River's Edge

Park Zoo Exhibit

👍👍 Amazing detail on the habitats, very serene and life like surroundings, I’m sure all the animals feel at home in the wild, minus all the people staring in awe..and is free to get in. Excellent Adventure!

The Rivers Edge, is a relatively new addition to the St Louis Zoo and features a paved pathway which leads you through environments found on different continents and houses Wildlife found in those continents. The animal enclosures allow an up close viewing experience while at the same time providing a very natural and realistic habitat. Along the way you will find several other interesting attractions what you can stop at and enjoy, as well as, a very natural Missouri cave environment complete with a large glass wall aquatic viewing area!

It is consistently on our list of places to visit when we go to the zoo. It is very well done and makes you feel like you are in the animal's actual habitat.

River’s Edge takes you on a fun 3/4 of a mile trail across various habitats through four major river systems along rivers in South America, Asia, Africa and Missouri. There are some bathroom stops at about the halfway point on the trail. The elephants were definitely the highlight for me because there were so many of them and they are just such majestic beasts. The trail is shaped beautifully with rock and water features in between the habitats.

I love Raja and the others. I'm always so excited to see them and they're the reason why I come to the zoo every year

We were at the zoo, didn't make it to the River's Edge. We enjoyed Cat Country, the Sea Lions & the Gorillas & primate house. Quick run through but as usual, wonderful. The St Louis Zoo is a must as often as possible .

Awesome zoo the wife and I are up from canada we must say it is a much better zoo then the toronto zoo and African lion safari. The animals were all very friendly the gorilla exhibit and orangutan exhibit is awesome as well as the bears, hyenas, and penguins were very interactive, some of the animals were not out but it was an awesome experience still. The gift shop has a huge selection of stuffed animals.

I remember when I was a little boy the "River's Edge" opened up and it's been inspiring me ever since. The individuals that planned and maintain this area are absolute spectacular human beings for bringing such a unique, endemic feeling all that way to St. Louis. You feel as if you're waking through the African savanna or something similar while walking the River's Edge.

The St. Louis Zoo is such an amazing place! First, it's FREE! Then they keep adding great exhibits with Grizzly bears. You can get so close that you will know what a real bear smells like. Go to the zoo and take your kids.

Me and my husband love taking a baby Ozzie to the zoo! We all absolutely love animals. We love going for Boo at the Zoo and the Wild Light at Christmas! Our little man Ozzie loves seeing the penguins they are definitely his favorite and one of mine but I also really love the elephants.

So very adorable for the kids. If you decide to sacrifice your evening for your sweet, wonderful little darlings make sure you wear comfy shoes, get nice and warm and bring cash for the alcoholic beverages because my debit card statements look ridiculous with all the zoo cafe purchases for one night. Enjoy! Ps. We were there for the Boo at the Zoo event at this time.

They should add more animal petting or touching areas but not like the old petting zoo
