Amazing building! As soon as you walk through the doors your transported to another time when a hotel was a destination rather than a place to lay your head. The architecture is stunning with fine details in the woodwork that really create a remarkable experience. The valets and general staff are courteous and friendly, and truly make you feel welcome. However, there are a couple of things that stopped me from giving a five star review. First, and foremost, the pillows in our room were absolutely terrible, "flat" would be an understatement at least. This is not normally an issue as everywhere else we've stayed you simply ask the front desk and more pillows are brought to your room. In this case, we asked the front desk attendant if they could send more pillows, and fill the soap dispensers in the shower (which were empty upon arrival), and we were told that housekeeping was done in our area, and they had a "full house" that evening so he would "try" and see what he could do. His attitude was abhorrent, and incidentally we never did get those small requests fulfilled. Poor customer service such as that weighs heavy on my decision to stay again, and that experience left an impression I will not forget. The only other poor experience I will mention is the in house dining (room service). While the food was good, it was cold as if it had been sitting for some time. Normally I wouldn't mention something like that, however we paid well over $140 for the three meals we ordered and they were all cold upon arrival. Should these things dissuade you from staying, possibly, but the experience as a whole might be worth it as long as you don't expect anything extra from the front desk, and eat somewhere off site.

If you read any reviews of poor service, quality of stay, or others - I honestly cannot understand why; this place is the best. Moreover, the service and people here are premier. I wish I could hire the quality of service you find here: Shyesta, Alyssa B., and Jacob are outstanding (plus others!). I feel safe, comfortable, and restful whenever I have the privilege of visiting - and have stated over thirty times. Nothing changes but rather it remains a top-notch Hotel in Spokane and anywhere in the world. Thank you Historic Davenport for making things just that special. As Mr. Davenport wished, I always look forward to coming back. Rest here and find out!

This Hotel is so great, the details are intricate throughout. The rooms are excellent, service on all levels beyond 5 star. You'll love the experience with so much to do within walking distance. If you come during the Holiday's it is extra special. We grabbed a bite in the Peacock Lounge which also is a well done business and unique atmosphere.

We have been staying at the Davenport for 10 years and it used to be one of our favorites. We would tell friends and strangers alike about how great it was but no more. The building is beautiful and historic and the location couldn’t be better. Unfortunately, the last two times we stayed were fraught with cleanliness and service issues. The first time, a filthy and smelly wash cloth was draped over the shower head. We thought this was an anomaly but the second time we stayed, there were blood splatters (not stains—actual dried blood) over the sheets on the pull out bed that my 7 year old daughter was going to sleep in. It is just luck that we saw it before she crawled into bed. Both times, we immediately called down to the front desk and they eventually sent someone up to address the situation. After our last visit (blood splattered sheets) I asked for some level of compensation. Was ignored. It’s such a pity, this used to be our monthly stop on the way to Montana but things just aren’t kept clean anymore. Management apparently doesn’t care about customer experience. It’s pretty inexcusable when they charge what they do for a room. Will book elsewhere in the future.

The Historic Davenport is the best hotel property in Spokane. It's on the list of American Historic Sites and when you enter the main lobby, you'll see why. Absolutely stunning. The renovated rooms are spacious and well appointed with very comfortable beds (they even allow you to buy one of their custom made beds and get a discount equal to what you paid for the room!). The service was stellar, befitting of a historic hotel. My wife and I were celebrating our 20th anniversary and we were gifted with a box of their signature soft peanut brittle (to die for) and a bottle of Wycliffe Brut champagne (thanks Logan and Marshall!). Our 11th floor room had a beautiful view of downtown, and the Peacock Lounge served some stellar cocktails. A little pricey, but the ambiance and the drinks helped soften the blow. All in all one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had, and that's saying a lot for people who have stayed in nice properties all over the world. Well done, Davenport! We'll definitely be back!

Nice place, feel like you're staying on the Titanic. Very expensive though. Vallay parking is very pricey, restaurants and peacock lounges are nice but also very expensive. Plan on spending 💰. But, it's really nice to be in the downtown area and able to walk and take the bus everywhere. The south side is quite noisy due to trains constantly passing by by the hour. Sleeping was a challenge if you're not used to it. Swimming pool and the hot tub could definitely use some updates for the amount of money the hotel pulls in daily. Which I'm sure is astronomical 💰! All and all, it was a nice stay for our anniversary.

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon present from her mom. The stay was nice and we enjoyed every second of it. Only complaint I have is staying on the south side of the hotel, where you can hear the trains quite a bit, which might interrupt a great night's sleep.

