When you are on the way to the viewpoint, you can find this strategically positioned restaurant called Fife. The menu is big, and you can find lots of Croatian's typical dishes here. This is not a fancy place at all, and don't expect the best food. It was a decent place with good food for reasonable prices! Definitely try the local wines!

Our Uber driver recommended this place and we absolutely loved it. Everything we ordered was delicious! The fried squid was my favorite, but everyone loved everything. Friendly service, nice atmosphere with outside seating. Good prices. Highly recommend.

Walked right in with the 4 of us. Very busy. OK service. We had several local dishes very reasonably priced. We had goulash, ceviappi, cabbage dish all had flavor and were cooked and presented well.

The same friend that suggested the Taj Mahal in Dubrovnik suggested Fife to us in Split! It’s right at the end of the beautiful boardwalk Riva. Great location! It was a Tuesday night but it was packed! All the outdoor seating was full so we took a seat inside. It was really windy so we didn’t mind at all. The outdoor patio was beautiful though. A great sea side vibe as it looked right onto the Adriatic. It’s a neat layout because they have two buildings that run kitty corner to each other too. They serve a local cuisine (which is always what we look for). The food here is good but the price is even better! Definitely a cheaper option than any other place we found in Split! I had the sea bass which came with mixed veggies and some mash (81kn = £9.27 and Trevor had a meat platter that came with chips (69kn = £7.89). Overall good experience if you’re looking for local and cheap!

Buffet Fife was a great discovery hidden in plain sight with views of the harbor. Not exactly in the parade of places along the promenade but that is a good thing. It specializes in Croatian standbys with wines and beers to match. It is reasonably priced but the quality and quantity of the dishes is unequal. The servers are friendly and willing to spend the time to provide a superior all around dining experience. They have tables inside or out to suit your wishes. Overall it’s as good as it gets anywhere.

This restaurant, located in the Promenade of Split, is a must-try. While their prices are a bit high, the quality of the dishes is fantastic. When we went, there was a long line, but they have both indoor and outdoor seating, so the wait wasn't long. We chose outdoor seating, which had a charming vibe. We ordered Mixed Meat, Grilled Sea Bass, and Dark Beer. The food quality was exceptional, and the fish dish stood out. We had a minor issue with a dark beer, but they quickly replaced it. Despite being packed, the service was prompt. I highly recommend it.

Me and my family went here for lunch. This place has nice outdoor seating, and we wanted a place in the shade and let me tell you the place was FULL! We waited a couple of minutes and we were seated. Also I don't know why there were reviews that said the the staff was bad, because they were super nice! I had the meatballs with spaghetti and they were so tender and flavorful. I also ordered the calamari and were very tasty. I enjoyed my visit here! Super recommended!👌

One of the better places in split! Cheap good with great taste. Reason for 3 stars is that we asked if there were any pork in one of the dishes and the waiter said no, next day we asked another waiter and he told us it was pork in the one we ate before. So make sure to triple check if there’s something you don’t eat. Other than that, it’s a really good place. Forgot to take pictures of the second time we were there but I really recommend the beef and veal stew, it was perfect!

Fast cheap place for local cuisine. We lined up and were quickly seated at a table with two other parties. The food is very simple ("tomato salad" is literally just chopped tomatoes, not even salt on it) but delicious. We had the black risotto, grilled bass, sarma which came with mashed potatoes, and tomato salad. The plates are best for sharing (and meant to be!) and with the price its easy to load up and try a few dishes. They offered us to pay by cash or card. Total came out to 250kn.

We had smoked ham as a starter. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture at the beginning so the one I have has only half of the quantity. We also ordered beer and the red house wine to go alongside the two main dishes. We went for Pašticada with Gnocchi and Lamb and Veal with green peas and mashed potatoes. In resume, it was a great portion. The price was very acceptable and even though it’s not chef’s quality food is has a worthy stop and I recommend it. We didn’t try desserts because we were very satisfied already.

Delicious seafood stew! Just what I needed on a rainy day. The spot has an amazing location right by the water, yet it’s very reasonably priced and the portions are filling. Loved the service too, very friendly and attentive. Great spot for local cuisine, will be going back!

