It's cool to see. I don't know that I'd need to do it more than once. Buy tickets in advance. You can also check the website around 900a and see if they are any available tickets. I checked and got a ticket for the same day. You have to go through security as it's a national landmark. They have a museum area after that and other setups to learn about the arch and its history, there is a gift shop and cafe inside. Line up at your time... there aren't many people lining up until about 4-5 min prior to the scheduled time. You stand in line for a while before you get to go back. There really isn't a benefit because you get assigned a group 1 through 9. You sit with your group in the pod up and down...maximum of 5 people

Super cool experience! The pods in the tram are tiny but we got to ride in one ourselves, so nice to not have to sit in one with strangers. The door is glass which is awesome as you can view what the inside of the Arch looks like on your ride up and down. 4 min up, 3 min down. Husband is claustrophobic but was OK on the ride! Time at the top is short but plenty of time to take pictures of just look and enjoy the view. Our group was only about 11 people total so not crowded at the windows at all. The museum is interesting with lots to read. Cafe was expensive but food was OK. Tour guide for the tram was upbeat and friendly. The Arch was definitely the highlight to our trip to St.Louis! And the small state park surrounding the structure was nice as well.

I had never really wanted to visit the Arch but I thought I'd give it a go and I was pleasantly surprised. A beautiful museum to see before you have to purchase anything at all. Definitely go to the top of the arch. Amazing views. And if you get there at noon you can see the shadow perfect between the two legs of the Arch!!!

What a cool experience! Highly recommend making a plan to visit the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. Make sure you buy tickets in advance. The earlier in the day, the better. It gets busy and sells out. The tour to the top was awesome. If you’re claustrophobic, this isn’t for you. The pods are small and fit 5 tiny people. The ride to the top is 4 minutes long, back down is 3 minutes and they give you about 10 minutes at the top. The views are insane. You can see the Mississippi River on one side, and Downtown STL on the West. You can even see Busch Stadium! The grounds aren’t huge but give yourself time to go through the self guided tour. You’ll also want to walk around the outside. Lots of photo opportunities as well! All in all, very cool place! Definitely check it out!

Wonderful experience. The views were terrific and the museum informative. The inside of the tram was tight, but an enjoyable ride. The gift shop has many options for souvenirs. Its just cool. Thats really the bottom line. Its the signature thing to do in St. Louis, it almost define the city itself! Its a must do. Jaw-dropping brilliant feet of engineering .From the thrilling views from the top of arc to the bottom and amazing stories, a visit to the Gateway Arch is an experience that never fails to inspire. From the thrilling views to the amazing stories, a visit to the Gateway Arch is an experience that never fails to inspire. Whether you have a few hours or a full day, you’ll find activities to please every member of your party. Attractions include the Tram Ride to the Top of the Gateway Arch, the Museum at the Gateway Arch (opened July 3, 2018), a documentary film about the construction of the Arch, shopping at The Arch Store, a new Arch Cafe, and cruises aboard the Riverboats at the Gateway Arch. Tickets sell out early and often - advance purchase strongly recommended. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

This is one of my favorite place to visit. It always amazes me with its beautiful and unique architecture. We could go up the arch. Better if you buy tickets in advance online. You need to go through the security check. There could be line depending on the crowd and time of the day. However queue passes fast. There is a museum after you pass through security, which is beautiful. You could enter either of north or south entrance to take tram to top of arch. They also got a decent cafeteria inside if you are hungry. I recommend one should take this tour and go top of arch. It never fails to amaze you. I love going to St. Louis because of this Gateway arch.

While I disagree with its designation as a 'National Park,' there's no denying the arch is an architectural wonder. We really enjoyed the park and the ride to the top was thrilling. My 4 yr old is still talking about what a fun trip it was. Highly recommend.

One of the best places to visit in St.Louis, MO. The arch towers much taller and bigger in reality than it looks in pictures. It is 630 feet tall. The tram ride to the top is a one-of-a-kind unique experience. The gateway arch museum is clean, well designed, and informative. The whole experience is surely worth the $19 entrance fee.

So amazing up close! Viewing the arch on TV or pictures is fine, but seeing it in person is seriously breathtaking! Once we finished viewing the Arch and taking numerous pictures, we saw there was an underground building inside the Arch. In the building, you can purchase tickets to take a ride in the Arch, watch a documentary movie, or tickets for the Riverboat. There is also a museum (FREE), a gift shop, and a restaurant. We toured the museum and I must say, we were very impressed and couldn't believe it was free! There were multiple pictures, sculptures, interactive stations, and large screens showing the history of St. Louis and the history of the Arch. Great visit! Wonderful inside and out! 😄

Well done National Park Service! I bought tickets online about a month ahead of time. I was able to have the tickets on my phone. We arrived about 30 to 45 minutes ahead of our tour time to allow for the security check. At the appointed time we were directed through the tour. The tour guides were courteous and very helpful answering questions. The views from the top are spectacular and for me, well worth the price of admission. The ride up and down is a little bumpy and the pod is a little claustrophobic, but should be no problem for most people. There is a historical museum after entry and before or after the tour that is worth a walk through. There is a concession stand of sorts as well as a souvenir shop. Overall, a great experience!