It's one of the most beautiful hotels I've ever been to. The rooms are beautiful, and the beds are so comfortable and clean. It's in a very convenient location where you can walk around the downtown, everything is close. The food in the Palm restaurant is delicious and also the Peacock bar gives you a very relaxing night to have some drink and nice ambience. The Pool and the jacuzzi are on point. Can't wait to come back. 🙏🏻

I have had the pleasure of staying at the Historic Davenport Hotel twice for meetings. The hotel was built in 1914 and has been restored and well looked after. The grand lobby is as majestic and stately as the best European hotels of its time. In fact, every room, and even the conference rooms, are resplendent. Both times I was thoroughly impressed by the level of service and attention to detail shown by the staff. The staff here have a great deal of pride in this hotel and that shines through in everything they do. One staff member even took the time to walk me around the hotel to show me little pieces of historical curiosities. They made me feel like visiting royalty. I highly recommend this hotel if staying in Spokane.

Read this before you book your wedding!! Sales was great, but everything after that seemed pretty disorganized. They charge a 22% service fee and originally said that included gratuity, then said it didn't. We found out that they pay a higher wage instead of gratuity for weddings, but you can tip extra if you want. You have to prepay for what you expect people to drink, you set a limit for the open bar....our arrangement was they were supposed to come check in with me if we went over a certain amount. The bartender was telling people our prepayment amount the limit and even charged a guest, but luckily it ended up in our room charged not our guests. It was super embarrassing! Not sure how to fix that problem but maybe talk to the staff on that day of your wedding and remind them of your plan? Our family helped with clean up and some stuff was left behind. It's been a nightmare getting our items back. They don't just call you and say we have a box of things that was left at your wedding. You have to reach out to the hotel and describe each item. They probably still have a bunch of our stuff that we don't even know of missing yet... we've made multiple requests for our stuff. Some of our missing things were in a box together, we got some of the things in that box back and some of it is still missing. So double and triple check the area before you go! Also, take an inventory of your things so if something goes missing you can tell them what it is. Hopefully it's not a wedding gift! One of our cards is still missing! The service was hit and miss. The bellmen and one lady at the front desk were amazing, most of the other staff seemed to be inconvenienced by us! All that being said, we would still book the Davenport again....Our wedding was beautiful! The hotel was very clean! It was really convenient having so many of our guests staying at there!

Beautiful hotel. The lounge is great. Parking is nearby and convenient. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The service leaves something to be desired. My room had 2 conditioners instead of a shampoo and conditioner. That is an understandable mistake. I called and asked for a shampoo to be dropped off to the room. I found another conditioner when I got back. It was too late in the night to do anything about it so I just left it alone. I also asked for a shower cap that never arrived and a toothpaste that only reached me after my second attempt. None of all this was bad enough to ruin my experience. But I did feel disappointed with the service.

I absolutely LOVE everything about this hotel. With specific emphasis on the restaurant. This place is so full of character and charm throughout. I haven't had an opportunity to book a room here (yet) but dined in their restaurant and looked around at some of the ballrooms etc. It's absolutely breathtaking and service is top notch at the restaurant. Thank you for a great experience!

Love this place. The decor and historical atmosphere is so beautiful. I love the history that lines the walls of the second floor. Great location downtown and just a couple blocks from the river. This is my favorite place to stay in Spokane.

I recently had my wedding ceremony at the Historic Davenport Hotel in the Isabella Room and I cannot express how stunning the venue is. From the architecture to the decor, the Davenport provided the perfect backdrop for our special day. We stayed at the Davenport both the day before and the day of our wedding. The hotel staff was a dream come true - they were fantastic to work with for both the wedding and the stay. They provided a large getting ready space that made the morning of the wedding a breeze. Our original contact was Missy, but then Kim took over, and both were great to work with. Communication was decent, though we couldn't do a lot of finalizing details until right before the wedding, which was a little stressful. But in the end it was perfect. Overall, I would highly recommend the Historic Davenport Hotel to anyone looking for a memorable and beautiful wedding venue.

Feels like going back in time 100 years. Stayed two nights and attended a wedding in the Marie Antoinette Ballroom. Beds, no lies, SUPER comfy. I'd pay for the stay just to sleep in the bed again. Loved the live jazz band in the lobby on Friday night, great selection of wine available there as well. Even though the weekend was full of different groups and events at the hotel, the building seemed to have plenty of small areas that felt secluded. Great atmosphere.

