Green Lobster became a true home and shelter for us during our last visit to Sri Lanka. It’s a family restaurant and Nilantha and his great family are really friendly, open and helpful. I will never forget that tuna stake. It’s the best tuna stake on the Island believe me we’ve spent almost 1,5 month at Ceylon staying at different places. Nilantha’s special sauce definitely deserves an award from somebody like Gordon Ramsay. Just come for the first time and you’ll stay there till the last day of your holiday :) P.S. Next thing we were handed the menu, plenty of options. Couple of days later we went here for dinner. They were a little slow ordering drinks but they did seem to have a rush on at the time. Beers came, they were lovely and cold. Food arrived all together followed by the bowls of salad (which after some discussion/lost in translation we found out is washed in mineral water). The food was lovely, really big portions and the rice (cooked his special way) was yummy. I would have been happy with a plate of rice! Would recommend to anyone who fancies a change to the buffet at the hotels. Lovely setting right on the beach!

What a fantastic find..!!! We were staying in a big hotel next door and we’re getting very annoyed with the poor service and monotonous buffet food. Even the Al a carte menu at the hotel was poor. So one evening very skeptically we decided to pop in to Green Lobster and were welcomed warmly by Nishantha and family, ended up ordering some prawns and lobsters along with a tuna curry, I must admit without this meal our holiday in SL would have been incomplete… Advice to all tourists- don’t be fooled by the 4 / 5 star hotel food. There are Michelin quality food available at a fraction of price along with top level service.