Seeing the Gateway Arch up close and personal on the outside is cool, but, if you're not claustrophobic or afraid of heights, I'd highly recommend you go up on the tram. Your guide will give you a brief history of the monument and lead you to your tram that will take you to the top. Definitely worth it. Very cool views and it's a fun thing to say that you did🙂 Tips: 1) Buy your tickets online ahead of time. You need to reserve a time slot to go on the tram and times can fill up fast during peak times. I booked three weeks in advance and about half the slots were already filled. It doesn't matter whether you take the North or South tram. They both take you to the top of the arch. 2) You only get 10 min when you get to the top so make the most of it. 3) The video in the Tucker Theater about the building of the arch was interesting. It's not very expensive and I thought it was worth it. Not super engaging for young kids (<6 years old) but it was neat to see the process of how it was built and all the engineering that went behind it. Buy your tickets ahead of time if you decide to go. The video lasts about 25-30 minutes. 4) There is a lot of parking nearby in different lot. I used ParkWhiz and got parking ahead of time cheaper than just pulling into a garage or lot.

On a random Tuesday, crowd traffic was low and it was a quick trip up to the top of the arch. I was surprised by the small size of the observation windows. Nevertheless, it was easy to view all the sights in the allotted time. The guides worked hard to be pleasant and welcoming.

Gateway to the west! Such a beautiful park. Well maintained the grounds felt safe spacious and comfortable. Bring your pet and children it’s a place the family will all enjoy. They have river boat rides dining experiences and of course you can go to the top of the arch but I’m pretty sure no pets are allowed to the top of the arches but call to be sure because I’m just guessing myself. But don’t drive by stop, you won’t regret it. The parking was not a problem. Many options.

Great place to walk, run and understand the history of the place. The museum is open to all FREE OF COST. The museum depicts a historic timeline approach from the 1700s all the way to how arch was formed. There is cafe and gift shop located inside. The cafe has some great coffee and snacks. Overall a great experience. Recommended Visit.

A very cool place to visit! If you're nervous about heights, stairs, small spaces, or elevators... don't be. It's really nothing to worry about like you think it would be. I was very nervous but it was totally fine. It's about 3 minutes to the top and 3 minutes back down. The sightseeing room at the top feels like an airplane with no seats. The elevators to the top feel more like pods on a spaceship than normal elevators. The museum is interesting and has some cool memorabilia. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Be prepared for TONS of walking! I think from the time I parked my car to the time I got back to my car was less than 2 hours. In case you're wondering how long this entire adventure will take you.

Wonderful experience! It was cool driving through town and seeing the arch get bigger and bigger as we got closer. Then to be standing under it was amazing. The view from the top and museum were fabulous. The tram ride was faster than expected. We’ll worth the time and Money!

Great experience! Great views! Caution: it does swap at the top so don't freak out when it does. I am terrified of heights, but it actually wasn't too bad, just had to shut my eyes on the tram portion. Museum is nice too, expect to spend 30 min there as well

This was a great experience! The museum was phenomenal and free. The exhibits provided a lot of great history. The building was big and was a nice change of temperature from the outside heat. The tram ride was great. We really enjoyed taking pictures from the top of the arch. The gift store had a lot interesting things to purchase. There is even a cafe on site.

We traveled from Western NY to visit the Arch. As a social studies teacher, I was ultra impressed with the FREE museum inside. I loved how it told the story chronologically and had real artifacts, short videos, and well done displays. I wish I had more time to read everything. My younger children did enjoy the museum but were not as interested as I was at reading everything. We were able to visit some of the museum before our Tram to the top and the left hand side after our tram ride. The TRAM ride was great, if you are uncomfortable in small spaces, it may be difficult for you. It was just my two kids and myself inside our tram car so it was not too bad. When we reached the top, we were able to take some photos and look out the windows. I did feel rushed, we were up there less than 10 minutes and had to leave for the next group. We did also watch the video in the theatre. Looking back, I would have watched the video before my tram ride, I think my kids would have appreciated being on top more if we had. The video is a little dated, but the information in the video is great. We also ate at the snack bar for lunch, the food was good, a little pricey but that is to be expected. All the workers were super friendly. I loved the gift shop, I felt there was a wide variety of souvenirs to pick from. We did purchase our tickets weeks before our trip.