My team and I recently traveled to Spokane for business, and our stay at the Historic Davenport was wonderful. The cleanliness, service, food and drinks -- everything was on point, making it a very nice experience. Allyssa Smith was especially professional and helpful, and we look forward to visiting again in the future.

We have stayed at the Davenport many many times and have never been disappointed!! Both the Historic and the Tower are just incredible. Great value for the money and both hotels have great amenities!! Highly recommend the Sunday brunch on the Historic side! This is the only hotel we will stay at when in town.

We had a great stay at the Davenport. The rooms are clean. The staff is super helpful . After my online reservation had gotten canceled. They still found a room for me. Check in was quick. The friend desk was super friendly. We enjoyed the stay.

This place is amazing. Each and every employee made us feel like we were the only guests. We had dinner in the peacock lounge last night and our server gabriel was absolutely one of the best wait staff we have ever had. The food at both resturants and the safari grill have been wonderful. Can't wait to return.

The hotel is great at Christmas. We had a private dinner for 18 on-site, a few rooms, and then lunch the next day. Everyone is nice, but they were severely short staffed, and it had a big impact on the experience at all levels. The food at the private dinner was very good. The lunch was subpar. We also stayed at the Grand and have had a much better experience over the same period. I would avoid the historic hotel until they can sort the staffing issues if you want the level of service to match the environment and price.

It’s a beautiful building but not having a microwave or fridge was a bummer. It was surprisingly loud too. Could hear people in the hallways going to their rooms trying to sleep. We like the room cooler at night for sleeping so we cranked the ac hoping for it to be cool getting back from the wedding we attended away from the hotel. It was still warm hours later. I love the Davenport and the historic design but I’ll probably just stay at the tower next time and come visit to look at things. Otherwise the service was wonderful and the bed comfy

If I could do a 4.5 star that would be the true rating I would give this hotel. The hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous. Rich with history, and ornate inside and out. The room was wonderful, the ambiance was wonderful, the staff was incredible and there was really only one downside. The pool and hot tub. While the pool was indeed beautiful, the pool and hot tub themselves are very old and are crumbling. The seats on the hot tub are very rough and they break away but by bit when sitting down or moving around. The pool bottom was also very rough. I'm not sure how much of this is age, but the pool room/hot tub was a little underwhelming in comparison to the pictures. Overall, was wonderful and would definitely recommend!

This is an edited review after speaking to a manager at the hotel. I had left valuable medical equipment and medication in the room and it was handled horribly from the security department. The hotel staff themselves were wonderful. The hotel is beautiful and the location is great. I hope security measures are changed. I strongly recommend not forgetting anything in your room.

This is my favorite boutique hotel in Spokane. The rooms are spacious, and the service is top-notch. My breakfast in the Palm Court was delightful. Helpful hint-- pay the extra $10 for valet parking - it's worth it.

This historic property is very impressive and our room was nicely appointed and very comfortable. The bed was especially comfortable. The staff was great and the hotel was beautiful throughout. I only have three areas of improvement to suggest. More comfortable seating in the room; softer toilet paper; and something other than just Starbucks coffee.

Please recognize Mary Murphy for her wonderful customer service and our personal thanks. We were initially charged over $900 for a room. Mary took care of us and brought it down to $546!! My Uncle Dale & Aunt Barbara went there all the time to celebrate special events. This is where we chose to celebrate their live & have our family reunion. Your hotel has been, and is, a family favorite, it is the best! And Mary Murphy is a wonderful ambassador for your staff. Thank you.

My phone was lost within 20 feet of checking desk. As my buddy and I pulled away I noticed my phone was gone. He immediately started calling the phone, it rang twice - on the third call straight to voicemail, somebody clearly picked it up and turned it off. Stolen. When paying $200 a night you expect security at the very least. We contacted security of the hotel they did not act in any way. Only 72 hours after the fact did someone from security contact us. He had no helpful information. I had to badger them every day, left a message for the female general manager, never heard from that loser either. This is a building that must go! You take up space and serve no one! And steal toothbrushes and don’t deliver good cable, steal from high tipping/ paying customers! Meet you at the fireplace means hold your pocket book close, don’t trust these vultures, they feed off the elderly and their hospitality hides their ignorance and lack of superior customer service. They won’t remember you, they don’t care to remember your face, if you are part of a large party expect things to be stolen. There is simply not enough staff to care about you. And too small a welcome tunnel. We usually receive better service at these prices. That’s my experience.

