This hospital is one of the oldest health institutions in J&K which provides general and specialist care to ailing people. However, the hospital doesn't have the proper facility for attendants like attendent sheds, common rooms, rest rooms, parks and vehicle parking.

Butchers in worlds noblest uniform... This hospital is named after Maharaja Hari Singh, lies in the heart of Srinagar which was established in 1948. People says that doctors here are well professionals and well experienced but unfortunately I could not find so. I wish there was a zero star so I could give to this hospital...

Hospital infrastructure is OK, but the operations and doctors communication with patients are worst. Also the way nurse handles patient is like, patient has to do all the work, and nurse just guides. When this world of healthcare will improve in India.

It is good option for people to visit and have treatment especially to those who can't afford to visit private hospitals which charge too much. What irritates us a lot is to wait for long time in long queues which are straight or of zig zag shape. The manpower should be fast that patients are handled quickly. Same is situation in opd and casualty that patients are sticking doctors around. Doctors feel confused who to treat first. As we know COVID-19 is still among us and it haven't yet spared us. Social distancing is totally neglected and people don't wear masks. Very less could be seen wearing masks when asked to wear it. Something which agitated me a lot when i recently visited there is those who are keeping vigil at patients or attendents vehicles are selling masks too. Though it is not wrong but i felt is wrong is they sell disposable masks per piece at rupees 10 which is injustice. Irony is there is no one to ask them what they do. And crowd also makes us feel worried. People don't care for maintaining calm and discipline. On every monday people from almost every district visit there which includes baramulla ganderbal anantnag shopian etc. It is ok to visit there but it seems strange if anyone visits there for any minor issue which can be easily treated at any respective district hospital. I have seen many visit there for very small burn injuries. Many people visit visit along with a single patient. Sometimes each patient is having almost four to seven persons with him. It should be avoided.

Like other government hospitals it also showed some similarities, ward space is not good enough for patients to maintain social distancing, infrastructure needs to be renovated, staff members are working really hard, using golden card makes your treatment efficient and cheap.

Shri Maharaja Hari Singh, commonly known as SMHS Hospital or Hedwun Hospital, is the multi-speciality state-owned hospital in Karan Nagar area of Srinagar. The land to hospital was donated by one Austrian merchant CM Hadow, who came to Kashmir during reign of Ranbir Singh. He donated this land on the request of Viceroy of India, Lord Marquess Linlithgow, for the construction of first state hospital, which was later inaugurated by Lord Wavell in 1945. It is because of CM Hadow that the hospital is still known as Hedwun.

Regarded as one of the best healthcare providers, SMHS, Karan Nagar has been providing remarkable services since its inception. Isolation wards with adequate medical facilities have been installed. But still there is a need for betterment. Some efforts need to be made to provide a top-notch service.

It's a very crowded place if you are visiting for the first time you never know where you have to go and whom to meet, when and where doctors are available. emergency services of doctors are available or not. Cleaning and maintenance of the whole building should also be required The infrastructure of the hospital should be better.

You need to have luck on the day of your visit to this hospital! For a common man: Your struggle will start with managing to get a ticket early in morning! Your Competitors have started as early as 8am!Few have stayed overnight for getting ticket on time! Of what good, even if you finally managed a ticket! The Next Queue is waiting! Outside the doctor's room; if you don't give up on being a struggler! You will have an appointment! Now comes your luck into play: that doctor you had wished for! Your checklist summary: A kind doctor who talks softly healing the broken heart and calming the tense mind! As the wrist is held and pulse checked, the thing is diagnosed! Diet is modified and the disease is treated! This dream you will have on waiting seat inside doctor's room just before your turn! Now time constrain will have you whole! The doctor has to visit the ward for sick patients and you don't have any baseline investigations (Tests) done since years! Trapped! Now you go for the next queue! First for the fee for inv.(tests)! Done with this, move to blood being drawn! BLoooood...it takes time! What you got now as afternoon gradually turns into evening is the Receipt of tests! After this you can be seen fighting the system or broken and asking God for help! But if you are lucky enough, you get the test reports by now! Rushing to the room, you find the same doctor who will confirm the diagnosis! Counsel you and educate about your disease, treatment options, follow up etc.But if you need to be admitted: Discuss your case with the team! Shift you to ward! In short stay you will be discharged in a day and will be altogether fine while surrounded by no less than a dozen relatives who will be more happy and joyful over the victory! Few of them will try their best to prolong your admission in hospital by asking," lagaan cheya, na chae che ne pata...chae che lagaan !Mai che syoud basan chae che dagg"Doctor saeb ye thaewunn taam admiti, beyi laeg waez glucose bottle 5-10" If you are to be further evaluated and shifted to full stay ward, then you will need luck by your side again! Yes again and again! Broken enough, God might have mercy on you and everything might go smoothly...a week or so and you will continue on your routine with a discharge sheet detailing all your medical history excluding the struggles you and your attendants had all this time! WHAT ABOUT THOSE WHO HAVE NOT BEEN LUCKY ENOUGH,A WHOLE book that would be, my dear! Hopefully,in future things will ease further as robots take over! Well this is definitely a sarcasm to end with! P.S: Doctors notice all your struggles and try their best to ease your suffering with all the limited resources! We feel your pain! It maybe that sometimes in the busy schedule that is beyond the human physiological limit, the behaviour might seem aversive but deep down it's all LOVE! The LOVE that helps to go beyond human limits,to be awake through nights, to be without rest for days, to be without food in emergency duties, to be in an all out war to SAVE the humanity,to HEAL the wounded souls! From baby's first cry to old soul having his last breath: We see it all!

It was my first visit but if there would have been zero star option I would have chose that, the doctor was terrible, she didn't even said a word during examing me! and the looks she was giving 🀷she just prescribed medicines which took her 2secs and that was all the session. Quite disappointed!
