This temple is part of Dioclecian's Palace - an incredibly well-preserved ancient historical site

Its beauty stands in its historical significance, so you'll have to put your imagination at work. Worth visiting and finding its story with the ticket bought from the cathedral (that also includes this temple l, underground tombs and treasury (optional)).

It was remarkable seeing the temple and mostly intact beautiful ceiling! It was very interesting seeing the sphinx outside and to learn the history behind it and the temple of Jupiter. I would definitely recommend a visit to all wanting to see Roman architecture in Split.

We bought a package that gives access to the cathedral and also Jupiter’s temple. The temple is located some 100meters from the cathedral. It’s situated in narrow streets. It’s a very small temple, so only a quick thing to see, though is has an impressive story to it, so sure a must see, as it gives knowledge about the area. It’s cheap too to visit, so do go.

You can visit this iconic place by purchasing a combo ticket which will give you access to other monuments. It is a fantastic historical place very well preserved.

The temple is small, but worth going inside. If you are interested in roman temples, you might like it. Although it has the Christian ingredients added in. Look at the baptistry and the carvings along the sides of it.

The temple of Jupiter is tiny but I really liked it. It was initially dedicated to the God Jupiter but later converted into a baptistery for St. John the Baptist.

The temple is very small and almost no information inside. Because you have to pay for entrance, it is not reccomended, because in Split there are a lot of beautiful places for free.

Interesting little former temple now the baptistry of the church. Not a huge amount to see but interesting all the same. Tickets can be bought as a combination along with the cathedral, crypt, and mueseum.

One of the beautiful Roman landmarks in Split next to the narrowest street in town called “let me pass” :)

  • 3/5 Robert C. 1 year ago on Google
It is sad to say that a two thousand year old monument that is mostly in tact can be disappointing but the fact of the matter is that it is. This is a very simple structure with one empty room. The Roman details are fairly well preserved , especially on the ceiling and the portal but there is simply not enough there to hold interest for more than 10 minutes, at best. Admission is included in the Split Cathedral pass which runs 50-80 Kuna.

Really good cannoli! The ricotta cheese was fresh, tasty and the cannoli shell is the perfect size.

At least it has an English language sign- thank you. Anyway, small but worth the drop in. Interesting history.

It was nice to see such an intact Roman temple. Not very large, but had great stone details. The entrance fee is worth it if you are a history fan, otherwise not.

The interior roof of the temple is incredible and makes it worth it to see if in the area

This is a small attraction in Split but very old and full of history. It was one of my favorite places in the town. Don’t miss the details of the building they show the age and he importance of this place. This is included in the ticket to visit the cathedral.

Roman Jupiter’s Temple. This small building is a part of Diocletian’s Palace. The place was not crowded but absolutely worth not to pass it by. The great example of ancient architecture.

Scintillating⛱️😝 Local Artwork 🎨 by Elza Bašic (in Diocletian Peristal) Get onto Walking Tour with a local..the 1700yr old Roman history is fascinating and layered.

This is a small temple that won't take long to visit. There is a bit of information about the history available which was again Croatian and English - possibly other languages too but can't remember for certain! You can buy a ticket for here alone or as part of a multi ticket for other attractions that works out cheaper if visiting the others anyway. On its own this will only need around ten minutes to visit.

  • 5/5 Pradeep P. 4 months ago on Google
The temple is in the palace grounds and access is included in the combo ticket. There is not much to see but definitely worth visiting and the fully intact ceiling is amazing to see and wonder about the architecture of our ancestors.

  • 3/5 Keith R. 7 months ago on Google
Very interesting buttttt, 3€ ? This one is a money grab. It is a statue and babtismal font in a small. Its not like the money is needed for upkeep for this. Interesting to see but buy yourself a beer for the 3€ and look at a picture of it.

  • 4/5 Melissa R. 7 months ago on Google
If you have brought the purple ticket this is included. The statue of Jupiter is impressive as is the ceiling with its little faces. The area gets too busy with walking tours... and people are disrespectful off the Sphinx which is missing its head..by leaning on it.. feels like the establishment looking after this should be more vigilant if people are to enjoy this going forward.

  • 3/5 Fab C. 6 months ago on Google
Amazing to be there, but nobody stays more than a few minutes as it is an empty room with a modern statue of Jupiter. The ceiling is superb though, too bad no magnifying mirror to look in to see it properly. Crazy to have to pay so much just to look inside though.