I visited here last week. As a national park it’s definitely ranked at the bottom when it comes to national parks. Looks like the area is a national park for tourism and commercialization purposes. There are plenty of beautiful natural areas in Missouri that deserve national park status instead of the gateway arch. The gateway arch should go back to being called the national memorial instead of a national park. Parking is near the Busch Stadium downtown, highly recommend booking in advance. As a tourist attraction, It’s definitely fun. I had more fun here than I originally thought. The museum is informative about the history of St. Louis as well as the history of the gateway Arch. Took the tram ride to the top too, you get a view of St. Louis looking west and looking east you get a view of Illinois and the Mississippi River. If you want to go just to see all that national parks in America, you might consider skipping it as there isn’t any scenery and or natural wonders here like you would at Yellowstone, Yosemite or the Grand Canyon. If you’re wanting to check it out to see all the famous landmarks and structures in America then it’s definitely worth it. I got 4 national parks down, 59 more to go! 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Not much too say, its a great looking piece of architecture. The tram to the top is worth the trip up. One big flag is if you dont do well in small places than the tram up will be very claustrophobic experience for you. The top is great, Id suspect on a bright and sunny day the view is amazing. Even overcast it was still a good experience.

The Gateway Arch is an amazing work of engineering and design. The tour was good but the narrator spoke so fast I could only understand bits and pieces of the story. The ride to the top was awesome and the view was incredible. They really could use an updated version of the videos though. I felt like I was sitting in an elementary classroom watching an old documentary. Not a good feeling. The parking was much to far from the entrance and the signs were poorly placed. I have bad knees and back. I park with a handicap tag but could not find the parking for handicap. The parking cost was too expensive as well. If you fix a few things mentioned you could easily reach a five star rating. All that said, I do recommend this business. It is worth seeing.

I recently went on an adventure to St. Louis where we had the opportunity to visit the Gateway Arch. This grand stainless steel monument, completed in 1965, stands at an impressive height of 630 feet and is an iconic representation of mid-century modern design that symbolizes our national identity. During our visit, we managed to capture some incredible shots of the arch, from the outside, the observation platform, and even from inside the underground museum. Lastly, a depiction of the tiny barrel that takes you to the top really is, which was a little amusing considering the grandeur of the arch. The museum was a pleasant surprise, as it was filled with fascinating information on the Native Americans who were impacted by St. Louis's role in westward expansion. We were impressed with the care and polish used in the presentation of the past, which helped make it a memorable and educational experience. Overall, our adventure to the Gateway Arch was an absolute blast. It's no wonder that it's a must-see attraction in St. Louis, and we highly recommend it to anyone.

Absolutely breath taking, from the time you enter the city until you leave the park. First time visiting the arch and I have to say it was stunning. The journey to the top was amazing. After the tour we went to the movie and then on the boat tour. What a great vacation destination. The history in this city is amazing and so inspiring.

The arch is phenomenal, I had the bright idea to say let’s go and at first my fear of heights almost made me change my mind. I am really glad I did not, as it is a great experience. The museum is really cool itself but the pod ride to the top is where it is at. 630 feet of up up and away. The 4 minute ride to the top seems like 1 minute. The ride down is only 3 minutes but seems way faster. The observation windows allow you to see a bit more than straight down which is a really cool feeling. The whole city is visible from the top. There give you all the information you would ever want to know about the arch before the ride up. The experience was amazing and I would do it again when I am in the area. They have a cafe and a gift shop as well. It’s a definite stop, you won’t regret it.

The arch itself is very iconic. It is even more remarkable than you can imagine up close. On a bright day the sun just shimmers off of it. The grounds are remarkable. It is really an excellent piece of architecture and worth the sight seeing stop. It should not have been designated as a National Park.

The 4 minute ride to the top e eruone talks about as scary, but for me ... I was worked up some about all the reviews but going up was fine for me. There's a little window to view the technology of how it all works. The top was absolutely amazing! Views were stunning! Make sure you look fir the arches shadow! I found that amazing.

