This is a beautiful and soulful hot spot for surfers, friends, and all the likes of people. A gorgeous downstairs garden facing some impeccable waves, and an upstairs roof top bar, with arguably the best sunset view in Ahangama. The chef, Solo, is hands down one of the best on the coast, beautiful food, and extremely delicious, served always with so much love.

I had an amazing time at Lighthouse. It really felt like being at home there. As a solo traveler I made a lot of friends. The location is simply perfect. You wake up and have an amazing view of the ocean and for surfers you can check the conditions of a few spots. Also, surfing in Devil Island peak is just a paddle away. The atmosphere of the place is great! All people working at Lighthouse are extremely friendly, competent and professional. I was also amazed by the quality of the food, had great meals there. There is both a rooftop and a garden which you can appreciate the sunset. The staff gave the best recommendations on what to do, where to surf and how to get around. Definitely coming back soon!

The lighthouse: our happy place.. We liked it so much we canceled another bookin just to come back and finish our holidays at the lighthouse.. that actually says it all :).. Every single one here, from the gardener, to the portier, to the cleaning personal, the service, the kooks, the manager, the cat and dogs and even the owner are super nice and chill.. one feels very welcome.. cool beachfront garden with shade and style.. great clean rooms all with seaview and style.. great rooftop bar/restaurant for a sundowner or dinner.. great surfspot right in front of the hotel.. great food (treveller ceviche was my personal favorite).. furniture and everything else very stylish but still very relaxed, nothing left to chance, great love for detail.. super easy 5/5 stars.. Thank you for having us.. we will definetly come back :))..

Did not stay here but I’ve visited the restaurant three times in just a few days! The service is very good, staff always smiling and genuinely care if you’re having a good time. Great food, possibly some of the best hummus dips I’ve ever eaten! Keep up the good work guys!

I stayed at the Lighthouse for two weeks and it was one of the most magical places I've ever been. Tarek and his team are very friendly and always there if you need advice of any kind, the food is delicious, the rooms are clean and well furnished, the views are magnificent, the location is superb with a very nice surf sport right in front of your door and the vibes overall are just some of the reasons I like this place so much.

The Lighthouse cafe became one of our favourite places to be. The ambience and location is a wonderful spot to kickback and enjoy the view with some great food. My wife and I returned multiple times and have eaten different dishes on the menu. The food was always delicious. The staff are really friendly and kind. It’s also a great place to stop in and have a coffee or refreshening drink as you watch the waves crash on the shore. We would really recommend this spot to all.

The Lighthouse Ahangama is quite literally the reason I now consider Sri Lanka and - more specifically Ahangama - my second home. Every detail of the stay, from the attentive always-smiling service to the unique and delicious menu curated by the culinary master Mr. Solo. Every aspect is an experience. It’s warm, it’s peaceful, and their extremely popular rooftop is known amongst locals and tourists alike to be the best sunset spot for miles. Did I mention the unmatched welcoming vibe of the owner? Or the unique live music that often fills the greenery of the beachfront garden? Or the surf? Did I mention the view of a horizon so wide that it’ll make you existential? There are hundreds of reasons to come here but my number one reason is that unlike any other place in the world, whether it’s your first time at The Lighthouse or your fourth, it’s that as soon as you set foot in it, you feel like you’re finally home.

There’s nothing compared to the positive energy this place has given me. From amazing sunsets by the ocean to creative cocktails over nice music at the rooftop. The staff and guests were very kind. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I can’t wait to go back for the second time this year!

I went to the restaurant to get something to eat. On the property were 2 dogs and 1 cat that joined us. As we were paying, a staff member grabbed one of the dogs hard, pulled him into the back room and hit him with a stick. The other employees laughed at this. Worst experience! This kind of thing should not be supported!!! Would not recommend it to anyone.

Yes, the place is charmy with a splendid view on the ocean. The garden with its kind of vintage infrastructure and the grass with the trees is cool. The „sitting“ in the ocean (you cant swim since too many rocks) is pleasure. The meals are ok (prawn schnitzel) to super yummy (as the ceviche). Last not least the view on the roof top is unique in the close surrounding. Wifi works well too. Yet a few points piling up makes it simple not that nice especially taken into account the 80 usd for the night. Specifically: Contacted us 24h in advance (nice) regarding check in time..well they will try for a early check in. On our arrival they already had already over one hour to do the cleaning yet at the end we still waited 1 1/2h without beeing asked if we would like to drink something. The aircon blows fully towards the bed head so better cover yourself well to avoid sickness. Pretty small rooms yet bathroom ok but smelly so open the window. The prices for the food is really high also compared to similair restaurants in Ahangama with sea view too. Check the food bill since you risk get charged too much. Paid the food with credit card additional +4% charged not much but well not really „nice“ taken the previous point into account. As from 4pm you forced to go up to the rooftop to consum and hence no drinks/dinner just alongside the ocean front in the garden (as the case in the neighbour hotel with the result packed with dinning guests). At the (expensive) rooftop restaurant the music was at a rather high level (we did hear it in the room two floors below too) preventing having a normal conversation. A bit difficult to know who was in charge in the hotel..e.g. on 2nd day in the afternoon finally a new staff asked if we need something room wise.. (yes positive ..fast service to order food/drinks), owner kind of present and not (one of them who was often around passed a short „hello“). Finally if you need a ride to an other city after check out well no support from the hotel. Etc. So to sum up a great location with charmy, cool infrastructure with a „wild“ ocean in front. Yet for the mentioned price per night taken the little list before into account not sure we can recommend the hotel. Since service wise more like a youth hostel with basic not really good service level yet with prices rather on the higher part for Sri Lanka. We had better and more charmy service in home stays or bed & breakfast on our Sri Lanka trip for 1/2 the price per night with breakfast and great sea view included. PS After our rating done one of the westerner owners wrote a derespectful comment about us in airbnb. Well what had to be proven😀.

