The
last
time
I
visited
this
place
was
about
five
years
ago.
It
was
good,
not
excellent,
but
still
a
reliable
option
for
dumplings.
I
know
this
place
is
an
institution
in
Chinatown.
During
my
childhood,
there
were
limited
options
for
good
and
authentic
Chinese
food.
However,
my
recent
experience
was
extremely
disappointing.
The
Shanghai
fried
noodles
were
oddly
too
sweet,
and
the
fried
dumplings
were
soggy
rather
than
crispy.
The
boiled
dumplings
were
the
worst;
the
wrapper
tasted
old
and
frozen,
and
the
filling
tasted
strange
and
bland.
I
feel
like
the
food
is
catered
to
non-Asians.
The
service
was
pretty
terrible.
The
younger
man
was
a
bit
rude,
but
the
older
gentleman
(maybe
the
owner)
was
much
more
pleasant.
The
restaurant
also
had
a
peculiar
wet
basement
smell,
which
I
could
have
ignored
if
the
food
was
worth
it.
I'm
not
sure
if
my
taste
buds
have
changed
with
all
the
better
Chinese
food
options
now
available,
especially
in
the
Markham/Scarborough
region,
or
if
Dumpling
House
has
truly
gone
downhill.
If
you're
looking
for
nostalgia,
you
might
visit,
but
you'll
probably
leave
disappointed
with
the
food.