Park employees are very nice. Did not have much time and went directly up. No lines or anything as it was mid day on school day. View towards IL is kind of spooky, industrial, overall looks great for January. Trip up and down with the “elevator” was the most exciting part of our visit :)

A must-see while in St. Louis. Amazing views up top and back down on the renovated grounds (since we here last in 2008) all the around. They did a really good job on the museum as well, so much so that both are young kids were also very interested in all the exhibits. Great sights, an amazing structure, go alone or with the family, and take it all in. Jan 2022

I highly recommend purchasing tickets online in advance for your visit to the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. Once you arrive at the arch, head towards the museum entrance via the ramps leading down. Descend the escalators to access the museum, and make your way through it to reach the south tram that takes you to the top of the arch. If you arrive early, you can take your time exploring the museum or check out the gift store for some souvenirs. Additionally, there's a fascinating film about the arch that I highly recommend watching. Expect a wait of about 10-15 minutes as you gradually progress toward the elevators. It's worth noting that the elevators are on the smaller side and may feel cramped, so individuals who are claustrophobic should take note. The ascent to the top takes a few minutes, and you'll have approximately 8-10 minutes to enjoy the breathtaking views before descending. The entire experience is truly enjoyable and typically takes around 45-50 minutes in total.

This is the smallest national park in USA. It's an iconic symbol of the American frontier. If there is only one thing you are in St Louis, THIS IS IT. So don't miss it, or you will regret it. The museum is free, but you need a ticket for the team ride to the top of the arch, and you can only stay for 10 min. And I highly recommend that you do go to the top. On a clear day, the view is spectacular. Although the orange will sway under strong wind, it is built to withstand lightning, earthquake and other natural disasters. So don't worry you are safe. And you should come see it yourself.

We went on a Saturday and it was fairly busy. We did the tram ride to the top of the arch and it was under $20 a person. Our son was free since he's a wee tot. You enter at the bottom and go through a security check(similar to at an airport). Then you can walk around and learn all the history facts. There is a little cafe and gift shop in that area, as well. If you have a ticket for the tram, you continue on to the next area and guides put in groups. The rest is a quick history lesson then an even quicker ride to the top. You get around 10 minutes to look out of little windows at everything around you then you hop back in your tram and head down. It's a really quick experience but also a neat one. The trams are quite small and fit 5 people snugly(see video). If you're claustrophobic you might consider skipping the tram. If you park by the water, be prepared to climb several flights of stairs. We did it taking turns carrying our 40lb son and the thigh burn was real😅

It was a very good experience to the top of the Arch and I like a small space tram that looks like you are in a little dome with total 5 persons. The top view was very good and its worth to go to top of the Arch. The documentary movie was good and explain about the Arch story. Free museum was also a very good with detailed information about old St. Louis history. Very well organize. Really worth it.

We had a wonderful time. Found street parking using the ParkMobile app & enjoyed a 2 minute walk to the entrance. The museum was very interactive & interesting to both me & my 5yo. The tram ride was comfortable & quick up & down. The guides were all super friendly & welcoming to the park...they really added to the experience, especially Sandy at the south tram. Even the souvenir store wasn't crazy overpriced & had plenty for everyone to choose something. Overall a fantastic experience & I am looking forward to going back when the weather warms up to explore the grounds & riverfront a bit more!

Wow. The Arch is amazing. At the base is a wonderful museum about Westward Expansion, the building of the Arch and St Louis. The museum does a good job explaining the difficulty in building the Arch, and the accompanying movie is worthwhile too. The tram ride up to the top is fun and quite an engineering feat on its own. The view from the top is fine, but the really interesting part of the visit is at the base of the Arch and in the museum below.

The smallest National Park but the tallest monument in America. The best way to spend an afternoon while visiting St Louis. The museum and ride to the top are two experiences everyone should have once on their lifetime. Great bucket list item. So much fun and the history is inspiring. The 35 min video on making the Arch is breathtaking and a marvel of unique engineering. Make a road trip and visit. You wont be disappointed.

I have driven through St. Louis a few times but never actually visited until this weekend. What a great place! The Gateway Arch was great. The views are spectacular and really gives you great sight lines and visuals of the city and Mississippi River. The museum is also very nice, did not have food but the cafe looks nice. The staff was friendly and helpful and we had a great time.

It was such a cool experience to see in person. It's a lot bigger than I expected. We went there early in the morning, and there was no one around, so we got a lot of time for pictures and just enjoying the arch. By the time we did the sightseeing outside and went up into the arch, we were done by 1130 or so, and it got busy quickly. Would recommend if you are able and around the area.

Definitely an excellent experience and a must see. Was lookin for somethin quick and easy to do that's not to far away and this was perfect. You get some very interesting information from the tour and it is air conditioned which was nice because it was 97° that day and felt like 115°! Hot times for sure. Well worth the money though and the historical facts are extremely interesting. The museum area has plenty to check out also and of course the gift area. Go check out the St. Louis Arch for yourself and you'll see!

