Planet Fitness isn't for me. When signing up for a membership, the staff member facilitating the process was very little help. My questions were answered with clearly rehearsed, pat responses that ultimately did nothing to clarify the issue at hand. For example, "Why do you say you need both my debit card AND a credit card on file?". The response was suggesting that in having both, somehow my finances were less susceptible to fraudulent intrusion... an idea that seemed (and continues to seem) counterintuitive almost to the point of absurdity. They obviously want both on file so in case one form of payment fails, they can use the other to guarantee that their monthly fees (and other costs) are collected. I wouldn't call the practice unethical in itself, but refusing to answer the question truthfully painted the entire process with the color of potential dishonesty and put me in a defensive state of mind. The gym seemed overcrowded not with exercise enthusiasts, but with rows of workout machines. I personally enjoy using a variety of equipment, however when confronted with more options than a Phoenix flea market (they have an uncountable number of useless, worthless and even confusing items that not even the most frivolous and wealthiest connoisseur would ever consider purchasing - the comparison is appropriate), I tend to feel a little bit claustrophobic and the natural urge to escape kicks in... negating the whole point of going to the gym in the first place. This negative aspect may have been lessened with the right guide to show me around the place and introduce me to some of the more novel pieces of equipment, but no offer was ever put forward. I decided not to complete the enrollment process and found a gym more suited to my own goals elsewhere.

First visit was pretty great. Plenty of equipment available, even during peak hours. They have everything you need for exercising, aside from a pool. It's clean, & they keep the lights down to a medium glow. There were probably a hundred or more people there & it wasn't all that loud. I was impressed & look forward to my next visit. Update: Still exercising here & still happy with my choice :)

90% of the people here are NOT wearing masks and none of the staff enforce the mandate, nor the dress policy. There is always a man or two in jeans and some ladies will just go in their sports bras. The staff often go without masks as well. It does not feel like a safe environment.

Hot water doesn't work in any of the shower stalls. You get what you pay for I guess. Update: After a few months of going to this gym I've noticed none of the machines get fixed, which is frustrating since if you want to work out those muscle groups. There are also a handful of machines that arnt out of commission, but need fixed.

Back in January 2021: I have been a member at Planet Fitness for about 1 year. At the start of the Covid-19 Pandemic, face mask mandate, I received a medical exemption from wearing a face covering when I discovered I had difficulty breathing and developed migraines even from minimal use. Planet Fitness was at first accepting of this, until after reopening from the second shutdown of Washington State. They told me that they now have no medical acceptions and I will have to wear a face mask even while exercising. On top of this ridiculous request, I was talked down to and treated rudely after explaining how this was physically impossible for me. I warned them that I could not be denied service based on a medical reason and especially when I am actively paying for membership to enter. I was still denied and told it was company policy based on the Washington mandate. I later of course found that medical exemptions do need to be accepted and I even contacted a lawyer about this. I later decided not to pursue legal action. I do not know the owners intentions and understand at this time everyone is just trying to stay in business. I have other things to do and better gyms that I can be a part of and so that is the route I have gone. Wish I could remember the name of the blond lady associate. She has been especially rude to me and my wife numerous times and I can see she’s been mentioned by others here. Get off your high horse lady, you don’t rule over anybody.

This place does not include all the perks of the black card membership. They do not have any of these select drinks at 50% off it’s very sad. The crew here is great, but the owner is about false advertisement and not holding all of the standards. I will be switching gyms or switching memberships as I do not like supporting businesses with false advertisement. Please take this sign down thanks

Good place for beginners.

I tried cancelling with this gym, at first I called. They do not have a way to cancel over the phone or online. I made a special trip down there just cancel. Or so I thought, i got through the cancellation process just fine I left with a piece of paper that said I cancelled. This was July 28th I didn't notice that I was still getting charged until January. I went in to fix it. They had no record of me cancelling. They had the last sign in date, July 28th. I no longer had the cancellation paperwork. They offered me 3 months reimbursement and said it was my responsibility to cancel. I then told them that it was their responsibility to actually cancel it when I asked them to. So they lied to me about cancelling it. In this time I thought I couldn't use the gym equipment. And they won't refund all of the money they wrongfully charged me. They said it was my fault for not noticing the charges on my account.

