I had such an awesome week at Elsewhere! You are made to feel instantly at home by showing you around the camp and introducing you to staff and fellow guests. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, anything that I needed help with was solved swiftly and professionally, they are prepared to go above and beyond! For example when I needed to organise a visa extension, the guys really saved me potentially a lot of hassle by helping me out. Elsewhere is more than a surf camp, it’s lovely community and I would strongly recommend it to anyone looking to learn or improve their surfing and meet great people! Really fantastic! Thanks again!

I absolutely love this surf camp. Iv come back 4 times and now the new one in weligama is in the best spot you could imagine, just 50 meters to the beach. I never want to leave. they have really upgraded with the new camp. It’s so much better. If I could give 10 stars I would. Sudda the surf guide took me at sunrise and we surfed alone, he knows exactly where to go, perfect lefts handers all by ourselves. Everything just seems so easy here with the staff. They are so friendly. I have stayed with afew other camps and travelled a lot but I highly recommend to stay with Elsewhere surf camps if you want to improve your surfing and have fun and not the break the bank. Good vibes here. The artwork by the pool is cool to.👌

Had an absolutely amazing time here at Elsewhere with the most welcoming staff! The stay was quite comfortable and the rooms/dorms always clean! Great place to come, chill and meet some amazing set of backpackers as you get to bask in the beauty of Weligama!

One of the best places around weligama the people who work there amazing and you will be really feel like a family in a first day in there! The food is amazing! Surf is awesome after surf you will come with happy face and you can see your surf analysis and you can do workout also they got the best gym also yoga 😍❤️ highly recommended

Traveled as a solo backpacker and felt immediately at home. The area outside has a nice big table where people chill, play games and play music. Inside there's an air-conditioned common area whith movies, darts and book exchange. They organize a family dinner every night which makes it really easy to meet people. There's also optional activities almost every day organized. The surfing classes are fair priced and all-inclusive with certified passionate teachers. Whenever my travels take me back to Sri Lanka I know I'll always have a home.

Such a lovely week at Elsewhere Surf Camp in Weligama. Wonderful hosts and staff, delicious food made every evening and the location could not be better. While it may not look onto the beach, just off the main road it is quiet and a short 20m walk to the water.

I was here only for a surf lesson. The lesson was good, and surf video feedback was included, the downside was the price. You're paying around 40€ per lesson, when you can get lessons for just over 10€ at one of the many surf schools at the beach front. On top of that, you have to pay an extra 7€ per video if you want to get a copy of it. They are very strict about this to the point that you're not allowed to take a camera recording of your own videos, in case you want to snap it to your friends or something...

Best surfcamp ever. Stayed there 1 week as a guest in January and came back two months later after travelling in Asia to be a social host volunteer for 1 month. There is a special vibe and atmosphere that I have simply never experienced in a hostel before, you come and you wish you would never leave this amazing place 🫶🏼

Spent 10 days at Elsewhere Surf Camp, Weligama. Can’t say enough good things about this place - the staff, so friendly and welcoming. The surf guides/instructors, everything you want - heaps of experience and always making sure you’re surfing the best wave in the best spot for that day and at the best time of day! Food, 10/10. I stayed in both a private room and a night in the dorm - both really clean, nice a/c, hot water showers and lock boxes. Booking a return trip to Elsewhere Weligama soon 🤙

My friends and I booked two private rooms at Elsewhere in the low season. We were hoping to surf in Weligama and meet new people. We landed at the perfect spot for that. There is a very welcoming atmosphere in the air, the team treats you like kin, with family style meals, and organized fun hangouts. The place offers surfing bundles with tremendous value, solid amenities that are very useful and the facilities are pretty modern and hip. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, thank you team Elsewhere!

It's one of those places that has the magic and attracts the kind of people that you typically want to meet when traveling. This is especially the case for young early-mid 20s people looking for a grand time, as there's a party pretty much every day. If you're more on the grandpa side like me, there's a brand new gym upstairs, a massage room, fantastic breakfast menu and great surf guiding available too. Location is right across the road from the Weligama beach break too in between a couple of really nice cafes/restaurants.