Riding up the Gateway Arch in St. Louis is an exhilarating experience that combines history, engineering marvel, and breathtaking views. The journey to the top is as captivating as the panorama that awaits. The ride itself is a testament to innovative engineering. The tram system, designed by architect Eero Saarinen, consists of small egg-shaped capsules that transport visitors to the apex. It's fascinating to see how this ingenious design manages to traverse the curved interior of the arch, providing passengers with a smooth and comfortable ascent. Speaking of the arch's construction, it's awe-inspiring to learn that this iconic structure was completed in 1965 and stands as a symbol of American ingenuity and progress. Its curved, stainless steel exterior is not only visually striking but also designed to withstand varying weather conditions, expanding and contracting with temperature changes. As you ascend, the view from the top is nothing short of spectacular. The Mississippi River winds through the city, and the sprawling urban landscape stretches out in all directions. On a clear day, you can even catch a glimpse of the distant horizons. The observation area at the summit allows you to take in the cityscape while learning about its history through informative displays. Overall, riding up the Gateway Arch is a unique experience that seamlessly blends history, engineering, and natural beauty. It's a true testament to human achievement and a must-do for anyone visiting St. Louis.

First time to the Gateway Arch and I loved it. So many spots for photo opportunities outside and in the park. The park itself it's peaceful and really well kept I could spend a lot of time there. Tickets to go up the arch are pretty cheap 15$ per adult. Waiting in line and going up the arch and back down was about 40-45 minutes altogether. The historical center was also awesome to see with quite a bit to look at and read.

This was an enjoyable experience! The cinema and tram ride are worth it! A lady working at the entrance desk named Karen was super friendly and helpful! I loved the changes they did throughout the museum. The view at the top of the Arch was beautiful; it makes you appreciate the builders who built the Gateway Arch.

We enjoyed our visit to this amazing monument and the history behind it. We visited the museum, free entrance, and the basilica of St Louis, beautiful. There are lot of stairs but also ramps available, so all can enjoy the visit.

Amazing Architecture standing 630 feet tall. A must visit place. Always book tickets for tram ahead of time if you're planning to visit the place in a weekend. Most of the times Tram tickets are sold out. Even if you have to spend $7 extra I would suggest to opt for the documentary movie, really worth it. Finding parking is not easy but there are cheap pay and park places in walking distance to Arch.

Fabulous! The museum and displays are soo well done. The tram ride up is an experience, not for the claustrophobic definitely. View is worth it. Staff was very, very caring and helpful. Know how you're coming out of the parking garage; easy to walk too far trying to get the arch. Not enough signage in garages or on the street. And the entrance to the arch is deceptive, study where you're going before you go.

Amazing experience for all ages! The Gateway Arch and the surrounding NP is truly a magical place to stroll around. The museum at the bottom and food/coffee options are incredible and if you're brave enough, a trip to the top! Do not understand the magnificence of GANP and St. Louis!

Awesome ! Perfect overcast ☁️ day, mid 80's, not too crowded, but buzy. Masks are required in the Arch area as it is a Federal Building. If you are into history, there is a lot to take in. Enjoy. We did !

Visiting the Arch was a fun and unique experience. We loved riding to the top, and looking straight down 630 feet was surreal. The ride was quick but worth doing. At the bottom of the Arch, there is a free museum about pioneering, which is worth the time as well. My 6 year old found parts of it engaging, and she really liked seeing the artifacts. The gift shop had a great selection of fun souvenirs.

Have to say pleasantly surprised. The Gateway Arch is truly an engineering marvel. Had no idea you can go up the arch to the top and view the city and the mighty Mississippi River. It is daunting in the small tram you go up in fits 5 people. But amazed takes only 4 minutes to go up and 3 minutes to go down. Our family enjoyed the monument and visiting the museum inside underground. Truly a must to go visit and go up and enjoy. But if your cluster phonic do not go might not be for you the tram is small. The experience was memorable for my family!

Beautiful and MUCH BIGGER in person. Lots of room to enjoy a picnic or let's kids play. Beautiful pond. Super cute park north of the arch near the metro bridge and parking lots. The bridge has so many facets of engineering and architectural details! The entrance is closer to the busy road, NOT near the arch. More signage for entrance would be appreciated for those with children or walking difficulties. Beautiful bird watching.

Entry to the Arch museum is free, but to go up in the tower, it is about $16/adult & $14/child (base price). You travel up in a small tram and get about 10 minutes at the top. It was pretty cool, but I think I prefer being on the ground. The park around the Arch is beautiful! Great place for a picnic! I really enjoyed the museum, café and gift shop! Great bucket list item to check off.

What a nifty thing! I was expecting a cool piece of architecture, but it was so much more! I had no idea you could go up to the top inside of it. It’s a small pod so definitely don’t go if you dislike small spaces or heights. Ride up is 4 minutes. Ride down is 3 minutes. Spent about 10 minutes at the top. It was affordable too!

