I was asked to explain, why I gave only one star. So here it is: We we're at Yates with three people. Before getting our meals we saw them cleaning the floor using dirty water. It was nearly black and smelled like old beer. Then I got my burger that was OK, like 3 or 4 stars. My friend got some chicken with chips, that we did not order. We did not complain, thinking the mistake could have been caused by us. After eating the first piece of chicken that tasted old somehow my friend had to vomit. After that my other friend did not ask for his meal anymore...

Brief visit to this watering hole. Fancied drink and needed loo! When ordering drink was served by two members of staff...one poured drink...other took money...a little strange! Regrettably an overpowering smell of fish... suspect smell originated from dishes not cleared from nearby table. Mentioned I needed loo ..little did I realise that facilities whilst clean...were up a substantial number of stairs... something both my wife and I found difficult. Final comment...dislike seeing posters encouraging customers to rate pub well on social media...but perhaps I'm a little old fashioned!

I recently decided to visit this fine establishment after the spectacular review from the band Imagine Dragons. To say that I wasnโ€™t disappointed is an understatement. Atmosphere spot-on service spot-on food spot-on. Me and the staff spoke about our favourite Imagine Dragons songs all night long. Safe to say ITS TIME you all visited

Family of 2 adults and 2 young kids over 20s, had lots of drinks and music vibe was really good. Music and good beer made stay for more then we thought when we got there. Lydia pulled one pint after another like a pro and every different beer had their own glass. ๐Ÿป ๐Ÿ‘

Extremely rude and unpolite staff. Food was disgusting, salad was not fresh, chips were soggy, mac and cheese looks like from the microwave. Never coming again

I wanted to grab lunch with a couple of friends. When the coke got spilled the service wiped it off with dirty and smelly water. We didn't get what we wanted to eat in the first place but we didn't complain because we didn't want to be rude. Than I had chicken with chips. The chicken wasn't good so I threw up almost straight after eating a bit of it. Too bad I can't recommend this place at all.

I was in around the festive season. The music was awful. Some niche sound, where the DJ playing clearly thought he was playing to his mates in his front room. The DJ was terribly rude to one of my friends when they asked him a question. When I complained to the manager about how rude and aggressive he was, she told me it was out of her hands, and to write a bad review. So, here I am. There was a really nice young (potentially camp โ€“ not sure how to describe them) he/them behind the bar, that was very friendly and helpful. The DJ was ... I want to say maybe a Nigerian man, in his 50s.He wears glasses and has a beard. He really brought bad energy and it was Christmas. He was litterally shouting at us when he was in the background of one of our photos, clearly he had something to hide. I just thought it was interesting how protected by the management staff he was, considering he was being so unreasonable. Even the security were rolling their eyes at him. I did not feel listened to or respected. I've worked on many late night bars, and I understand the difficulty of dealing with challenging drunk customers, but I was not one of them. I don't drink. I've never expected much from Yates, but I was very disappointed by the way the managing staff handled the situation, considering my respectful group of friends were the few people in there that night and we spent a lot of money. I would never go back again, and for so many other reasons, I'd advise you: DON'T BOTHER. Weatherspoons, The Crypt, Bat & Bee are all far more lively, friendly and fun places to have a night out in Hastings, all in a 30 second radius.

Holy cow the years have not been kind to this place, standards always used to be fairly high. Food is cheap yes, good no! I'm sorry but if you order a SF chicken sub with melted cheese then it might be helpful if the food was hot enough to actually melt said cheese. The side order of pigs in blankets that were ordered arrived barely cooked at all. The young chap serving behind the bar today was very helpful, the other staff members seemed to spend most of their time stomping about pulling faces like they'd just gotten detention. With so many other food outlets in such close proximity it beggars the question why standards have been allowed to fall so low.

Had to eat here at as a family member birthday. Would never choose to. Food gross very unappealing had the Giant pigs in blankets with โ€œso nastyโ€ smash mash eww Which they forgot. Other people in group had dessert which served cold. That was returned to the kitchen. Staff was starting to sound stropy. Again they forgot mine. So I just got my money back. Toilet a result of many drunken evenings most doors are smashed in and donโ€™t lock. Tables are sticky just felt dirty So Food= -0 Service = 0 Donโ€™t understand why they booked to eat here honestly
