This place is the main place of Kashmir where most activities happen. There you will find many military people and best part is now anyone can put Indian flag over there. Few years back you won’t find flag but now it’s is very well maintained. Now it is the place of shopping for the tourists but according to me it is same as Delhi Sarojini or mumbai hill road all the items are copy and you won’t be able to identify original and duplicate. Market will get close around 6.30 in evening in winters time.

Lal Chowk of Kashmir, Sri nagar is an iconic place of Sri nagar. Its famous for the activities happened in the state. It has a very beautiful location along with a Old Market called Lal Market. Various hotels are there and many old shops are also there. It's a huge market in which you can buy kashmiri stuff and most importantly dry fruits and kesar (zafraan) which is famous in Jammu Kashmir region. Its a high security zone in which many protesters are actively participating the protests.

Ghanta Gar, the iconic clock tower located in the heart of Srinagar, is an absolute must-visit when exploring this beautiful city. As a local guide, I have had the pleasure of witnessing the charm and significance of Ghanta Gar, and it never fails to captivate visitors with its timeless beauty. The Ghanta Gar stands tall, acting as a prominent landmark and a symbol of Srinagar's rich history. Its intricate architectural design and the meticulous craftsmanship that went into its construction are truly awe-inspiring. It serves as a testament to the city's cultural heritage, reflecting the blend of traditional Kashmiri and Islamic architectural influences.

Famous for local market but every item we touched was costlier as compared other local shops which we visited near our hotel. Not recommended unless you don't have flexibility to roam around other local shops. You will easily get 30 to 40% less prices at other local shops compared to ones here for same item. This place was all dug up and not well maintained when I visited here. Didn't even feel like a worthy visit or a tourist spot. Just a chaotic market around it. Anyways have a visit if your interested. πŸ‘ I see it's only worth a selfie when it's lit in night and nothing special around here. Expect traffic jams to reach here if you plan to visit in evening. So plan for other times.πŸ‘

Lal chowk is a market which is equally important for tourist and local, locals come here for their shopping and tourist visit here to have a chit chat with history. If ask any non kashmiri after Dal lake anyplace he would be knowing and watching regularly on TV would be Lal Chowk and it's Clock tower. The tower is illuminated with tricolor in evening which looks majestic so try to visit in evening. The market surrounding the chowk is good ,can check for souvenirs.

The recently renovated clock tower is a splendid testament to the perfect blend of heritage preservation and modernization. Its restoration has breathed new life into this historic Lal chowk, which now stands as a beacon of the past and present. The attention to detail in the restoration is truly commendable. It is the best place where all the items will get you at a very lower price. You found almost all times to survive in Kashmir during the winter days. There you can also find good eatables and dry fruits. It is only on Friday and Sunday. Must visit the place.