I have lived on the road for almost 12 years, and have stayed at hotels all over Asia and the Americas. This hotel is pure class. That bed. Those crisp linens. That bathtub. Those views. The serenity. And they honored my late checkout request without hesitation. Stellar, my friends. Love the tree in the lobby, too. Merry Christmas! 🎄

The price of the room was changed on us during the check-in. With reservations booked directly thru the hotel, I expected the best pricing. What I found was the pricing was too good and I was quietly handed a new invoice to sign without any mention of the change in pricing. I ended up speaking with the manager and having to renegotiate my invoice. Not happy, I really wish I had just asked to be refunded if they wouldn't honor the reservation. They've treated me better in the past, but I think things have changed for the worse. I still recommend the hotel for the great dining, but you can do better for overnight accommodations at the price point. Sorry Davenport, you're losing future business with poor customer service.

Attended a dinner with the worst food and service. The was like cutting leather and tasted just as bad. There was plate for bread and butter. I them on saucer and asked waitress for a plate, she said "you another plate and pointed to saucer" I said "yes ". I got a plate later. Then when another guess at our table when to use salt shaker it was empty along with pepper. After attitude before, no one asked for salt and pepper. Will not be going back to the Davenport Hotel again. Another reason to stay away from downtown Spokane.

The historic aspect of the hotel is lovey. The Valet was so helpful and respectful but that all changes when we came inside. I was waiting to check in the gentleman that check us in seemed annoyed and I stood there for a few minutes for him to even acknowledge me then all he did was complain about the keys. I was under the impression when I put the package for the breakfast it would save me money but they charged me $60 for 2 breakfast package. And when I booked it I thought it was $30. When we got breakfast it was only $30 for the two of us. They receipts don’t break down the room and breakfast package so I couldn’t tell exactly what the breakfast cost was but my friend stayed the same night paid $214 and I paid $301. She had her valet refunded because her room was covered in dog hair. On top of all that when I arrived we put out luggage on a cart a bellmen was supposed to follow us up but instead he walked away with our stuff. I had to call to ask where it was and wait in the room until he got while my fiancé waited downstairs because he didn’t have his key yet. It didn’t end there. The elevators worked less than half the time. You’d put your key in over and over again until it turned green for you to be able to push your button for the floor you were staying on. Overall not a great experience. I called about the charges. The girl I talked to pretty much said that’s the package you got and said she could have a manage call me. I haven’t heard anything yet. We will see.

Love the Davenport! Service has changed the last 2 years as well as quality in the restaurant. But you cannot beat the historic Ambience of such a wonderful place and the memories that you can share there.

  • 2/5 Melinda S. 1 year ago on Google
The room was not that great and definitely not for the price. Linens were very thin and not soft and pillows were flat. There was no guidance provided on next am breakfast. It was Mother’s Day and we were told wrong information about the breakfast voucher and ended up with no breakfast. Walls and curtains were dingy and looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in years. Not enough towels and paper supplies for 4 people staying in the room. We requested extra pillows and received 1 more flat pillow. Very disappointing and compared to the other two Davenport properties, this one has gone downhill for the rooms quality. and decor.

This hotel is beautiful and I loved all the history. Unfortunately the staffing shortage has hit them hard. The room was clean and spacious but we had no cleaning service the 4 nights we were there so our trash built up and we were daily having to call for things, including coffee, and creamers, towels, water, and shower gell. The shower gel bottle was empty when we checked in and that was your only bathing soap option. We were in a suite with a sofa bed which we used for our nephew but had to request pillows. To there credit everything we asked for was brought except on the last day. We called twice for coffee, creamers and waters and never received these items. We let them know when we checked out and they gave us a discount on that day. I think we should have gotten a discount for each day given the lack of service to our room. We used the Palm Grill for a meal in there private room and the service and foid were both amazing.

The most gorgeous hotel I have ever seen, the detail is stunning from floor to ceiling! I feel so special when I'm here, whether I am just visiting for a delicious meal, or a great drink in the beautiful peacock lounge, or the gift of staying in any of the wonderful rooms with very comfortable beds and great indoor pool/hot tub, I am always treated with decadent service! Yes, please!

Not an overall exemplary experience for a luxury hotel and the price paid for the room. There was absolutely no housekeeping during our entire visit. When I called about housekeeping, they said that housekeeping came after your stay. My only guess is that they are severely understaffed and not Covid reasons as masks were not required. We asked for water and towels to be sent up but after asking for third time, we were better off going down to the front desk and getting it ourselves. The room itself was okay. The air conditioner hardly worked so it was a little warm. The room card keys hardly worked either and judging by the front desk’s reaction after asking to get them changed, it seemed like a regular occurrence. The coffee barista was hardly ever there so you’re better off getting coffee down the street. The building is beautiful but you don’t need to stay to have a look inside. The extra star is for the staff who were all pretty friendly.

