Amazing place, quiet atmosphere away from the noisy main road. It was without a doubt the best freshly made rice and curry we've eaten so far. The hosts were welcoming and warm. The directions on Maps are wrong: get out from the main road at Thalduwa Road and immediately after crossing the train tracks turn left on the small street.

Oh man, this was definitely the best rice&curry we ate in Sri Lanka so far 🤯 Huge portions, every curry was simply delicious. Very well-spiced, but not burning hot 😁 Great vibe and affordable prices. Just go and try it yourself! 😉

If you intend to dine out in the latest trendy Sri Lankan restaurant and impress your growing crowd of Instagram followers with fancy pictures, then don’t go to Machan Curry Pot. Machan Curry Pot is not even a “proper” restaurant. It is something different; something you ought to try during your holiday. Kumara and his family have set up their little business in their backyard. The food is fresh, tasty (one of the best curries we have had) and comes in generous quantity. You won’t be disappointed. We will go back.

This is incredible — i had fish curry for dinner and the flavours were insane. So many dishes, all super tasty. Best fish curry in the Ahangama area and i’ve been eating fish curry everyday for 2 weeks… would recommend 10* review but it only goes up to 5 :) The owner and his family are the nicest people too. I lost all my luggage and he loaned me his beard trimmer - i was starting to look a bit homeless.

A real gem of a place, can’t rate it highly enough! Parbath is an amazing host, him and his family cook the most incredible Sri Lankan cuisine. Likely the best culinary experience I had in all of Sri Lanka. Not to be missed, book ahead for the crab curry. The mango chutney is to die for!

Favorite place to have dinner! Machan is so cool and his family is lovely. I came every day I was around, and really enjoyed the curry after surf sessions. I always came alone and ended up with having met new friends. Great vibes, great buffet ! See you soon:)

Machen Curry Pot is a fantastic restaurant with some of the best food we have had in Sri Lanka and the friendliest owner and family who run it. We came here twice in the 6 days we were here. The whole concept, setup and style of the place is great! The food was amazing - a traditional curry with lots of choices on the side. The family who runs it is so nice and made us feel so welcome. We came here with two small kids and they also put in extra effort to prepare something they could eat which was less spicy. We will definitely come back on our next trip to Sri Lanka