I go to the gym late evenings. Tonight, Tracy and Jackie were working and made my visit so welcoming. These beautiful, young ladies did it for me. I've been to other locations and I about cancelled my membership. Train your employees by these ladies example.

Great place to workout. My only complaint is that people NOT doing the 30 minute circuit get in the way when I'm trying to do it. They come in and just do one or two weight machines, I don't understand why they can't use the ones out on the floor.

If I could give less I would, worked out here for months until I unfortunately couldn't afford it anymore and had to cancel and got charged even though I wasn't going to use it again. Signed up again and got told my work body aka my brother of 14 could not come with me anymore even tho he had been working out with me for months with no issues and nothing said about it, then when I went to cancel my membership got charged for membership I hadn't even used once and had money I didn't have taken from me. Never going here again.

Giving this a 2. Love the place love the equipment. However I don't like the fact that you can only make your payment through a "local" bank. I made a payment with a preloaded card while I tried to get a bank account together and they refused it. Which in turn gave me a late fee. I think it's wrong when any company refuses any type of payment. As long as it's being paid that should be what matters!

THROUGH THIS PANDEMIC THEY DIDNT CALL EMAIL OR ANYTHING TO LET ME KNOW THEY CLOSED. THEY CHARGED ME $30 FOR A MONTH BUT I CANT GET A HOLD OF ANYONR AMD RHEY WERE CLOSWD AND NOW THEY CHARGED ME $40 AND THEY ARE STILL NOT OPEN!!! THIS IS SO FLUSTERING. They didnt even reach out to me!!!

I chose PF because it is the most affordable gym membership in the Spokane area. They have greatly surpassed my expectations. The staff is very friendly, it is clean and equipment is always in excellent working condition. I am very pleased.

Dropped keys in stair master they refused to help me get them out and told me I’d potentially have to wait days or weeks. Can’t get into my house or my car. They had 3-4 people standing at the counter literally on their phones no one wanted to call maintenance or management and tell them it wasn’t a broken machine and it was actually IMPORTANT!

Love the staff and the business. The gym is clean. You can find out how to use different equipment through the app just by using a QR code. You can do cardio for any amount of time you want, as well as weight lifting or you can do 30 minute workouts with different weight lifting equipment. Very reasonable for a membership!

Good place to exercise , we go there 4 times a week, it's very clean ,and very cheap monthly fee..

It took me 4 days of calling till I finally got an associate on the phone. I asked if I could reserve lanes for a birthday and I was told they didn't take reservations. We went anyway. When we got there and asked for lanes for a party of 15, the staff asked why I didn't call ahead and reserve lanes! We never seen a server the entire time we bowled and we ordered pizza that sat at the counter till it was cold because they never call over the speakers that it was done. I'm greatly disappointed in their service. We also had multiple times were the pins wouldn't rest or they balls would not return. It's sad that this place has gone so down hill. We used to love going here.

Why can this Planet Fitness not allow members to cancel online or over the phone! I have gone in and canceled only to continue to be charged! I call to get it straightened out and am told I still have to go back in to cancel AGAIN! This place is so outdated! I am switching to Spokane Fitness.

This is the first gym I've ever been too. It's nice, quiet and clean, the employees are helpful and friendly (except one just twists her hair all day with her finger, it's distracting and bizarre). Anyway, the equipment is good quality, a lot of choices and variety; it does get busy sometimes. I love the no judgement zone, I can concentrate on working out with no worries.

Beautifully modern facility with equipment that's in tip-top shape. The layout of this location is wonderful, offering all sorts of space for each area - including separate rooms for the stretching and abs sections. The locker rooms are well-maintained and the staff are both kind and knowledgeable.