  • 3/5 Mitchell E. 5 months ago on Google
A very average experience overall. To get to the top of the arch, you need to wait in 3 different lines and watch 2 completely boring and unnecessary videos before being take up the top in a small claustrophobic Ferris wheel like ball. Once your up the top, the only views are out small windows. You could easily get better views from the surrounding hotels. Overall a very average experience.

It's a great national monument but a horrible National Park! There's literally no parking as far as national parks go it's tiny and you shouldn't have to make reservations days in advance to go up into the arch. Especially when you can clearly see it's not that busy. They definitely need a better system for metering the traffic.

I’m from here but when your from here you don’t often get here! It’s worth it though we take it for granted for sure! The updated museum about westward expansion and St. Louis in general is really well done! The tram is still small but at least it has a glass door so you can see out as you go up the arch which makes it more bearable! The view from the top makes it all worth it! The arch grounds are lovely well redone as well and it’s so nice to see the love it deserves! Highly recommend coming in the morning during the week as downtown is much less busy and crowded!

What a great experience. Very cool Movie and the whole ride up and down is exciting. Views from the top as well as the park itself are very good. Great for all ages. Totally must do if in St Louis.

Must visit place. What an engineering structure build in 1960s. You can easily spend entire day with museum and tramp tour at 630 feet for amazing views. Beautiful garden and well managed national park.

Recently visited St. Louis for three days earlier this week to visit a friend and we both went to the Bruins-Blues game (Bruins won thankfully 😎😉😎) Knew I had to visit the Arch while there since it’s the iconic tourist attraction in St. Louis and it did not disappoint! I initially thought only the park existed but then went to the free public museum which had fantastic exhibits telling the entire history of St. Louis, being a history buff I was like a kid in a candy store! I will be definitely come back if I’m there in the future!

Had a great time here with my husband, son and myself. My son and I made it to the top of the arch. The tram ride up was so unique. The top had good views and it was quite the experience. You get about 10 minutes at the top which seemed like plenty of time. It was windy and rainy that day so we could feel the sway. The museum is so nice. And the documentary was full of great info.

This was cool to go up and the museum was pretty good. You could tell they displays we’re trying to acknowledge the screwed up history of colonialism (after all it was built to célèbrent expansion west) but I think they could have had even more focus on that. Going up the arch was really cool but personally I got bored by the talking and just want to ride up to the top.

Beautiful monument. A definite must when visiting Saint Louis. The majestic size and the outstanding architecture grabs attention. It’s really nice that you can take a tram to get up there. It costs $17, but totally worth it. Recommended!

It’s a really big arch! Very iconic and fun to see in person! We were here for a short layover and were able to get from the airport here, have breakfast a few blocks away, coffee, and explore in our 4 hour layover. So much fun! If you are in St. Louis for a layover, I highly recommend leaving and exploring this area downtown! For context, we do have TSA PreCheck which helped not needing to wait for security! Still, come!

Visited here in October 2021 and did the ride to the top. It's like riding in a large egg :-) Pretty cool when you get to the top as the walking surface is slightly curved. Very neat to finally do this.

Great place to visit! Lines all ran smoothly and it was an orderly transition from the check-in to the top and back down. Some unique history all the way from out greeting to a little movie to the facts projected on the doors that let you on to the tram. 4 minutes up and 3 minutes down. Yes, the tram is small but you can see the inside of the arch via the window/doors on the side. They allot the group 9 minutes at the top which is more than enough time to get some great photos. I’d recommend the movie on the building of the arch as it helped to make sense out of the architecture and the construction. The museums in the area were also very informative. Highly recommended.

This was our first time back since the Gateway Arch National Park renovations were completed. I would definitely recommend purchasing tickets in advance because one has a greater option of entrance times to select from. The process flowed well, and was very orderly. The historical area, at the front of the hall, is well worth walking through. There is so much to learn about the history of St. Louis, from colonial to present time. I found it to be very fascinating including how the Arch design was selected to the actual building of the Arch. Then one enters the area to get checked in. After that we meet the tour guide who talks about the history of the Arch, talks about the safety rules, and takes us to the area to ride the elevator to the top of the Arch. At the top of the Arch we were able to have a bird's eye view of the city. Although limited to 7 minutes of visiting at the top of the Arch it is ample time to take in the sights and panoramic views of downtown St. Louis. Truly a fascinating experience.

There is a nice museum underneath you can see for free. If you want to go to the top of the arch or ride the vintage river boat, there is a cost. They are both a timed event. I think every 15 minutes there is a car that goes to the top. You have to buy a specific time slot. There wasn't much of a crowd when we got there. The rangers were very courteous and helpful. Everyone we met in St Louis was so very kind. Also, go get the fudge. The ladies running the space in the back of the gift shop are extra sweet. It was some of the smoothest, tastiest, and cheapest priced fudge I have ever had. 😋

  • 5/5 Brock H. 10 months ago on Google
Much more fun than I expected. The park area at the arch is a great place for a picnic while the museum below was very well done. The trip to the top was quick but also quite fun. The engineering to get all of this in place is quite remarkable and remains in great shape. Definitely a great visit!

