Recommended to visit here with kids. But if you have read at least one book of Mr Wickamasinghe ,,really you will feel it. Vehicle parking is available ( free) Entry tickets are required , Adults 100 LKR. Kids greater than 6Y to be required entry tickets. If you follow up the walking direction, you can enjoy the visit without missing anything. All ancient time tools, instruments, machines, costumes and vehicles can be seen. The house of Martin Wickamasinghe was the best place. The environment is cool. Do not try the given boat safari offered by the guy who is waiting at the car park. The actual cost is much lower than that. There was an ATM close to the main road.(BoC)

It is not all about the Mr. Martin Wickramasinghe’s books and the life events. It is also a very good place to study about the village life, culture and the history. Better suited for school children. Eventhough it is very close to the galle road, the environment is calm and peaceful. Enough parking space is available in front of the premises and visitors have to buy a ticket to enter the premiss Overall it is a very good experience.

Koggala Martin Wickramasinghe Museum Complex is situated on the Galle – Matara Main Road in Koggala. It is the ancestral home of the renowned Sri Lankan Writer and Poet Martin Wickramasinghe where he lived with his family. The surviving part of the house has been converted in to a museum complex displaying artifacts, photographs, awards and souvenirs of the great writer. The house converted in to a museum is located in a naturally breathtaking backdrop in this small village.

It is a place where there was a worthy man of the era, which should be visited especially with small children. Here in the museum you can see the cultural elements and goods that we did not see in the past. As well as a great wealth of knowledge, the opportunity to see a lot of valuable information will arise here. Here you will be able to see Mr. Martin Wickramasinghe's house and the things he used in a very beautiful environment. Books written by Mr. Martin Wickramasinghe are also available.

Visiting the Martin Wickramasinghe Folk Museum was an incredible journey through Sri Lankan history and culture. This place is an absolute treasure and holds immense value for anyone interested in the rich heritage of Sri Lanka, especially during the colonial era. The displays of tools from various rural industries and the vibrant cultural dresses are enlightening. It’s an ideal spot for families too; your kids can gain a wealth of knowledge about our past with just one visit. What’s impressive is the well-managed environment, which stands out compared to similar places run by government archaeological departments. At just 100 LKR for adults and 50 LKR for children, it’s an affordable educational experience. While the toilet facilities might not be top-notch, the ample parking and friendly security staff ensure a comfortable visit. Don’t miss out on this valuable cultural gem!

MARTIN WICKRAMASINGHE was very famous writer in his own era. In the museum named after him, one can see the various clothes of old time southern people and puppet lovers can see Sri Lankan style puppet collection. Then there is a collection of carts used for commuting, transport of goods as well as used for racing in annual festivities. Finally the home he lived in and a collection of newspaper articles about him and accolades he had received. A worthwhile experience.