My experience for the past 6 months since regularly coming to the gym has been life changing. I have lost over 30 pounds and gained confidence. The whole staff has been very welcoming and encouraging. I would like to acknowledge Bianca for showing me how to use the machines when i had anxiety trying them on my own and always having a great energy to be around.

My wife and I have been coming here for years, and in the past I would have given it five stars, but unfortunately it has really gone down hill in the last year. There is an awful lot of broken equipment. We like to use the bikes, but about 50 percent of them now have out of order signs on them. Customers are allowed to sit on the limted amount of machines that work, and talk on their phones. Customers are not encouraged to wipe down their machines after use, and many don't. Customers in the 30 minute circuit room will work out on machines for long periods of time totally disregarding the 1 minute limit per machine. The staff seems uninterested in enforcing the posted gym rules.

Clean gym, showers were very nice except for the fact that there was very little hot water. In the beginning it was almost warm enough to be comfortable, but after no more than 2 minutes it was ice cold. No one else was showering with me in the mens. Apparently the women’s showers were warm until another woman tried to shower

Clean facility and friendly staff. A few pieces of equipment are not in service (the standing kickback and lying hamstring curl that I saw) but they are working to get them repaired and have replaced pads on several machines.

no one cleans off or wipes down their equipment at all. The amount of men I saw leaving a machine DRENCHED in sweat was absolutely disgusting. Especially when they were right next to a sign that says to wipe off the machines you use. I get that we aren’t super heavy with the pandemic but that’s so disgusting when someone just sweats and leaves.

The membership is very affordable, black membership perks are really great. The only thing that keeps me from giving this a perfect 5 stars is that they don't have free weight squat racks, they are all on guided rails. Overall however, this is absolutely the place I choose to hold a membership over anywhere else.

Great place to get a quick workout in. Late nights and early mornings aren’t as busy as expected so that’s a plus. Equipment is decently maintained. Hydro massages are the my favorite benefit of the club.

Just signed up. Love it so far. 24 hours so I can go when I have time. Plenty of equipment, stretching area, massage chairs, hydromassage, tanning beds and more. This place is very clean and the equipment is in good shape.

I came in to planet fitness on five 2423 to access my account and go tanning. They can’t find a way to get me to the barcode it won’t. I won’t let me get in on the app so I’ve been paying for my services but I can’t receive any services Mr. Ethan a guy Ethan. His here is trying to help me but he said he can’t help me too bad and to call Amanda and come back another day and that I can’t use my services because I can’t figure out the computer so I can’t go tanning today. I would like someone to reach out to me about my services and how I can access them since I’m a paying customer

I go in quite often for my lunch to go tanning. I left my tanning goggles in my other purse and was told I can’t tan unless I have them. Let’s remind you nobody uses tanning goggles because it creates white circles around your eyes. I had to drive back across town back to my work and wasted my lunch. This has happened before where I forgot my tanning goggles and I was able to still tan. The girl that I had that refused me was also very rude when I walked in and had been not very welcoming several times that I have been in there. No one wants to come into a gym where it’s negative as soon as you walk in.

This isn't a dig at planet fitness the company, but this particular location. Although they have newer treadmills, they do not do anything to maintain their equipment. One of their squat racks have been out of service for two months now. The pads for the racks have been unusable for longer than that. The equipment on the racks in the stretching area all need to be reevaluated as the bosu ball is flattening and the ab wheel falls apart. Just keep on maintaining your equipment because thats the most important part of a gym, usable gym equipment.

A great place to work out. State of art equipment and they always keep everything clean. They even have tanning beds! Their tanning beds are actually good for your skin, something I'd never heard of before but their great. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and their prices are fair. If your looking for a new gym give planet fitness a try.

