I visited the place in peak tourist season. The Hotel property is very spacious. Location is at the center of the the city. The owner is an excellent guy and always available. Staff is friendly and ready to serve. Rooms spacious and well lit. Some of the rooms in the property are old and not up to the standard of the hotel so have a look of the rooms first before booking. Garden is well maintained. All the excursion can be booked from the hotel itself. Overall a very good experience. Highly recommended for a budget of 4-5K per night.

Overall review of hotel Akbar is fantastic, the location is still good, little bit awkward, rooms are good, staff are nice with their loyalty basis and behaviour. Dining is good. There is a centralised heater system but overall good

Room are average but we had many problem for jain food even my child want khichdi but chef replied very rudely and did nt make for child , very bad experience , u can get better option in that area .

Great location - right in front of Dal lake and good facilities in the hotel, but the best part is the hospitality shown by Zaffer, Dawood, Sadiq and staff. Made us feel very welcome and happy and treated us like family. Organised everything for us in Srinagar and made the experience great. Thank you for everything, would definitely recommend Hotel Akbar!

Dear All, This hotel is situated just next to the DAL lake. Although the big vehicles wont be able reach till the entrance, you just need to walk approximate 50 meter from the road. The room are spacious. The outside garden is beautiful. They have a good quality restaurant. Hospitality was also good. It's situated almost heart of city Srinagar. The minute you step out of the hotel get, you get to see a very nice view of the road of Srinagar, with a backdrop of hills. Sharing the same view for you all. Also must mention, it is very safe.

Stay is good. Ensure heater in room during winters. Food is above average

Rooms are not that great in Srinagar. But the sane Hotel is good in Sonmarg

Well behaved manegement. Location is good. Rooms are clean, washrooms are clean but hot water availability is for limited time.

Returned today after a full week stay in Srinagar in Hotel Akbar....what a location...beautiful view...most hospitable Zaffer sahib , Dawood bhai and all other staff ,including kitchen staff ,housekeeping staff were so polite and helpful and courteous...clean rooms, toilets etc...hope to visit Kashmir in the future and stay there again and hope to get a stay in their houseboat also...thanks to all of them for making our stay memorable...

I want to take a moment to thank Zaffer Sahab, Dawood Bhai and Sadiq Bhai for your kind hospitality. Our stay at Hotel Akbar was a second home, all our requirements were handled with extreme care. Special thanks to Sadiq for offering the personal car and efforts for emergency. We still relish the taste of wonderful kababs which were home made for us. We witnessed various seasons in these 10 days, had an awesome experience which wouldn’t have been possible without the generous efforts of the entire team. The driver Abid was a wonderful guide to us, he offered all kinds of support which was required. Last but not the least, Zubair and Musharraf at hotel Akbar, Fayaz at houseboat were great hosts in offering food and taking special care. Not to forget the hotel at Sonamarg was also a splendid experience. We would definitely visit Kashmir again inshallah !!

Stayed in this hotel for about a week. Room was okay not bad not too good. Little bit dust over the surfaces. Bathroom was of good size. Positive - location, owner was helpful Negatives - poor wifi connection, hot water was not available throughout the day even during chilling cold winter days

Stayed here for two nights. Very good rooms, Polite hotel staff and good food. Bathrooms were clean and so also the rooms. Well maintained. In the rooms, they have provisions for making tea / coffee, they provided tea / coffee maker along with tea, coffee, sugar, milk sachets. Hot water in the bathroom starts around 6 AM.. It is two storied building with about 15 steps for each floor. Didn't find elevator so if you have elderly people who cannot take the steps, ask for room on the ground floor. This hotel is adjacent to the famous Dal Lake. One can take shikara ride from the designated location of Dal Lake and you can get dropped in front of this hotel, so you don't have to make special arrangement for getting back to this hotel after the ride. Didn't find parking space for vehicles, not sure if they have it elsewhere. I didn't take my vehicle so didn't find the need for it. There is a mosque right next to this hotel and one more near by, so at ~4:15 AM, there is Ajaan from these two mosques. If you are not used to it, then it does cause some disturbance when you are asleep. It goes all the way until ~4:45 AM.
