This is a open place for anybody to visit. Nowadays it's more like a road rather than a historical monument. Most people just kind of ignore it.

This darwaza is the prime entrence to the Hariparbat fort and Makhdoom Sahib*shrine, if one is coming from hawal-gandarbal road. Just next to the kati darwaza is the hub of famous Tibetan restaurants... Who are always there to serve woitu love... The Darwaza has been renovated last year as per National heritage guidelines on role...

Sangeen Darwaza is one of the historically crucial gates of the Hari Parbat Palace. Constructed in the Mughal Empire by Akbar, it is one of the two surviving gates along with Kathi Darwaza. The gate is face-to-face with the Maqdoom Shrine and leads to multiple crucial locations like the Sharika Temple, Badamwari Bagh, etc. you can enter through the Sangeen Darwaza and explore the Hari Parbat Fort, then return to also witness the Kathi Darwaza. The Sangeen Darwaza is placed in a Tibetan locality, so tourists can also enjoy the local delicacies like momos, laphing, etc. The initial structure of this gate included some rooms to offer villagers and other outsiders accommodation and protection.

Sangeen darwaza clothing is really beautiful. The shop presentation is lovely. The staff could be a bit more helpful. They don’t check to see if you need help while in the change room so you have to walk out yourself to find other sizes. They just fix the racks up and chat amounts themselves. If shop assistants were like that back home in Australia where I live they would probably lose their jobs. Anyway, the clothing is why I went there and it didn’t disappoint.

It is a heritage site. Emperor Akbar provided funds for construction of boundary wall aound the hill hari parbat to settle residents of city inside this fortification. This gate faces the shrine of Maqdoom sahib. Though the gate is not in the best of the conditions, needs lot of repairs to preserve this heritage site. Around this gate you can find the market of Tibetan food, including the famous momos.

Sangin Darwaza is one of the two entrances to the Hari Parbat Fort, which is an ancient citadel belonging to the Mughal era in Kashmir. Built of stone, this arched gate stands as a reminiscent of the valley's royal past. The imposing entrance, constructed in Mughal architectural style, impresses every visitor. In contrary to the Kathi Darwaza – the first gate of the fort, this one does not feature Persian inscriptions on its high ceiling and walls.