I had an incredible time at Elsewhere Surf Camp! The instructors were knowledgeable and patient, making it a perfect place for beginners like me. The camp's beachfront location offered breathtaking views, and the communal atmosphere was so friendly. The food was delicious, and the accommodations were clean and comfortable. I'll definitely be returning for another surf adventure.

Amazing place! Best surf camp I’ve ever been to. It is really hard to create a family atmosphere alongside a great party vibe but Elsewhere manage it perfectly! Highly recommend for anyone thinking about where to stay in Weligama. The surf package is great value too!

Stayed for one night surf camp and took a beginner surf lesson. Everyone was friendly and had a great time with people from various backgrounds. Great location as it's walking distance from the weligama beach. The surf lesson was great! we had a really good coach called Charith and he was very patient with us when teaching.

We stayed at Elsewhere for 2 weeks in the single dorm and did the surfer package. The best surf lessons ever, thanks Suda you are a darling. Everything was amazing, the staff are like one big happy family, the food was also great, I recommend the avocado toast or the tropical smoothie bowl for breakfast. Mexican night was also my favorite dinner. I met soo many cool people from all over the world, thanks for the yoga sessions coco. I hope to see all you guys again soon. Much love. Julie

I absolutely loved elsewhere, started my trip here doing the surf package for a week and had the best time, made amazing friends had a real family vibe to it there’s always something going on here! Right on the beach perfect location not just for surfing! Great value for money I would definitely recommend and hopefully be back soon

This experience was amazing. I only booked for 3 nights and at the end I extended for 7 nights and at the end of my journey I cane back to spend my last days there. The surf teacher are also very professional and motivate to progress your surf skills. Vibe and parties were amazing! Hope to see you soon again elsewhere 💜✨

You guys are absolutely amazing! No doubt it's one of the best places we've ever been too. My wife and I had a great pleasure to spend 9 days in Elsewhere Surf Camps Sri Lanka in the middle of January 2023. First of all we've been given a huge sea-view room with a cozy balcony. Still can't believe it, but stuff gave us a really good discount - at least you can try your best to ask for it too ;) The ac was working good, the beer was cold, the food was delicious. The coolest surfers of Sri Lanka were giving some great surfing lessons. They even make videos and photos to find out mistakes that beginners usually do. And surely one of the most important thing is people. Absolutely everyone who works here is really kind and good-hearted. Leave your negative vibes at home and prepare yourself to smile and laugh everyday. You will be having pool-parties, tough beer-pong games, soulfull talks, crazy dancing nights, free punch drinks and so on. Thank you Elsewhere for this unforgettable vacation. Wow what can I say? This was the first time in Sri Lanka and the first time learning to surf.I can honestly say with hand on heart, all the staff at Elsewhere where truly amazing,making me feel very welcome as I was stopping on my own.The food and accommodation were outstanding.The surf instructor was very professional and patient as it was my first time surfing and after several attempts got me standing on the board OMG what a feeling .Boom my week is over 🥲.So thank you so much again can’t wait to see you all again next year.

Just came back from this amazing experience. Mark and his team have done everything from transfer, delicious food and perfect surf coaching (in a group of two students and a teacher) to make our stay unforgettable. I had my 30th birthday during our stay which they made sure to be a precious memory. 10/10 would surf here again! On top of that they are super flexible with regards to arrival and departure dates.

