A Grade I listed belfry, constructed around 1400, and claimed to be the only remaining medieval town belfry in England. The Clock Tower is about 20m high, having five floors, including the roof. Each floor is slightly narrower than the previous, as you can discover by climbing the 93-step narrow spiral staircase. A lovely view of the Cathedral can be had from the top - also the colourful market stalls on Wednesdays and Saturdays - all for a nominal fee. Beware though, the staircase becomes increasingly narrow - and I’m fairly slim!

After St. Albans Cathedral, this tower is probably the most iconic historic building of the city, build in early 15th century. The building is categorised as grade 1 (most important grade of historical buildings in England). Other buildings around also tell about the french history of the place. Really awesome to visit.

The Clock Tower sits in the heart of medieval St Albans, it overlooks the cobbled narrow lanes of the Cathedral City and gives a glimpse in time to 14th Century St Albans. The tower constructed in the early 15th Century once rang its six hundred year old bell every hour until the mid 19th Century. The Clock Tower is open to the public from late spring until mid Autumn. It’s a monument to the people who lived in St Albans it embodies its history as a thriving City and heart of the region, It’s a must visit for anyone visiting St Albans.

Lovely views at the top and really interesting history. There are 93 steps that are quite steep and narrow... however you can stop at each floor to read history or to let people pass up/down. The volunteers were very informative and fun, would definitely recommend.

Whilst closed when I visited, the Clock Tower is worth a visit. It was nearby that Queen Eleanor rested prior to her post mortem return to London. Charing Cross London being the penultimate stop before Westminster Abbey.

Cost around £3 if I remember correctly. Worth a visit, nice view from the top. Staff was friendly, we told the lady we were Chinese and we had an interesting chat about her visit to China almost twenty years ago!

A symbol of civic pride. St Albans' Clock Tower is the only surviving medieval town belfry in England

A lovely old flint faced clock tower in the centre of the city. Very unassuming and seemingly ignored by the locals, but we stopped to admire it. With a baby in tow we didn't go inside and climb the steps for the view sadly. Nice and informative plaques on the outside explain its history.

The clock tower has a lot of history. You cannot go up there. There’s no much to do.

Great little courtyard where we ate some delicious papa paella Each market day Saturday there is some great street food. So we sit there and share some yum yums with the boys. The clock tower is a nice jolly. I wouldn't go in lots and lots. But for £2 it's worth a cultural wander and a view. That part of St albans is stacked with history with King John of France once being held in the pub opposite the clock tower in the Fleur de Lys, no aptly called The Snug

It is quite cramped and narrow inside and you have to leave bags at the security desk, but the views are good.
