(Translated by Google) The church of San Miguel is a solemn and luminous Protestant temple of baroque style, with a slender tower and a crypt, both of which can be visited. The entrance to the church is free and the visit to the tower and crypt costs € 7. It is perhaps the most important church in Hamburg, and it comes out on one of Germany's € 2 coins. The tower of more than 100 m. It is a magnificent viewpoint over the city and the Elbe, which can be climbed by elevator. The crypt is a small history museum where the remains of J. S. Bach's father rest.

Spectacular. A must see in Hamburg. 4 Euro to climb or take the elevator to the top, and another 2 euro to see the crypt. The views at the top are spectacular, but it is freezing up there in winter so dress appropriately. The information displays on the way up to the top need to be redone. In the crypt you are walking directly on the gravestones, there is no effort to preserve the stone engravings which I find very strange. I would give the crypt a 3 star, nothing amazing and would not really recommend it.

A beautiful historic and old church. Visitors can take the elevator to the top and it is worth the trip. The view around Hamburg and the Hamburg Port is just stunning. The interior of the church is simply beautifully built and peaceful.

Cool church with a rich interior and, as odd as it sounds, exciting music! We didn't go up the platform for the view since went up the tower of another church, but even so it was worth the visit. Very walkable from the city center.

is one of Hamburg's five Lutheran main churches and one of the most famous churches in the city. St. Michaelis is considered to be one of the finest Hanseatic Protestant baroque churches. It is dedicated to the Archangel Michael. A large bronze statue, standing above the portal of the church shows the archangel conquering the devil. The 132-meter high Baroque spire totally covered with copper is a prominent feature of Hamburg's skyline and has always been a landfall mark for ships sailing up the river Elbe. The composer and pianist Johannes Brahms was baptized on May 26, 1833 in this church. Offering 2,500 seats, the Michel is the largest church in Hamburg. The church has five organs including a Marcussen organ and a large Steinmeyer organ. The altar is 20 meters tall and was built from costly marble in 1910

Beautiful church and a must see. Prices are a bit high. Each area (crypt, tower) has a cost of around 5/6€ for the visit. The church itself requires a 2€ donation. Overall a very interesting part of Hamburg history.

Beautiful building, definitely worth seeing. The 8 euros to visit the viewing platform at the top of the tower is absolutely worth it. Amazing views, completely unrestricted unlike the other tower. If you are in hamburg, do this.

An incredible church with beautiful features, you can pay to go up the tower via a lift to get an incredible view of Hamburg! Highly recommend doing this. The people working at the ticket office seemed very lovely and helpful and made the whole experience even better!

As we had just arrived after a long flight. We opted out of taking the stairs and took the little elevator instead. It Was a very interesting ride. The views from the top are wonderful and you can really get a feel for the lay of the land. If you have sensitive ears. Cover them on the quarter hour and hour the bells are loud.

Beautiful architectural design either outside and inside the building, wonderful old fashioned organs. Then, at the top of the tower, about hundred something meters tall, an splendid 360° view of the city could be enjoyed. Taking the stairs by going down back from the tower, it could be appreciated the bells and old bricks walls.

Didn't regret visiting the church. We went up the tower, which costs 6€ but the view was worth the money! You even got a better view than from the Elbphilharmonie. There is a lift but you can also climb up the stairs to the 10th floor.

Beautiful church with bright interior in the colours of white and mint green. This church is a big part of Hamburgs history and also has a museum in the crypt as well as a tower you can take the stairs or an elevator to. Both the museum and towers requires a ticket but it's worth it.

We visited the church after the observation deck but almost as an afterthought. We didn't go into the crypts sadly but the church was superb. It is relatively modern (just over a hundred years old) and the inside is bright and airy. We spent about twenty minutes listening to the organ recitals and it was lovely to see a church that is actually in use, rather than being just a museum. The crypts were €6 or an extra €2 if you do the tower trip.