The new Elsewhere is so rad.. swimming pool, licenced bar, a few seconds walk to the beach.. Food is delicious and the good vibes are back.. 🙌

Elsewhere is one of the best surf camps you’ll find in Sri Lanka imo! They’ve got everything you need planned for a surf holiday and you’ve got nothing to worry about and just enjoy. When I arrived at Elsewhere I was welcomed like a family member. The surf guides took care of my boards and fixed my dings. I witnessed a monkey feeding, I was given a beer and had my first round of table tennis before I even got to my dorm. It felt like coming home and that was the spirit I enjoyed. This place has vibes, is fun and has a soul... nothing compared to the surf industry camps along the coast. The hosts are awesome. The facilities are not top notch but that's not what matters to me. This place is for real surfers no matter if they are beginners or pros. The tourists go to other places with infinity pool and all- inclusive service. The surf and a neat little beach are right around the corner 5 min walk max. The neighborhood feels like the real Sri Lankan life which you can take in. One of the coolest party locations (famous Tiki Bar) is 6 min walk up the hill with a fantastic view over the bay and a terrific sun rise. Weligama is a short Tuktuk ride down the road. Plenty of grownups surfspots (Fisherman's, Lazy, Ram's, Plantation, Coconut) are in easy reach as well as the beginner's beaches of Weligama. The food is home cooked Sri Lankan and the after surf smoothies are outright delicious. Sophie the camp manager is awesome. She takes care of all your needs and she always has a ear for your inquiries no matter how much she has to take care of. She organizes trips and events to fair prices and helps you to have a wonderful once in a life time experience. I can only recommend all real surfers to become part of the Elsewhere family... I miss you guys...

Elsewhere Surf Camp was so much fun... The whole team made everyone feel relaxed, included and well looked after. If you want to surf they will find you waves for your level of experience. If you want to just relax and have a massage or take a trip they will get you sorted. Highly recommended for anyone that's going to Sri Lanka whether its the 1st time or 5th.

My partner and I spent a week at elsewhere surf camp in Weligama in January and had the funnest week! Not only do they offer fun and engaging surf lessons for all levels, they organise awesome activities and day trips around Weligama. They also provide excellent food recommendations. The group dinners were always different and delicious. Met some great people from all over the world. The surf lessons were fun and noticed a massive improvement. I was a beginner and never felt overwhelmed. Highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka. Would recommend to anyone visiting. Well organised and friendly team. Thanks for the amazing experience. Bucket list!

This place is an absolute Gem! I stayed here while traveling on a short work trip and it was the highlight of my Sri Lanka tour. The people that i met where super friendly relaxed and inviting. The Hostel was clean, spacious and chilled. The surf was only a shorty distance away and offered something for everyone from beginner to advanced. I Can't wait to get back here in March enjoy the surf, sunshine, food, and a few lion lagers.

We had the best experience here with my mate. We are both advanced surfers and we went surfing every day 2-3 times. It has all the spots around it and very good organisation of transport to get to each spot. Everyone is super friendly and helpful and you end up being a big family with the people working there & guests. They do group activities that you can decide to join or you can also do your own thing. Very good to learn how to surf but also if you are an advanced surfer. I would def be back and I def recommend this camp to everyone, couples, friends, solo travels & everyone who is willing to have a good time, relaxing time, surfing time, party time and all sort of times. You can choose your experience here and they make it happen :)

No matter if you are beginner or experienced surfer, Elsewhere is a great place to surf, meet lovely people and simply have fun, chill or whatever you would like doing. Atmosphere is amazing and if you are a beginner (like myself), you should come to this camp to feel a real spirit! As owners live in a camp, it doesn’t feel like you are just a guest for a week! It feels like you are part of a team and people around helping each other with surfing or what have you! Camp has many great things besides that like fun activities, they will show you some nice spots for sunset, make you a company in a bar. They have locally made clothes (always nice to support the people in a country like Sri Lanka). They have yoga teacher and the coolest massage lady I have ever experienced. Guys to make photos and videos of you. I had been injured on second day :( but I still got a photo me actually standing on a board 😂 Local guys from the camp are incredible people who helps you to learn the local culture and make the most of your trip! Food was delicious and made with love for every dietary needs! We had coconuts after surfing and cooling fresh smoothies at a camp! Definitely will see these guys again 💜
