Not just at this location, but at all of them. The computerized self check out does more interfering than assisting. It is not programmed in a manner that allows for intelligent, smooth or simplified bagging while checking out and the entire process will be shut down if you breathe wrong. If people weren’t such impatient, pacification needy, dumbed down sheep, they would cripple stores that utilize these machines by backing up the live cashier lines or shop elsewhere until the self checkouts were adjusted to be more shopper friendly and convenient. I’m done with this place that’s for sure If a company is that worried about somebody stealing something, maybe they should hire armed security to watch the self check out aisles. UPDATE: Compared to other locations, it is quite clear that this location gouges to the extreme. Just because you live in an area where people may have a little higher income, it doesn’t mean you deserve to pay more for the same item someone else is paying less for under the same banner in a different location. UPDATE: ShopRite consistently portends to have items on sale that they literally never have in stock which is actually called a bait and switch tact designed to manipulate customers at paying full regular price for a similar item or even more, and there is never anyone around seems to know the procedure for providing a rain check. Companies like this spend more money paying people to find ways of skirting consumer laws and basic human decency in the name of profit rather than offer consumers fair pricing and honest treatment. ShopRite in Perth Amboy. It is much better stocked and has even better deals and more coupons. Only a 15 minute drive., Maybe 20 with Traffic from the Spotswood store. Note the total savings of $12.96 on a 72 count K cup, five 2L bottles of soda and hairspray. (Uncrumpled photo of receipt below). Imagine what I would have saved if I needed even more items. That alone is worth driving an extra 15- 20 minutes. The response below, claiming to be concerned and inviting me to contact them is nothing more than a ploy to present the public with the illusion of being proactive. If you call, you will either get a fax sound or the runaround.

This store does Not Take cleanliness seriously. Deli department’s slicing machine All were filthy! Not one of them were cleaned or wiped down after cutting cheeses, meats, etc.( See pictures attached). I told manager weeks ago, but machines in deli department still disgustingly dirty on a re- visit! Never again! Shameful!

Went to use clip coupons. Items were not available and I was refused rainchecks stating that items were Digital Only, however no where on coupon does it state thus nor does it show no rainchecks. I call bull and very unhappy. Have shopped here for 45 yrs, but will make Stop & Shop my store.

Store was clean not crowded and workers were very helpful as they did move things around. Shelves were stocked and the meats and fish were plentiful. Only thing as in every where you go what would have cost me $280-$290, actually cost this trip $345. Incrediable how everything has sky rocketed in such a short time.

The deli is always extremely slow. Get through two numbers in 20 minutes. Literally say to myself every time I shop here, “I hate this shop rite’, I hate this shop rite”. Shouldn’t have to be like that 11 am on a weekday. Management needs to do something, absolutely ridiculous. Always in this store way longer than I need be.

I know I haven't been a fan of other shoprite's in the area, but this one seems to be managed differently. Always a friendly face and a happy demeanor in all the employees. Update: still the best shoprite in the area by far.

Not very diverse in a lot of Cultural Food's but I DO like the fact that they have more healthy veggie choices. Especially Ezekiel Bread which is a little hard to find in other Shop Rite's

I usually like going to this shoprite but today my experience was not good. I couldnt find half the things on my list which they used to carry but they dont seem to carry anymore. They let me wait on line with their light on. When i had already had several items on the conveyor belt they put up their closed sign. Even the lady in front of me said something about me waiting on line 10 minutes. Then the next line i had to again wait in the cashier was the slowest person i have ever seen.

Older grocery store that reminds me of shopping in the 70's as a kid. Prices were high and sales require customer loyalty card which I didn't have since I'm not from NJ. Just not a fan. If your nostalgic, go here! If not, be a member and goto BJ's.

It’s not really a review but it’s to address a matter. Why and does it matter if I’m paying using a WIC card vs a food stamp card. I usually came to the store to collect WIC for my child and sometimes I order other stuffs and select the wrong WIC item this usually happen with the eggs. Why would a cashier be mad at me to say I’m using a debit card when I swipe a food stamp card instead . I didn’t steal, I paid for my items, but this made me feel uncomfortable. I need to know if I’m in the wrong. If I’m being picked on when I just do some shopping and treat people with respect and be on my way. It’s usually the little things. Please clarify this! Thank you!

Hate this shoprite, especially if you go in at night while they are stocking shelves. They get so nasty, rolling of eyes, hollering over to other workers. " we got a winner over here". Excuse me if people are trying to shop! They will block the aisle, especially the guy who packs out frozen, and he literally takes the frito lay rolling end caps or displays and blocks both ends so no customers can get down the isle. Let's talk about self check out only at this time. The women is too busy chatting away and gets annoyed with everyone. You are also limited on what you can purchase because self scan is a small area with everyone piled up in same area. No culture food and I don't mean kosher only! There is a huge polish, Russian and Ukrainian community and none of these foods are sold here!! Shoprite East Brunswick is at least trying to find vendors for these foods!

I do most of my ordering online. A Few years ago they would notify me if my item wasnt in stock and if I wanted to substitute. Now if I buy 20 items online I receive half of that, but get charged for missing items. Then I have to go in to customer service to get the items I paid for that weren't in my order. Then I stroll through the isles and look for the items that i placed an order for but didnt receive. There they are in stock. Im assuming they are rushing through orders .... This shoprite needs to do better with orders placed online.... This happens to 90 percent of my orders. I'd rather go elsewhere to shop at this point.

Good store very clean & always have what my mom needs when I bring her. Just wanted to add that, I was parking & noticed a older lady looking confused and stuck by the door. She couldn’t find her car but the man who works there(assuming he’s the manager) came out to help her. It made me smile bcuz he was so kind to her & took time to make sure she got in her car safely. Great act of kindness!

I love coming to the local supermarket. I am here about 4-5 times a month. They always have great quality and fresh stuff. All the employees are so kind and always look happy, which makes the environment even better. I love that they incorporated this year, kid shopping carts that they call "shopper in training." My sons love them and it makes shopping with my kids that much easier. They also have smart carts, which look very complicated, and I've had yet to try. But they usually have a girl standing there to show you how if your patient and not in a hurry.

I would like to take the time to commend one of your employees: Greg, he has been very helpful for me to find what I needed and has a good character.

Claudia was the cashier who was so very helpful and incredibly efficient. She worked fast while still being very patient and full of explanations for me. Shop Rite of Spots wood is laid out like an upscale grocery store. The produce section looks like a farmers' market! The deli and pre-made foods include fried chicken, subs, sushi, soup, salads, appetizers and more. Every one was fresh, in the right place and in date. Foods on shelves were stocked by item type, not by brand. This may or may not be helpful to you. Some snack foods are definitely hard to find. I was unable to locate Smart Water and Tastykake items.

This supermarket has the Best prices in the area and improved their prepared food selection alot. It has a local, friendly staff. Because the store is kinda small, it can get crowded during peak times. Thankfully its open 24 hours a day although some services aren't available past 10 pm.

So nice to see the shelves full and a lot of variety. I was able to get some fruit, fresh veggies, 5pkgs of meat, deli items, shrimp, salmon, sauce, pasta, gluten free items, yogurt and snacks for $266. In today's insanity, thought I got a good deal. Some items were ridiculously priced and some fruit didn't feel or smell right.
