Went there for a late lunch today around 2 p.m. After entering the building it took around 10 minutes to see any person at all. When finally greeted it was by a cook who said "Hope you haven't been here long" without a smile or any type of emotion what so ever. Upon seating ourselves the tables we walked by still showed the business from the lunch rush and stayed that way the entire hour we were there. Mind you we were the only customers there until towards the end of our visit. A waitress walked in to begin her shift as our food sat in the window for 5 + minutes. When she finally brought us our food she asked "is this ya'll's? Again we were the only ones in the restaurant mind you. Never once did she check back to see how it was nor smile at all. She sat another customer then took what seemed to be a complaint call as she was very apologetic in front of us and the other customer. A call which in my opinion should've been taken outside of the dining room. We had to wipe our table before we ate and bussed our table at the end. I wouldn't recommend this location to any one when you've got Wings Etc right next door with smiling faces large portions and excellent customer service with a clean establishment at peak service hours. Food was good but that's about all I can say about this place.

Great bang for your buck! I get the pulled pork sandwich, slaw on top, and two sides for only a little bit of money, especially compared to some of the other bbq joints around town. I like that you place your order and then seat yourself vs. having someone constantly waiting on you. The food is always fresh and delicious. No complaints here!

This place is a must try! The service was very friendly. I had the 2 item combo with brisket and pork loin with corn and beans for sides. Great value for the quality!! Brisket was done of the best I've ever had. They have 7 BBQ sauces to choose from with the 7th being an over the counter ask.

Really nice folks working there, cool atmosphere and plenty of folks in there for lunch. Got the brisket sandwich and okra (which was especially good). I’d come again; like to try the ribs or burnt ends next time. Their house sauces were really good.👍

Brisket, smoked green beans and cheesy corn. 26 minutes to serve, be prepared to wait a little. The Brisket sliced thin and tender, exceptional taste. The cheesy corn had me searching the internet for the recipe, and that's saying a lot for me. Unfortunately, the smoked green bean let me down, leaving a film on my teeth and a disappointment that was barely overridden by the quality of the rest of the meal. It's worth the visit.

Fast service and delicious food. The brisket and jalapeño sauge were great. Prices are reasonable as well. Going back for sure.

Stopped in here based on a recommendation from a work colleague during my business trip, was not disappointed! The atmosphere is reminiscent of an older diner which I loved. The gal at the front was awesome - very nice and informative. Prices were very good, I believe a half rack of ribs was around $15 which is amazing. For those unaccustomed, there are a few different styles of BBQ, St. Louis being one of the top and Texas being the other. St. Louis style is a little bit tougher than Texas so if you are coming here expecting meat that melts in your mouth you will be expecting the wrong style. This does fall off the bone, but it's got to be chewed and savored. The flavor was absolutely phenomenal. I only have about 25% of my taste back from when I had COVID, but even with that I could tell these ribs were amazing. The six sauces available at the table were all very good, but my personal favorites were 2, 3, and 5. All in all, absolute Grade A BBQ. Loved the place, will recommend to all my colleagues who travel here for work.

I wanted to like this place... Monday at 1145am... My son ordered Brisket Nachos for 11.00. Sorry, canned cheese on tostitos with a few slices is not worth 11.00. On top of that, it was pretty bad, he didn't eat it or want a "to go" for anyone else. My Brisket sandwich was good, but for the prices, can we forego the Great Value buns from Walmart and maybe use a Brioche? I doubt I'll be back. The staff was very friendly... I really wanted to like it.

Upon walking in the atmosphere wasn’t inviting! I am a woman of color and they reminded me. When I say that , I don’t mean with words, I mean with actions! The person who took my order was short spoken and harsh. It was lunch time but they weren’t busy. No one was behind me in line. The lady took my order asked if it was for here or to go, it was for here. About 15 min later my food comes out, she calls my name, I go up front and my food is made to go….. strike 1. I walk up to get my food because she wasn’t budging from behind the counter! Strike 2. She called every other name and when she identified their whereabouts, she WALKED their food over to them! Not me though. When I went up front to get my food she says, “ it was for here , right? Well he made it to go…”. STRIKE 3. No apology, nothing. The food was actually cooked well, I had fresh catfish made. The CUSTOMER WAS TRASH! The cashier was being friendly with the other patrons but not me. Did I mention I was the only BLACK person in the eatery??? They definitely made me know it!

