Nice hostel overall. But without Google Maps I would have never found it. It's at the end of a narrow passage, the best way to find it is to look for the house number. Furthermore one of the bathrooms is quite narrow and my bed was shaking when I or the person in the bed beneath me was moving. The staff and the owner were nice and very helpful (even they drink and chat with their guests in the kitchen). In the end the hostel is a good choice when you're looking for clean, simple and quite cheap accommodation.

I don't really think I have much good to say about this hostel, except that the woman I saw on my last morning was nice and it's got a good location. The beds are really uncomfortable, I could feel the metal wires above the coils. The garbage in my room was overflowing. The kitchen was filthy. The floors and counters looked as if they hadn't been cleaned in weeks, and there were bottles everywhere that needed to go out for recycling. There was rotting food in the fridge. The bathroom was clean but often ran out of tp, and there are only two, one for girls, one for guys. No separate toilets, so if someone is in the shower you're out of luck. The staff was unhelpful, and reception opened late and closed early every day so they often weren't even available. When I asked for a towel one guy said to wait 10 minutes while he finished watching a you tube clip. The door to the room was super squeaky so it woke everyone up if it was opened at night. When I asked one of the staff if they could fix it he said, "yeah, I know. We really should get something to fix that." The woman I saw the next morning said "Oh! I didn't know, thanks for telling me, I have some grease I can spray on the hinges." At least she was nice, but I only saw her once. I would not stay here again.

Is a cosy place, and started out really well with people from the hostel making fajitas for us and offering beer. But the entire experience was ruined by a bunch of strange backpackers going in and out of the room all night, switching on the light, talking loudly discussing who's borrowing whose weed, etc. One of them urinated out of the window in the middle of old town cause of being too drunk and lazy to go 2 meters to a toilet. I didn't feel comfortable at all. While strictly speaking not being the fault of the hostel management, at no point did anyone of them try to even ask for silence somehow.

THE place to stay in Split! Cheap, super friendly, extremely accomodating and beautiful views across the city. It has an incredible location and there is air con! Even though we only discovered it after our first sweaty night... Towels and bedding is all provided, and coffee and tea on deck. There's a microwave and a hob and a fridge and staff that were at our beck and call. Shower bangs also :)

This hostel is immense! The location is ideal, amenities are great, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. We instantly felt like we were at home coming here and will absolutely be back next time we visit Split. Thank you Old Town Hostel!

The hostel was OK, excellent location. Don't trust their recommendations of places to eat and don't go on the dinner they organise. All the restaurants they took us to were empty except by people taken by hostels. The two I went to had bland menus with the kind of food you can find anywhere on the world. The one where I eat gave me overcooked and salted pasta for ten Euros, which is more than I pay in Italy. A glass of wine was six Euros, a cocktail was ten. Obvious tourist trap in the Riva. They must get paid to take groups there.

The location can't be beat, it's clean, the showers have high water pressure and the cozy kitchen makes it easy to meet people. Dora and her team are helpful and friendly as well which is handy. I give this hostel a 5 because their description is bang on - it's a no frills hostel and in my opinion, for the solo traveler, one of the best spots to stay while in Split. Plus, they have an awesome kitten there!

It was nice for a couple of nights. Had to shift rooms because a guest had two med/large dogs (smelly) sharing the room as well. I knew the hostel conditions of staying with house cats/animals etc and it adds to the homely feel of a hostel but not sleeping with outside animals in the same room of 8 bunk beds right next to me. Anyway, I was told if I don't like it I can leave. I shifted to another available room. Life goes on, it was an experience šŸ¤£

They canceled my booking one day before my arrival. Had that booking in my booking account for more than half a year. They said the price had an error. Surprisingly that happened when the pandemic restrictions were over.

A bit of a climb with the stairs, but a great social hostel.

