One of the most serene places to be in. We had gone in Nov, and so the trees were in full "bloom".. Worth spending some time on the island. This is one of the 2 islands in Dal Lake. Also called Rop lank or silver Island. One has a beautiful view of the Dal lake from here. This Island originally had 4 Chinar trees from where it derives it name. One of the Chinar trees had fallen and 3 remained. A new Chinar tree had been planted in the recent years hence is smaller than the rest.

A small island inside Dal Lake, a must visit. Beautiful views of mountains. You need to hire Shikara to reach here, other boat options also available.

Char Chinar, nestled within the picturesque Dal Lake in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, is truly a mesmerizing sight to behold. This cluster of four majestic Chinar trees emerging from the waters adds an ethereal touch to the already stunning landscape. The tranquility of the surroundings, combined with the soothing ripples of the lake, creates a serene ambiance that's perfect for a relaxing boat ride. The Chinar trees themselves hold historical significance, as they've stood witness to the changing times and have become an integral part of the region's cultural identity. Visiting Char Chinar allows you to experience the unique blend of nature's beauty and cultural heritage. The way the sunlight filters through the leaves, casting dancing shadows on the water's surface, is a sight that truly enchants the soul. Whether you're an avid photographer seeking the perfect shot or simply a nature enthusiast craving a moment of solitude, Char Chinar offers an unparalleled experience. However, it's important to note that the beauty of this spot also attracts tourists, so the tranquility can sometimes be disrupted by the bustling activity of visitors and boat vendors. To fully appreciate the charm of Char Chinar, it's advisable to plan your visit during quieter hours. In conclusion, Char Chinar in Dal Lake is a must-visit destination that encapsulates the essence of Kashmir's natural beauty and cultural heritage. It's a place where time seems to slow down, allowing you to reconnect with nature and soak in the serenity that surrounds you.

Char Chinar is a small island in Dal Lake, Srinagar, having four ancient, old Chinar trees, hence the name Char Chinar. One of the most visited places using a Shikara, the famous passenger boat, inside the Dal Lake. Unfortunately the last major flood, in 2014, has destroyed the ancient, more than 300 years old Chinar trees. New trees have now been planted by the horticulture department and utmost care is being taken for its growth. Our visit was towards the end of winter, early spring so most of the trees were barren without the famous Chinar leaves.

Char Chinar is an island in the Dal Lake of Srinagar, surrounded by the Chinar trees on all four sides of it. Also known as Char Chinari (char chinari means four sides) and Rupa Lank, it was constructed by Murad Baksh, the brother of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. It is beautiful place to bring your family and kids to enjoy the beauty of the lake.

A beautiful Char Chinar island in the middle of the famed Dal Lake, Srinagar. We negotiated a package with Shikara to cover this place along with other locations. It was very busy with tourists in the morning when we visited. You can get tea, light snacks sold in Shikaras. Don’t miss the Kahwa tea here. A unique restoration project of the Chinar trees is happening on the island. Chinar tree has found home in J&K and is it’s State Tree. It has lovely maple-like leaves and turns into flame orange and red color in Autumn. A nice place to take pictures for your DP! A memorable incident was seeing a group of elderly group of people holding hands and singing “deewana hua baadal” filmed on Dal Lake!

It has a history attached to it. These 4 Chinars were the first Chinar trees that were planted in Kashmir! It's in the middle of the Dal lake. You first need to reach at the Ghat No 23 and from there you can get a Shikara Ride which may cost starting from 500 Rs minimum. Among the four only a big one is present from the history. Rest have been replanted and hence small. One can also do speed boat and jetski rides here. Good experience.

A small island inside the Dal Jheel. The name Char Chinar was originally given to this place as it had four Chinar Trees on the island. It is being managed by the tourism department and is well maintained. Take a Shikara ride to reach this place and enjoy the evening view from here.

It is basically a spot in dal lake which has 4 trees of Chinar hence the name char chinar. If you are going for shikara ride then they will show this place in your ride. Chinar trees are known for its coolness. If you sit under that tree, then you will feel like an air conditioned. Must visit if you are riding dal lake.

It is an urban lake in Srinagar, the second largest lake in Jammu and Kashmir, and the most visited place in Srinagar by tourists. Miracle place where nature and art get together. The size is impressive and hosts water market, boat houses, old villas from colonial times and even floating market. Over 15km around, Dal Lake is Srinagar's jewel, a vast sheet of water reflecting the carved wooden balconies of the houseboats and the misty peaks of the mountains. Throughout the year its crowded.

Great natural lake. Bad maintenance, no standard rates by Shikara operators. Go in Evening . They take u for 1 hour , pay around 100 to 125 per person. Take some eatables and water in reusable water bottle. Don't leave plastic there. Take pictures from all four corners.

Shikara ride of full tour including 8 points charging 4000rs. They will ride nehru park and Meena baazar also. Every Shops on boat will come to you like fruits, gift article, jwellery, stoll, photography etc. We will never be alone. The person riding give you all details of dal lake. Total we spent 3 hrs. Don't take motor boat as it is noisy and not enjoyable. All things are costly, you have to bargain in everything.

During my visit to Dal Lake, I decided to take a Shikara ride to Char Chinar, and I must say, the experience was a bit underwhelming. The ride itself cost around 1500rs, which seemed a bit steep considering the limited time spent on the island. The Shikara I rode was a motorized one, so the traditional charm of gliding through the waters was somewhat lost. Once we reached Char Chinar, I found that the island was quite small and lacked the wow factor I was expecting. The view was pleasant, but not as extraordinary as I had hoped. Unfortunately, the allotted time for exploration was only about 15-20 minutes, which felt rushed and left me wanting more. If you're considering visiting Char Chinar, I would suggest keeping your expectations in check. It's important to note that this sightpoint cannot be easily combined with other sightseeing spots. While the overall experience was decent, I would recommend exploring other attractions in Dal Lake that offer a more comprehensive and fulfilling experience.