Finally a decent place in split with good food and affordable prices. -taste&quantity: very tasteful homemade style food in quite big portions. Patty stuffed with cheese was delicious. My friend had fried calamari and was well prepared. -price: 2 beers, 1 salad, 1 water, 1 calamari and one Patty for 45€ - service: really polite and fast...willing to explain details about dishes -Atmosphere: a place close to the port, old style traditional restaurant. Excellent choice for Split!

We went based on the good Google reviews but we did not understand the hype about this restaurant, the food is average and the customer service is terrible! The wine selection is really poor and the most “quality premium” one is quite awful. At least the grilled vegetables were tasty

We came to this restaurant 3 nights out or 5 nights in Split! The food was good, large portions, half price of everywhere else, 500ml of house wine for €8. We went to other restaurants in town for dinner and lunch and were disappointed every time, bad food, small portions and expensive. Fried squid was delicious, local sausages loved them, black fish risotto a must try, the schnitzel was not the pan fried beef as I know but delicious anyway.

Nice place, great staff. We got the tuna pate, fried squid and bread. We came for a snack but it ended up being pretty much our dinner. The squid came with fries which was a pleasant surprise. Food was lovely and the house wine was fantastic and very cheap. We got a litre of it between two and by the end of our meal it was pretty much gone. We live in Scotland so the name amuses us and made our decision to eat here. We originally wanted to go to “The Old Terrace” next door but it looked abandoned/closed. Maybe not open yet for summer, but it was 1st June. The squid was great too, loads of it and lovely mayonnaise dip. And the bread was very nice indeed. Great place.

Excellent food, fast, friendly service and good prices. We ordered the cuttlefish risotto and chicken with mushroom sauce. To be honest, I don't know which dish I liked better. Both were delicious. You can't go wrong with this place.

Went here following the recommendation of hotel host, saying it’s local food with half price of those tourists’ area. Shared table as it was already getting busy. Didn’t order anything fancy, just copied the dish from my neighbor — chicken with mushrooms source/smashed potato. Portion is big, but It was so good that I finish the whole plate. Vibe is vivid and cozy, but quite difficult to find table at peak hour. Waiter was good too

Very centrally located, right on the waterfront and 5 minutes walk from Diocletian's palace. Affordable prices and good portions. Menu includes both seafood as well as more hearty central European dishes, such as goulash or stuffed peppers. The wait staff is efficient and friendly. The low prices do tend to draw the backpacker crowd however so it is often crowded, sometimes, very crowded.

Simple, but delicious food. Fish soup is actually a bullion without any pieces of fish. Good value for money! Great and friendly service. It’s possible to pay by card and to take the food away if you prefer to eat on a promenade. The welcoming waitress even gave us some salt to take away.

A good place for seafood although maybe we didn’t order all the right things because it was kind of underwhelming. The pasticada was good, but not much to it. The meat was dry and the gnocchi that was served with it was a bit large and doughy. The sea bass was cooked well, but not much to it either. The service was good so I have to give them that, but the food was not as good as expected. I read an article that this place was losing its touch so maybe they were right.

Very popular and crowded place, which is why you most likely have to share the table with others. The food was great for a good price. If you order a “Ready dish”, it is pre-cooked canteen style dish, but will be super fast served to you.

Restaurant the locals tell you to go to and now we know why ! The food is tasty, and the portions are huge ! They are very busy ( and full of tourists), but you can probably get a table after a few minutes' wait. I recommend getting the black risotto ( even share it . it's that big ! ) Good selection of beers and ciders 😊

Wow, maybe some of the best calamari we have ever tasted and a very large portion for a really good price. The service was super quick and very good. We had 3 meals here during our stay and all were amazing, large portions and great prices. Nice indoor and outdoor seating.

We asked local residents where they go for seafood and they recommended this place. We came and was wonderful! Stuffed chicken is homemade, tribe was amazing! Everything was delicious! Yes. Recommend!

I love this place! Me, and about one million others, since its nearly always slammed with people. The restaurant is very centrally located, right on the waterfront and 5 minutes walk from Diocletian's palace. Affordable prices and good portions. Got the house specialty that is suppose to melt in your mouth, and flavor was great, but it was a little tough. I think the gnocchi was house made and tasty. This is a popular place.