If you visit St. Louis, the arch is a must see. The Gateway to the West has a beautiful visitor center and museum that should be explored before the tram ride. Save about an hour or more to see it. The tram ride is 635 feet to the top in a five seat enclosed car that is cramped but it works. The view from above is so spectacular it seems like you can see the curvature of the earth.

  • 5/5 Will M. 10 months ago on Google
Great national monument that I want to bring more family members too. The ride to the top is quicker than you think, but if you're claustrophobic you might wanna pass on going to the top. You can still learn a lot without going to the top

  • 5/5 Jackson C. 10 months ago on Google
While I don't agree on it being a national park, Gateway Arch is a magnificent structure worth seeing. Definitely take the ride to the top. It's very unique and exciting, especially since the elevator has windows that let you look at the interior of the arch.

We had the chance to visit a couple of times. It has an incredibly beautiful atmosphere. It looks so beautiful from the outside. It makes me happy every time I see it. The museum is incredibly beautiful. There is a very beautiful narration. Everything is simple and technological. The main problem here is going upstairs. It's incredibly claustrophobic. Unfortunately, you can't find a satisfying window when you go upstairs.

  • 5/5 Bonnie R. 9 months ago on Google
This is such an iconic landmark. We had a great time touring the museum and taking the tram to the top of the arch. The tram is very small and seats a maximum of 5 people. Visitors have 10 minutes at the top before taking the tram back down.

plan on staying in a hotel with the view of the arch and I promise the sunrise in the a.m is worth the price of admission!! what a beauty and a vision and so worth the drive from Chicago to experience!! We will be back to go up in it soon with the kiddos and we plan on coming for the holidays to see what the hype is all about!!!!

  • 5/5 Joshua K. 10 months ago on Google
The tram cars are small and if you have a party of 5 or more they have to be split up. If you can’t walk many stairs make sure you get in car #1 that will help with the least amount of steps. You get 10 minutes at the top and it is air conditioned. If you don’t like tight spaces this might not be the choice for you. The tram cars are a little tight. Well worth the views and the time.

Must do when if St Louise, it was a short walk from where we stayed. Beautiful architecture, lots of history. You can take the tram to go up for grabs views but we opted out as I'm claustrophobic. We did go down to see the museum, gift shop and grabbed a snack at the cafe. Expect to go through a Security check before you can enter. I promise you will be taking lots and lots of pics from several different angles to capture this amazing architecture.

Loved it.... other than the ride to the top in the "box". Great view. Museum is really cool. Worth the experience, even though you only get a few minutes at the "top".

We stopped in Missouri on our way home from Colorado and decided to make a day trip out of the Arch. We didn’t pay to go up it but we enjoyed walking the grounds and touring the museum. They also had live music and food stalls by the water where you park. Fun, cheap and easy for a quick trip. Plus it’s a National Park!

  • 5/5 Danielle H. 9 months ago on Google
So excited to cross another NP off our list this summer! This one did not disappoint. We explored all the grounds, the museum, and enjoyed the arch to the fullest by doing a scheduled tram ride to the top. The views of the city can't be beat. Definitely a must see!

  • 4/5 Michael M. 9 months ago on Google
Worth doing it to check the box, but not sure I’d feel the need to do it twice. The whole thing is about $15+ per person to take the tram (a claustrophobic Ferris wheel ride staring at concrete) up to a small room to look out tiny windows. I had more fun taking pictures for tourist families than I did staring out the tiny windows. Cool view, but a little anticlimactic for the price. The museum looked cool, but unfortunately we were in a bit of a rush and didn’t get to check it out.

I have driven by this arch 10 times and finally took my family on our roadtrip. I was so pleased with everything from the museum to the ride up. Didn’t even know you could ride to the top until we got here. Super friendly staff, cold AC, and the ride up is not hot. I am very happy we made this part of our trip. The view is amazing. 3 minutes up. 10 minutes at the top. 4 minutes down.

