The place was nice with nature sceneries. But there is no any activity to enjoy since everything was brocken. And the Road was fully damaged. Cann't go by a car. Must use van or jeep. What is unfair is there are asking so much money without providing anything. Since road is damaged, there are so many tuk tuk guys that guidibg not to use car reach there and asking 1500LKR. That's totally unfair. I suggest not to go there until there repair the road. I was totally unhappy by visiting there..

The lake is bordered by Cambell’s Land forest reserve and situated at an elevation of 1,140 m. The misty and chilly atmosphere with pine trees and tea-coveredΒ slopes surrounding the lake make visitors feel relaxed and tranquil. What puts the lake in the top as a leisure and family travel destination is the plethora of adventure activities availableΒ such as zip-lining, swan/motor boat riding, canoeing and hiking. Bathing and swimming in the lake, however, is not allowed since the lake is fairly deep (30 – 40 ft), there is a separate pool built for that purpose. Long vehicles like 54 seat Leyland buses/Coaches should be parked here. Small vehicles can safely be driven beyond this point up to the lake and park at the lake premises. Owing to the narrowness of the road, it can be heavily congested during holidays.Tuk-Tuk drivers at the turning points try to dissuade people from getting their vehicles on to the lake road so that they can earn their buck. You should hear none of this since all sorts of vehicles travel upon this road daily. There are some hiking trails through the surrounding pines forests as well. We’ve heard about a trek from Kallebokke to the lake in passing and shall update this post once we find the exact trail details. If you do know any other trails, let us know in the comments. There are no restaurants available hence It’s better to bring your own food and drinks. For overnight stays, a cook and equipment will be provided. BBQ Cookers are available for an additional fee.

In Matale District, Sri Lanka, Sembuwatta Lake is a man-made body of water created from natural spring water close to Campbell's Lane Forest Reserve. A terrific place to get lost in thought and reflect on the amazing sights you've seen while traveling in Sri Lanka is the vast expanse of deep blue ocean, which is framed by misty mountains and tea gardens. Sembuwatta Lake, a wonderful location with natural spring water, is one of the hill country's most magnificent attractions. It reflects the natural beauty of the area and is tucked away among the vast tea plants. It is well worth the effort to climb the lovely green mountains with a dense pine forest that tower above the lake. The lake is surrounded by summer houses and cottages, and a pool filled with fresh spring water is located close by. Travelers that opt to camp overnight at the location are provided with a package that includes a security guard/cook and other necessary supplies (Gas Cooker, Rice Cooker, Generator). Only one or two groups of ten individuals are allowed to spend the night, though. A higher cost will be applied if the group is larger. Sadly, only men are permitted to camp at night.

Amazing place to visit but road maintenance was poor, so recommend not going on a low-profile vehicle. An entrance of 250 is being charged from a local visitor. Cabana is available to sit down and enjoy the company of beautiful scenery

recently had the pleasure of visiting Sembuwatta Lake in Elkaduwa, and I must say, it was an absolute delight. Tucked away amidst the picturesque landscapes of Sri Lanka, this hidden gem offers an enchanting escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. From the moment I arrived at Sembuwatta Lake, I was captivated by its natural beauty. Surrounded by lush greenery and rolling hills, the lake boasts crystal-clear, emerald waters that glisten under the warm sun. The setting is nothing short of breathtaking, making it the perfect spot for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts alike. One of the highlights of my visit was the opportunity to swim in the lake. The water was refreshingly cool and invigorating, providing respite from the tropical heat. As I glided through the calm waters, I couldn't help but feel a sense of tranquility washing over me. It was truly a rejuvenating experience, and I highly recommend taking a dip to fully appreciate the serene ambiance. For those who prefer a more leisurely experience, Sembuwatta Lake offers a charming lakeside park where you can relax and enjoy the scenery. The well-maintained grounds are dotted with picnic areas and shaded spots, allowing visitors to unwind amidst nature's embrace. I found myself losing track of time as I sat on one of the benches, savoring the peaceful atmosphere and admiring the stunning views. If you're feeling adventurous, there is also a zip line that offers a thrilling ride across the lake. It's an exhilarating way to take in the beauty of the surroundings while getting your adrenaline pumping. The staff on-site were professional and ensured safety at all times, making the experience even more enjoyable. Moreover, Sembuwatta Lake is known for its mesmerizing sunrise and sunset vistas. I was lucky enough to witness both during my visit, and they were truly awe-inspiring. The colors painted across the sky reflected in the still waters, creating a surreal and magical ambiance. I would highly recommend waking up early or staying until dusk to witness these natural spectacles firsthand. In terms of facilities, Sembuwatta Lake provides clean restrooms and changing rooms, ensuring visitors can freshen up comfortably. Additionally, there are several food stalls nearby, offering a variety of local snacks and refreshments. I particularly enjoyed savoring some delicious Sri Lankan street food while taking in the scenic views. In conclusion, Sembuwatta Lake in Elkaduwa is a true haven for those seeking serenity and natural beauty. Whether you're looking for a peaceful retreat, an adventure-filled day, or simply a place to unwind amidst stunning surroundings, this hidden gem has it all. The harmonious blend of crystal-clear waters, lush greenery, and captivating landscapes will leave you with memories to cherish for a lifetime. I highly recommend visiting Sembuwatta Lake and allowing its enchanting allure to embrace you fully.

During the global pandemic this place has taken extra precautions on social distancing and safety first. Sunny during the day. Make sure you carry an umbrella or a cap along with some shades. Beautiful lake view, boat rides available and zip line jumping across the lake available. Alot of pine trees. Small huts to chill and enjoy lunch/ breakfast. At times it can be crowded but there's so much space to walk around. Parking is at your own road. The road to get to this location is TERRIBLE. If you're travelling in a car with lower suspension, you might wanna rethink. No problem for vans/jeeps.

Place is very attractive. Road is not very good from the beginning and it becomes worse at the last stage. There were three wheeler parks on the way and they told us to park the vehicle there and use their tuk to travel the remaining part of the journey. We traveled on our car(alto) till the last three wheeler park and then got their service. They charged LKR. 1600.00 for up and down. And make sure to buy some food from the small shops on the way ❀️

Getting there is a bit difficult in a car. But don't fall for the Tuk-tuk mafia, they demand high price for the last 2 km road. A very nice place to spend an afternoon with family & kids, advise to carry food and water as there are no stores inside park.

The best place for relaxing!! Sembuwatta Lake is situated in Elkaduwa in the Matale district. It is located close to the Campbell’s Lane Forest Reserve in Matale. This is a man-made lake created from natural spring water and adjacent to it is a natural swimming pool as well. The lake is 9m to 12m in depth and produces electricity for the villagers living close by. Its surface elevation is approximately 1,074 m. At present, the Sembuwatta Lake belongs to the Elkaduwa Plantations. Although it is a man-made lake, the surrounding natural beauty of the lake is breathtaking. The road to the lake is quite tough to drive on. Sembuwatta Lake is surrounded by pine trees and tea-covered slopes and looks very relaxing.

A place where tough journey make you feel worthwhile. Anyone who wants to spend a decent time with their loved ones can have an unforgettable day over there. For about 2km road is in a very bad shape but vans, cabs and SUVs can make it. If your vehicle can't make it take a 3 wheeler which may cost Rs. 1000/-

Trekking through a Pines forest is also a rare opportunity. The large and thick Pines forest bordered by the Lake is a fantastic setting for a adventure trekking . Nature lovers and film makers have found this Pines forest as a paradise for their requirements.
