organizations involved in the management of Kota Tua Jakarta. The government should also provide more funding to the area, and it should raise public awareness of the importance of Kota Tua Jakarta. Kota Tua Jakarta is a fascinating place to visit, with a rich history and a unique atmosphere. It is a reminder of Jakarta's past as a major colonial city, and it is well worth a visit for anyone who wants to learn more about the history of Indonesia.

A heritage place of the colonial era that is still awake. The place is very comfortable for a relaxing place with friends or family especially in the afternoon. The place is clean. It feels to have lived in ancient times. Colonial buildings that have the characteristics of ancient Europe. Everything is very good.

A large and historic place with strong links to the colonial era. I can't say it's worth the visit, but if you want to visit, choose a cloudy day or visit in the evening. Then you can take the opportunity to walk around the area.

The location is what foreigners would wish to visit. It's an old culturally intense place. There are lots of exotic hotels around the area too. I gave a 4-star review because of the street singers. They are not friendly at all. I hope the place could do something about it.

Kota Tua Jakarta is a fascinating sightseeing destination with rich historical significance. It offers a glimpse into Jakarta's colonial past and showcases well-preserved architectural landmarks. The vibrant square is home to various attractions. Kota Tua is also known for its street vendors and local food stalls, where you can sample authentic Indonesian delicacies. Remember to wear comfortable clothing and footwear, as you may do a fair amount of walking while exploring the district. Also, consider visiting during weekdays to avoid larger crowds. It offers a blend of historical landmarks, cultural experiences, and culinary delights, making it an enjoyable destination for tourists and locals alike. Suitable for history enthusiasts and those interested in Jakarta's colonial heritage

(Translated by Google) This tour is still open, but still applies health protocols. But unfortunately now the city is limited. Can't linger, can't just hang out. So if we want to come here we have to have a goal, where to go. Because the field was not opened because it was still sterile. (Original) Wisata ini masih tetap dibuka, tapi tetap menerapkan protokol kesehatan. Namun sayang nya sekarang kotu dibatasi. Tidak bisa berlama2, tidak bisa sekedar nongkrong. The historic district with the Dutch colonial architecture is amazing. The huge Square is full of vibrant, colourful atmosphere, including Street, performance and band playing live music for karaoke participants. Lots of museums and even a building housing. A ghost train… The Plaza, vendors – one in particularrenting very colourful bikes with matching oversized hats and scarves added to the party like atmosphere. We really enjoyed an afternoon here. We ate at Batavia restaurant which is an old world Restaurant overlooking the square great food but a little expensive. But you pay for what you get the food was sensational. And of course the venue was amazing.

Oh yes, they also have lots of museums you can visit. Details information regarding ticket prices and visiting times can be seen on the official website.

Old City Jakarta known as Kota Tua also known as Old Batavia. If you want to go there Open everyday and 24 hours but bank Indonesia museum opened Tuesday to Sunday 9 am to 3 pm ,Monday and National holiday it is closed. it is same for Fatahillah Museum . We don't need to pay to enjoy this old City, but if we want to enter the museum , we should pay . If you come by Transjakarta , you can stop in Kota halte . I suggest you to come at 1 p.m to enjoy the museum and in afternoon to enjoy the open field until night. We will find live music and some creative things there. If we feel hungry and thirsty, we can have food and drinks at Cafe arround this old City. There's Batavia Cafe that is very famous.

You can take photos with them and give some money as appreciation.

(Translated by Google) I went there on Saturday night, there were a lot of photo services together with Jakarta's Special Costumes, Dutch Noni, Anime, and Cartoon characters, if the background photos of the Old City Buildings were good the afternoon they were still bright and cool. (Original) Saya kesana malam minggu, banyak jasa foto bareng Kostum Khas Jakarta, Noni Belanda, Anime, dan tokoh Kartun, kalau foto2 background Gedung2 Kota Tua bagusnya sore2 kali yak masih terang dan adem.

The other side of Kota Tua (Old City). Due to COVID-19 health protocol restriction, people are not allowed to enter the main square, but I found this gem instead. Definitely a recommended option for a stroll with your loved ones in busy Jakarta city

I think the best time to visit is around 3pm to 5pm when the sun is not so hot anymore. It's free entry. Explore the back of this place (the river). The view is better and less people.

It's REALLY nice now. Free entrance, there's so much to see, walk just a little bit outside the place, there's a lot of street food merchant. Crowded, especially on weekend.

Why there is a stage and are so many stalls in front of the museum?? So annoying.. we could not get the beauty of the building and the result of the renovations.. those bazaar should be placed beside the batavia cafe, at the alley.

If you are in Jakarta this is one of the nicest areas to check out. It's quite interesting and there is plenty happening. A good photo area and nice old buildings and a big square.

Historical facts and moments recorded quite well here and old buildings wraped in the outmost of the area. In the night time you may see and meet crowd spread coverred almost the surroumdings walking and sitting enjoy the food and drinks gotten from the area's sellers. In the day working times you'll get many historical information compacted with all the facts therein, while if you are with no body knows the history of the area then it is only a killing time of all your daily activities as well.

Old town open area in reality meaning but has been rebuild for local tourism. Uniquely as typical of Java costal city which has front harbour for local & international trading purpose in the past. Niceee 😍