We bought our tickets on line. We had to find parking. The least expensive we could find that allowed us the time we need cost $24. It take a while to get through the airport like security to get into the museum, cafeteria, and Arch. The noise was very loud & hard for me I needed ear plugs.. There is no toilet at the top of the Arch so use the facilities before or youll be waiting until after. On the way to the top we were placed in a tiny metal container, (I don't do well in small spaces). I started to panic. The hum was loud to me, it moved too much for me I got seasick. At the top there is very limited space as well. I felt like the walls were closing. The sway of the Arch was considered low but I felt it and it was sickening they gave me a vomit bag. Luckily it is only about a 10 min visit. The view was fantastic from the 16 (8x20 ?) Windows. The ride down in the tiny container was indeed overwhelming, I was thankful it took less time then on the way up. I will NOT be doing it again. However, I am glad I was brave, and went. It indeed will be a cherished memory.

Mixed feelings about this place. I wanted to give it less stars because of my own personal past and nostalgia which I feel deserves the 5 stars, but because they've changed literally everything I remember about it, I want to give it 3. I won't, though. I will compromise and settle on 4 stars, mostly because going to the top is still the best ever. The new entrance looks rather nice and clean for now, but feels rather stiff as you walk in because it feels like you're walking into an airport (complete with the whole "take off your belt, empty your pockets, and place everything in the bin" routine). The museum, which used to feel rather warm and comfortable, now feels just about like any other museum I've visited before. I was happy to see many familiar exhibits even if they are displayed in a more "modern" way. As you head down to get in line for the tram ride... well, it's very institutional now. A few years back, even that space was full of interesting and educational exhibits, and the video that used to play on the wall above was quite frankly one of my favorite aspects. However... sadly, that video no longer plays. There are other videos that are not nearly as educational as that old one was, although, it does share some interesting things, even if not necessarily about the Arch itself. I have moved to a handful of other states over the years, and when I see the Arch glistening in the sun, I know I'm nearly home. I'm not happy with the changes they've made, but if you haven't been there before, please, please, please go. When you get to the top and you see that magnificent city from that height... well, it is definitely worth it! --- And DO get tickets online before you get there, or you may have a long wait! Oh! And parking! You may want to call ahead and ask about parking. It took us 30 to 40 minutes to finally park, because every way the navigation wanted to take us had closed roads and detours. It was ridiculous and a huge headache! So please be aware of that, especially if you do have tickets for a certain time. It was actually annoying enough for us that we nearly left.

If you're in St. Louis you have to visit the arch. I'm a local and have been 3 times and it never disappoints. Our last trip was my daughter's first trip to the top and she was impressed. The tram ride to the top seems much faster than I remember as a kid. If you carry a current cellphone like everyone does you can get some great pictures from the top. There are very nice views of Busch Stadium as well as the river and much of downtown. The museum underground is also nice and very informative. There's also a lot of little restaurants around the area so make an afternoon of it.

Totally worth checking out the gateway arch museum and going up the arch itself. I had not been there in 32 years and it was interesting to see the different redesigned museum. The view from the top of the arch is amazing. Wish you could spend a little more time at the top. The limited 10 minutes is a bit rushed. They've done a great job in the museum. There are many interesting exhibits. The movie is worth seeing as well to learn about the history of the arch and to see how it was constructed. We visited in mid-August so it was great not having to deal with large crowds. Really surprised St Louis hasn't done more with their riverfront over the years. Maybe it's just because the Mississippi is so muddy or the lack of architecture across the river. The National Park is well maintained and very walkable. We felt very safe walking the area.

Neat to view up close and especially go up in the tower. It is impressive to see how it was built and the scale of the unground museum they recently built. The tram that takes you up to the top was a fun 4 minute ride up and 3 minute ride down. Super clean park with a large grassy field under the arch.

I have always wanted to go here. We went at 9am and it was not busy yet. We were able to get a 9:35 ride to the top. The ride was smooth. Now I have bad hearing so not sure if it was just me. But I couldn't understand the lady giving the small presentation before you take the ride up. Otherwise a great museum to see very clean and the staff was friendly. Oh and the view from the top was spectacular.

Wow!! What a place. A real marvellous piece of architecture. A must visit if you are in St.Louis. The arch has two exits one north and one south. So if you are visiting please do not reach to the north or south base leg of arch. It’s only for exit. Please follow the signs for reaching the entry area. Strongly advise to pre book your tickets online. There is a security check at the entry almost like airport. The ticket will have the indicator which wing you have to take. North wing or the South wing. Once tickets are scanned you will be briefed by your tour guide about history and safety precautions. A small tram car will take you to the top. Each car can take 5 people. A viewing deck with small slit windows are there for viewing. It’s a spectacular view of St.Louis and Missisippi river. You are allowed to spend about 10 minutes at viewing deck. The tram car will bring you back. There is a very nice souvenir shop. You can buy souvenirs and arch t shirts and many more memorabilia from here. There is a small cafe. The museum at the main hall is also worth watching. Tickets cost $17. Kids will enjoy this ride to the top of the arch and the view.