I'm so disappointed in our stay at the Davenport. I've lived in Spokane 10 years and this was my first stay so my expectations were high to be fair. I paid $350 for a single night and it was not at all worth it. Quality of this hotel is more on par with a $100 a night hotel. It's a gorgeous hotel but it is just a facade. The true quality is fairly low. 1. Our bed was not level so our heads were a few inches lower than our feet. 2. We used two cribs from the hotel. One was very wobbly and old, also there were no sheets for the crib mattress so they just laid down a couple towels, which is not safe nor comfortable. 3. The light in our bathroom was strobing and clicking horribly so we had to use the bathroom without the light on. Not worth the money. Just very disappointing.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Davenport Tower. The front lobby/bar and restaurant area flow together wonderfully. The rooms are in excellent condition and the beds/pillows are so comfy. We would definitely stay here again. We had a couple of drinks at the bar and ordered a quick bite and the staff were very friendly.

  • 3/5 Elizabeth R. 1 year ago on Google
Overall, it was a good stay. However, there were several issues. 1. There was a giant bug in our room, that we had to trap under a wine glass. 2. The window seals are awful, and you can hear everything on the street, including all the engine revving, police sirens, and the train. 3. The doors are not soft-close, nor are they thick, so you could hear every door in the hallway, every time it opened and closed. Between the street noise and the hallway noise, I think you should provide earplugs for your guests. 4. The duvet on the bed was extremely thin. We had to turn the heat up, which is unusual for us as we generally like our bedroom around 68 degrees, but had to turn it up to 74 degrees to stay warm. 5. There was only one bathrobe in the room, even though we notified them there would be two guests staying. 6. There where only 2 bottles of water, and 3 coffee pods even though we had booked a 2 night stay. The second day we did not have enough water remaining to make a cup of coffee, so used water from the sink. I didn't get a cup of coffee at all on the second day since there were only 3 coffee pods (and one green tea pod), for a 2 night stay. 7. We had no hand soap in the bathroom, despite calling for a refill within the first hours of our stay on the first night. We never received hand soap, so had to use the shower body wash. 8. Parking is $25 a night, which I did not remember reading upon booking this. I also had to pay $20 (plus tax) on something called a "destination amenity fee", which still has not been explained to me. So intead of paying the quoted $391, it was closer to $460 after taxes and fees. 9. Several of the hotel lobby doors were closed, so each time we left we would have to walk through the lobby and all the way around the block, instead of taking one of the inexplicably closed side doors. 10. The bench at the end of the bed was cracked through one of the legs and extremely unstable. Luckily we noticed it before attempting to sit on it. This hotel had too many issues for that price. The historical aspect was neat, and the architecture was beautiful, but ultimately I wish I had stayed at a different hotel with a more reasonable price. Or at least a quieter hotel.

The location and lobby are gorgeous but drafty because of the crowds at Christmas season (which started earlier in December than I expected). The lobby's wood carvings are opulent. The rooms aren't bad. The service is good. I went at a particularly busy time of year which isn't my fav. but that's on me. I enjoyed my Turkey and Havarti sandwich but it got cold quickly because of everyone coming in to look at the trees. Even so it was tasty. Staff were kind and helpful. The Christmas tree decorated to it's usually grandeur and elegance.

  • 5/5 Chris T. 1 year ago on Google
If you have the extra money for valet parking while you are there, that is definitely the most convenient. I've always wanted to stay here so we did some cost saving measures by self parking in the garage across the street and bringing in our own luggage. Rooms do not have a mini fridge so no place to put leftovers or beverages. All of the staff were helpful and pleasant. The rooms were lovely and my husband loved the shower. The Palm Grill was excellent. We dined there with friends. The best part is the ginormous Christmas tree and all the beautiful lights and decorated trees throughout. The Peacock Room has an exquisite stained glass ceiling of a peacock. The gathering room by the Palm Grill has a grand piano that is often well attended by a gifted musician. This area has comfortable seating in addition to tables. It is definitely worth a visit and a comfortable overnight.

The most amazing and historic hotel! Service is excellent and friendly. Rooms are classic yet modern and very clean. I have never slept better than on the amazing mattresses on their beds. (Which they will sell you for $1800.) I always try to stay here when in Spokane.