In February 2023, I booked 3 nights at the Old Town Hostel Split for a stay May 27-30. In March, I reached out to the hostel and asked to add a fourth night, May 26. I was reassured multiple times via email that my reservation was in their books, I did not need to rebook via HostelWorld, and that all I needed to do on the 26 was show up and pay for my additional night. On the 26, I arrived and was told that my reservation was not in the books, and that I only had the 27-30 booked. Apparently one receptionist had put it in the books, and another had crossed it out, assuming it was a mistake, without any communication with the other staff. There were no beds available in the hostel, so they sent me to the only bed available at their other location at Outlandersā€™ Tribe Hostel. If there had not been any beds left, Iā€™m not sure what Old Town wouldā€™ve done, and I couldā€™ve been left without a place to stay the night. The Outlanders hostel itself was nice enough, but was 15 minutes outside the old town, and I had to walk alone after dark with my luggage as a young solo female traveler, which made me feel very uncomfortable. In addition, I had booked an all-female room in the Old Town Hostel and was placed in a room with males in the Outlanders Tribe Hostel - which again, was very uncomfortable for a young solo female traveler. The morning of the 27, I dragged my luggage across the city again to Old Town Hostel. Itā€™s not the biggest deal in the world, but it was annoying and inconvenient to drag my luggage across the city for a total of 30 minutes, especially when my itinerary was packed. I ended up missing my dinner reservation on the 26 and getting a later start on the 27 than I wanted. They gave me a 10ā‚¬ discount at Outlanders Tribe, but that does not feel like enough to compensate for the inconvenience and for feeling so unsafe in a new city. Once I was actually in the Old Town Hostel, I had an okay experience. There were no common spaces except for a tiny kitchen that was always crowded, and one of the two bathrooms was closed off for cleaning (it was moldy), so the entire hostel was sharing one single bathroom. Due to another miscommunication among the staff, one worker thought I was no longer in the hostel, and took the food I was storing in the kitchen and relabeled it with their name. Luckily I noticed before anyone ate anythingā€¦ but that is absolutely ridiculous to me. Overall, the staff obviously does not communicate with each other, which leads to a variety of misunderstandings that risk their guestsā€™ feelings of safety and are simply annoying and inconvenient. The hostel is small and not the cleanest. They have signs all over their walls asking you to make any changes to your booking via email instead of hostel world and help support small businesses (since hostelworld takes a fee from them)ā€¦ but when I did exactly that, I was almost left without a place to stay. I would absolutely not recommend this hostel - it is definitely the worst hostel Iā€™ve ever stayed at (Iā€™ve stayed at 22 hostels in 7 different countries now), and the only hostel Iā€™d actually classify as ā€œbad.ā€ Stay away!! There are many better options in Split for the same price.

We unfortunately lost luggage here for around 100euro, due to some misunderstanding. Otherwise the location is great, and room was also good. I wish they had a smaller lamp also.. They have a sweet cat. šŸ±

Lovely hostel with exceptionally sweet staff. An adorable cat is roaming around the rooms that you can pet. The hostel is super clean and snug, and the view from the windows is honestly breathtaking. The location is great. When you walk in, the Gibly music soundtrack welcomes you and is playing in the background throughout the day.

A great value hostel at the very heart of the old town. Rooms are good, people are nice, service is amazing and it all fits in a budget. All the places you might be visiting in Split are just a few minutes walk from the hostel. So try it out and I hope you'll love it.

Hostel staff was friendly and helpful, and everything (especially the bathrooms) was squeaky clean. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, if I come back to Split

Had a great experience here! The location is perfect for exploring old town Split and itā€™s super close to nightlife, the bus/train station, and harbor. Itā€™s a small hostel but I met lots of great people and we cooked dinner and went out together in the evenings. Also, the hostelā€™s kitty is so cute and entertaining! :) Rooms and bathrooms were small and nothing fancy but were comfortable. Hostel staff was friendly and helpful!

Excellent location, affordable for budget travelers, comfortable bed in a very small dorm (8 beds) that will get very tight with only five people around, ac in the room that will keep it warm (low season/January visit). Two spacious toilets, that needed some good cleaning. Kitchen with utensils to cook meals. Book exchange. Cute cat lives at the hostel. It would be good if each bed has its own small light to avoid other travelers turning the light late in the night.