The best hotel in the area!! The rooms, the stuff, the location is the best Rooftop bar is a must for sunsets and dinner, the food is very good, try the hummus is the best around the area. I felt that the people who run the place do it with passion and lots of love 🙏🏼

It is safe to say " I never want to leave this place " the minute you step foot at Lighthouse. The staff, Tarek & Solo were so welcoming and extremely generous and just beautiful. Suddenly it felt like home with family specially with sultan the cat. The whole experience has switched my perspective on traveling in the best way ! The rooftop and garden views are incredible not to mention the music and the food and drinks. absolutely wonderful journey ! recommended big time , can't wait to go back. also if you are going for 6 days or less it's not enough :)

Never had the chance to stay here but been a frequent visitor to their rooftop bar. And really, nothing can beat that view! Amazing to sit and watch the sun go down while surfers are trying their best to catch the last wave before dusk. Cocktails and food is great and so is the music!! Great hosts and great staff!

Been wanting to come here for a while so made a special effort today however we were left extremely disappointed! Ordered 2 smoothies from the downstairs bar and found a seat to watch the lovely view of the sea. Before we knew it we realised we had been waiting 25 minutes for our drinks! So we went up to the 4 staff members behind the bar, who were busy chatting and laughing and clearly forgetting our drinks as no drinks were being made. We asked where our drinks were? The reply was yes yes yes with an eye roll 🙄 NICE! A sorry of a delay would have been better! Waited another 5 minutes while we watched the staff blended our smoothies. When we eventually received the drinks which were tasteless. Just felt like they had added water and turmeric. Obviously they added ginger because I found a lump of that at the bottom of my glass. A long wait for a tasteless drink which was wasn’t worth the money and not the greatest customer service. Not for me thank you.

A lovely place with spectacular views from roof the top bar especially at sunset. Staff are really friendly. Host is a great guy and care is taken with your cocktail drinks. Limited menu but great tasting food. It's more cocktails than beer at this location, great if your a couple or small group...!!!

The rooftop bar is great - amazing cocktails and sunset. The food is on another level - super delicious. Tarek and the rest of the staff were so friendly, attentive and caring. He helped us at giving recommendations for surf lessons and massage. Would 100% recommend it as a great place to stay!

Really really loved this place. - the building itself is beautiful and is striking from the minute it hits the horizon - the lawn area and the view out to see is second to none and is filled with comfortable seating for you to take it all in - it's a great place to people watch 😅 We managed to get there on a night where there was a DJ playing great tracks, which brought in all the backpackers. The overall vibe was great and watching the sunset from the small portion of beach in front (they closed the roof for the event) was amazing. It's not the cheapest spot. Something to keep in mind. Would highly recommend.

The most beautiful location on the coast. The vibe of the place is a reflection of the owner and the people working: chill, cool and mega friendly. The food and drinks are super good. Rooms are beautiful and spacious. Both the garden and the rooftop bar are great places to be.

Sublime. Wonderful stay. Warm, welcoming & accommodating staff that feel like family. The property is secure with spectacular views and sounds of the sea. The rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable. Delicious food and cocktail menu. Great vibes, you will never want to leave. Highly recommend and looking forward to returning.

I can’t believe how good the isso burger is. Probably one of the best burgers I’ve ever had I am in awe of the flavour. My wife thinks the curry mayo and chippies were also elite

Went for sunset cocktails on the rooftop. What a view! Delish cocktails, lovely service, and amazing grilled shrimp. Expect to pay Western prices for it, but worth it.

We ended our travels here in Lighthouse and it was the best decision. You can just enjoy the beautiful view from the Rooftop or chill in the garden at the sea and meet cool people. The staff is amazing and helpful and makes you feel like beeing at home. We also enjoyed the good vibes in the surrounding restaurants und bars, where locals, expats and travelers come together. We will be back!