  • 3/5 Liz J. 8 months ago on Google
Beautiful. Not much to see as there is only a statue and tomb each side. Detail of craftsmanship was amazing

  • 4/5 Xavier Van H. 7 months ago on Google
Very small but fascinating, pay attention to the 64 panels up ahead, each with a human face looking down. This is included as part of the tickets bought in front of the cathedral.

Very beautiful narrow streets with a lovely reva walk

  • 5/5 Graham R. 8 months ago on Google
Amazing curved ceiling, wonderfully preserved and interesting to look at, with individual images from n each square. Just outside is a sphinx from nearly 2,000 years ago, sitting there for everyone to view, up close, without any barrier or protection. Hope it survives another 2,000 years for future generations to see!

  • 5/5 Peter M. 1 year ago on Google
We did a self-walking tour and found this little temple - some very interesting historical insights! The sphinx we’re messing about on is 3500 years old and was imported from Egypt for when they built the palace. We didn’t go in, so can’t tell you about inside. But right next to this is one of the narrowest and shortest alleyways (apparently in the world, but not sure if I believe that!)

  • 4/5 jamie m. 10 months ago on Google
Really beautiful temple located in the heart of the old town, and near the smallest street in Split, though keep in mind you need to pay to get in and there isn’t too much to it inside information wise which is a shame

Well worth the €3 entry fee.

I have seen the Jupiter's temple before only from the outside, and this was my first visit to its interior. Quite impressive - especially the vaulted ceiling, and Jupiter's statue. It would have been nicer if the later Christian generations did not mess with it - but thanks to them converting it into a baptistery it survived, most likely. Inside you can see the information about the temple posted on the door.

  • 4/5 Marcus H. 1 year ago on Google
The Temple of Jupiter is a small temple, reached by a narrow passageway next to the cathedral ticket office. It was converted from a pagan temple to a baptistry as the Empire morphed it's religious loyalty. The original Roman doorway remains with all it's pagan details and the ceiling is also magnificent, with human faces on each panel. There is a statue of a Croatian king inside as well as two Christian sarcophagi, one with a pentagram motif.

  • 3/5 Swati M. 1 year ago on Google
The temple is small. If you are interested in roman temples, you might like it. But not worth visiting with a ticket. And during peak season, there will be a big queue at the ticket counter.

Jupiter's Temple is Diocletian's Palace and among the oldest Roman ruins in the world. The entire town is just a spectacular city to walk through. You can sign up for tours and pay small fees to entire some of the older structures. Or, you can just walk and Google the information. After a hot morning of touring the stone city and shopping in the small local market, we ate fresh fish at a restaurant on the waterfront promenade. We picked up a good quality good chian at a jeweler along the waterfront as well.

(Translated by Google) Cute little temple with historical exhibits and an impressive ceiling. Entry is included with a purple ticket for the city's sights, which I would definitely recommend. In summer the building is very warm and stuffy, especially when you enter it with a mask. So drink enough beforehand. The temple was one of my favorite sights in the city, as you can get a well documented history. Would recommend a visit. Pretty cool experience. I highly recommend the use of a guide, since there is so much history that just by looking at the structures won't be very meaningful. The vendors outside the walls are ok, and the people are friendly for the most part. Bring cash, and be prepared to be patient with parking

  • 3/5 Steven 3 years ago on Google
Beautiful little temple with some interesting carvings and artifacts. There was also some information explaining how it came to be and the significance of the carvings. It's pretty small though and you will explore easily in 5 min. Staff who control admittance were not really interested at all. Worth seeing if you are in the area and have the ticket to cover this area.

Super small and impossible to move around if a tour group is there. Wait until they leave and head in and your experience will be much better. One small sign on the wall gives some background. Very cool statue inside. Part of the combo ticket with the cathedral and bell tower.

(Translated by Google) The stars really deserve the cathedral, as you can get joint entrance. I wanted to write a review with a score for both, it is a small temple. Something that we did not find good is having the vigilante's umbrellas inside, it offers an unfortunate image. That also does not have a great thing to do, you have a huge pile there, where people "deposit" bills and coins from their countries. Curious because there are no cameras or anything there, they sure make "clean" good when there is no staff, since VS is sitting outside and there is no sign of any camera. At the exit, going down stairs. They have a narrow street called Let me pass, a curious alley that is difficult for two people to cross. I leave a photo of all this and for you to know price € 1.50 and joint entry € 3.50. Of the three visits, the Cathedral is the one worth seeing.

A temple dedicated to Jupiter back in the Roman period. The temple is not that big, but the architecture with a sphinx outside and the ceiling inside makes in interesting. Do look up! You'll need to pay enter this place, which gives you entrance to the St Domnius Cathedral too.