The facility itself is clean, and some of the staff are friendly. My primary reason for the rating is 2 things. Most importantly, a lot of the equipment needs work and they don’t seem to want to fix it. It’s not uncommon for a machine to be down for weeks at a time. Recently I went in and a machine failed on me mid lift. I reported it to the front desk and before the kid could put a sign on the machine, someone who I assume was the manager came and told him there was nothing wrong with the machine, don’t put the sign up. It failed on me mid lift… it’s broken… Fix your equipment before someone gets hurt. Immediately cancelled our memberships. Must be common, because nobody even bothered to ask why. I’ll go somewhere that invests in their equipment and values the safety of their patrons.

I've had a membership here for about a year and I've enjoyed my time. They have a wide array of machines but not a much in free weights. The atmosphere is comfortable, pretty relaxed, and I like they are always open. Only suggestion I have is, repair equipment that has broken with a little more haste. The chest/delt fly machine was down for a couple months before it was finally repaired.

Very friendly and helpful people working here. They are patient with me and don't even know I have mental disabilities. They just patiently answer my questions and help me feel calm.

Don’t forget your checking account information because they won’t give you a membership without having one.

Glad its back open but it has it's crowded moments. Only advice is get in early to beat the others

UPDATE: After this review was posted, Planet Fitness finally responded and refunded the charges. I updated the review to 3 stars to reflect that they did solve the issue, but I did not give 5 stars because it took months of hassle to get there. I hate to leave a bad review for such a specific issue, but it's an important one. They have continued to charge me despite nearly a year of trying to cancel. My first cancellation didn't work, and I noticed months later...then COVID hit. I called repeatedly for months, with no responses to my voicemails. The club opened back up in August, still without any form of contact, and began charging my account again without permission. Whenever I go in, there is no manager present, and no one else is "authorized" to assist me. Planet Fitness: If you aren't going to return calls, you need to post an email. Customers need to be able to resolve disputes! And if you are closed without any form of contact for months, you need to reach out before resuming membership fees...I didn't even know you were open! I'm now going through the fraud/dispute process with my bank because I literally cannot reach your management. It may not be intentional, but it is unacceptable. *Note: The facilities are clean, friendly, and maintained. If not for this fraud issue, I would have no complaints...minus 3 stars for bad business practices.

It wasn't very clean when we were there. I picked up 3 different pieces of trash. I was NOT asked if I wanted to join. I went in with my friend with a black card membership and she was told that her guest could not use the massage chairs. I have been considering a membership for a while, now I am reconsidering.

This truly is a no judgement zone. My husband and I have had memberships to other gyms and stopped going after a short while. The people make all the difference. We truly enjoy the 30 minute circuit because of the other "regulars" that we have become friends with. This is a great place to let go of your fears and do what you need to do for yourself.

I joined in January of 2018. The price is wonderful, most of the staff are friendly. I love that I can work out, tan and use the massage chairs for under $25 per month. The only dislike I have is that I had an issue cancelling an online payment that was posted for a future date. The manager advised they have no phone number to call to correct and no one in the gym has access. So you are out of luck with any billing assistance just be warned ahead of time.

Gym is laid out well, but most of the equipment is pretty outdated, especially compared to the other planet fitnesses I've been to in the area. Nice place to work out.

Basic equipment, basic facility. Nothing special, " hints" why the pricing is so low. And BEWARE.. you can only cancel your membership at THAT gym you opened one up at. Can't even do it .... if you've transferred your home branch to a new one... you still have to go to that original branch. Horrible policy! For that alone I cancelled my membership🤷‍♀️

Employees are great, gym is open. Lets get healthy again.

My favorite place

No pool, no courts, free weights are limited. Lots of cardio and weight machines though, and only 10$/month. Worth the price of admission for sure but it isn't super amazing.

I've always had a good experience with Planet Fitness in other areas. They are always very clean, super cheap and open 24/7. This one is no exception, however the customer service is lacking. They aren't nearly as friendly at this location. That being said, it is still a great starter gym if you don't need a lot of free-weight options.

Great place. Little bit more room would be nice but the 30 minute express workout is a great way to start building for a new start. They are affordable and friendly. Only down is that I would like to bring my son and can't because he is under age.