I had an incredible dining experience at Buffet Fife in Split! The food was amazing – we tried the fried squid, chicken fillet with mushroom sauce, and grilled sea bream, and each dish was absolutely perfect. To complement our meal, we ordered both beer and wine, and they paired wonderfully with our dishes. What made this meal truly outstanding was not just the food, but also the welcoming atmosphere and the fantastic vibe of the place. It was clear that the staff put a lot of effort into creating a warm and enjoyable environment for diners. And to top it all off, the pricing was incredibly reasonable. This restaurant offers not just delicious food but also great value for the quality and experience you receive. I can't recommend it enough – it was a perfect dining experience!

Very nice and yummy Croatian crusine, they serve dishes from pasta to risotto, meet and fish dishes, and even pizza, it is cheap since it's is in the touristic area of the town of Hvar

Good local food. The fried squid was very tasty and soft. Affordable prices, considering the average prices in Split in August. Recommended. Service is fast and efficient. Possible to pay by card.

Food was as expected: very good cevapcici with mediocre fries. Fries were soft and a little tasteless. Salad came without dressing and mayonnaise and ketchup was charged for. Atmosphere was very nice though and the prices were alright. Portions were definitely big enough. I’d come again but maybe avoid the fries then.

The food here is so yum, we visited this place twice during our short stay. Their calamari fritters was my husband's absolute favourite while the grilled fish was mine! Pair it with some swiss chard and fries and you've got yourself a perfect meal !

Good authentic food and good service. The goulash was great, almost as good as Czech goulash ;) the prosciutto was good. I wasn't in love with the gnocchi dish but it was good. I really liked the risotto but it was on the salty side.

Very popular place due to low prices and good food quality. It also popular among locals. I was visiting with my mother who was sick. The guy with tattoos sat us at the corner table outside. We agreed at first but then realized it was too windy and my mom wasn't feeling well. We asked to change the table. We even agreed to go back to line. He refused. Pros: FAST service, HUGE portion sizes, VERY REASONABLE prices, OK customer service (better than average in similar tourist areas in Croatia), nice ambiance especially indoors, a lot of sitting options, servers speak good English and treat customers alright.

Great local restaurant. Great food and affordable dishes. I would recommend the goulash with gnocchi, they're super delicious. The only downside is that in winter they do not have any stove or heater and while seating you can get cold

Very good place if you would like to try the local food! Traditional dishes, with plenty of food and excellent service! We ordered two traditional dishes to try: Black risotto and another with meat. The price is also lower than what we saw in other places here in Croatia.

“BEST BLACK CUTTLEFISH RISOTTO IN MY LIFE.” - Said no one ever. I felt I lost a ton of hair just by eating the black squid ink risotto. But the fried squid was the saving grace. We read the reviews before coming so I’m Not sure if this was a one time problem or they consistently use 1 metric tonne of salt for their food.

After reading a lot of positive reviews we decided to visit Fife tonight for our first dinner in Split, unfortunately on this occasion the reviews disappointed as although the dinner was okay it was nothing to rave about. When the meals arrived the fries were stone cold and unseasoned, just like the squid and meat anyway. The seasonal salad that we ordered was tiny and came dry with no seasoning or dressing on it!! The tartare sauce with the squid was ridiculously little in comparison to the amount of quid that was received. The mixed grill was looking a bit sad with barely any seasoning on. Disappointed

This place was recommended to us by a Croatian guy and it was definitely worthy. Their food portions are very generous, and their menu includes many options of local food. We were seating in the terrace which has a really nice atmosphere and view. Service and prices were really good, and they also accept credit card payments which was not so easy to find around the city. Really nice place!

  • 3/5 Viraji H. 1 year ago on Google
Reasonably priced for the amount of food but the food was nothing special. We ordered the mixed grill + fries and squid + fries. The squid was nice, but the meat was salty and not very flavourful

  • 5/5 Sofía V. 9 months ago on Google
Great place with good prices and really good food from Croatia! We had the grill sea bass and the cabbage rolls with mashed potatoes, both were really tasty! Portions are really generous. The only thing was that waitress were overwhelmed and we had to wait a little while.

  • 2/5 Hariharan R. 1 year ago on Google
Food was okay not as tasty as other restaurants in that area. What hurt our feeling more was the service, the guy who served us was taking and explaining every dish to a group of Americans but when we asked what is goulash he replied us in a really rough voice 'Goulash is goulash' as being indians we felt we were treated secondary and felt like racism. Too bad that this restaurant made us feel like that. They treat Americans with special care and us like garbage.