What a disappointment. I ordered a brisket plate and it was terrible. Sliced razor thin, absolutely zero smoked flavor and tough. I've had brisket from all over the US. Texas, Tennessee, Kansas, The Carolina's. Owner, maybe you should take a trip to a place that does it right. Or just take it off the menu. I take no pleasure in this review, but after spending $32 for a plate and a sandwich we couldn't eat. The truth is the truth!

This place has really good bbq. Both times I've had the pulled chicken with potato salad and cheesy corn sides. They have the best potato salad I've ever had!! It's gourmet! Seriously! And the Cheesy corn was just as delicious. Never had such delicious sides. I need these recipes.

Being drivers we always pass by this place. We finally decided to give it a go. And omg it was fantastic!! The staff were all very friendly and pleasant to talk to. We basically had the whole restaurant to ourselves so it was nice and quiet. The food was out of this world! Definitely can't wait to come back!!

We stopped in because of the great reviews and this place did not disappoint. You ordered cafeteria style at the counter and then they called your name. My sone got the burnt ends which were quite tasty. I got the brisket with green beans and baked beans which was quite good. Their sauce selection was excellent also. Overall a great experience and tasty food.

The Whole hog platter was large and enough for two to three people. The ribs were so tender; sliced pork was awesome and all three sides were delicious as well. Used Grub Hub to order and first time user received $10 credit, score again. We will come back on our next trip back to Springfield...

This place is amazing and the food was delicious and so filling. The staff is very friendly, professional, and attentive to their customers. You must pay before you sit to eat. Whole hog cafe is a family friendly restaurant specializing in great BBQ. I highly recommend this place to everyone who enjoys great food...

Food was pretty good. Liked having 6 different sauces to choose from. Had the pulled pork sandwich. The pork was a little dry and the large chunk of meat made it a little hard to eat and hold the sandwich. This was my first time eating here and would go back to try other menu items, especially their ribs.

Nice people. Great atmosphere. The food was AMAZING! We got our choice of six different sauces. They were all great. The bathrooms were not deep cleaned. I left in there feeling a little grimy. But the excellent food outweighed the bathrooms. I’d definitely go again!

This barbecue is famous for a reason. They have a variety of barbecue sauces on each table, six to be exact, that include sweet mild molasses, traditional tomato, spicy traditional tomato, traditional southern vinegar, sweet heavy molasses, and rich mustard and vinegar. It’s great to try them all. Also, the potato salad is probably the best potato salad I have ever had! It has a very unique and creamy texture that I would highly recommend to anyone dining here if potato salad is your thing. Seriously try it! We will definitely come back as we drive through again in the future.

The ribs and brisket were oh so good! I loved their sauce. I bought some to take home. I would definitely recommend this place to anybody passing through Springfield or for the locals. It is right off of I-44 in Glenstone so easy access to the highway. I live in Kansas City and we know good bbq but this place was awesome.

Wife and I got here about 3:00 and the place was empty. We placed our orders and pretty much had the whole house to pick from on seating. I got some sweet tea and it was awesomely good. I don't think it was 10 minutes before we received our meal. I ordered the three meat platter with baked beans and green beans for the sides. The beans that I got were awesome. The meat that I got was okay. I have had better but I've had a whole whole lot worse. On the tables sat a varied assortment of barbecue sauces that were pretty darn tasty. So I spritzed a little on my meat and it was good to go, gave it a little more kick. Folks, if you're ever in the area stop by any Whole Hog Cafe, I really don't think you'll be disappointed.