The church is nice to visit, and the view of the city from the tower is very nice! It’s a bit pricey, but if you don’t mind spending some extra euros on it, you should go up the tower. The church is free to enter.

Church's history is interesting, architecture in and out is beautiful, don't miss the 106 meters view from the observation deck (6-8 euros) at the top where you can appreciate the beauty of the city and its harbor.

The iconic St. Michael's is a must-see in Hamburg. But the tickets for the crypt and the tower elevator, they are well worth it. You can walk up the tower stairs, but 10 stories is to much for me. We went on the morning and then returned at night for Nachtmichel. Seeing the city at night, and the beautiful sunset over the harbor, was a highlight of our trip.

Pleasant church to visit, no charge to enter and just a small fee if you want to climb the tower. We didn't have time but apparently if you do this you get to see the inner workings of the clock. There is an elevator if you cannot manage 400+ steps.

Beautiful cathedral located in the city centre. Very rich design features and a magnificent organ. I recommend visiting during the day to avoid large crowds. One thing to note, is that unlike the churches in Paris, you are not charged an entrance fee to tour the inside of Hamburg churches. There are tickets for sale if you wish to climb the clock tower.

I haven’t gone to the top of the tower yet since it was raining and cold (so I don’t want to get wet), but the church itself already makes me feel content and relieved that I’ve decided to pay a visit. Even more, the pianist were playing their piece! It makes the atmosphere even more thrilling and ethereal. I am amazed and it definitively managed to leave a huge memory in my heart! ❤️

Oldest churches in Hamburg.... The church is not particularly old, having been burned down a few times. However the interior is interesting to see, particularly the old font which survived the fires. It is free to enter, with box for donations. A small payment let’s you go up the tower. You can use a lift or climb the whole way. From the top are great views of the city, with explanatory photographs.

One of the most beautifully churches from the inside that I have ever visited. On the 2nd of August I went to a mass with a friend at 18 o’clock and it was fun, interesting and beautiful. The young band was great and the singer had a lovely voice, and the priest was well spoken and had a friendly and lovely personality in front of the crowd.

(Translated by Google) As part of the city tour we could not get off in the morning, as many buses blocked the square in front of St. Michael's Church. Therefore, we went on foot from the Alsterarkaden (where we had finished our city tour) along the Alsterfleet and over the Rödingsmarkt to the St. Michaelis church. There I climbed the church tower to enjoy the wonderful view and take pictures (4 Euro). Afterwards I met Jutta, who was waiting for me, because we wanted to visit the crypt together (3 Euro p.P.). The altar I found very impressive and I also discovered a memorial plaque for fallen hamburgers in CHINA and AFRICA (in both countries we recently traveled safely - what a progress!).

THE vista spot to view Hamburg City from above - the most amazing, beautiful views over the industrial harbour, HafenCity, the Speicherstadt, the inner City and the Binnen- and Aussenalster. Definitely worth the visit. One is not allowed to climb the stairs as one of the tributes to the pandemic, but with the mask on that probably wouldn't have been to funny anyway. On the way down the stairs the clockwork mechanism is amazing. The church itself also stunningly beautiful! The lady at the ticket booth friendly.

The main church of Hamburg is always a delight to visit. €6 per adult gets you on the elevator to the tower observation deck with a 360° view of the entire city. From here views extend into neighboring Schleswig-Holstein and even Lower Saxony. Make sure to check out the organ inside as well, and most certainly consider making a small cash donation to contribute to the upkeep of this historic church.

St. Michael's is considered Hamburg main Church and one of city symbols. It's easily distinguished in its Baroque beauty with its tall copper roof with clock. The Church dates back to early 17 c when the first Chapel was built here which was enlarged over centuries along with devastations due to fires and wars. The structure we see today was built at the beginning of 20c but heavily damaged during allied bombing 1943-45. Interiors are very nice, richer than average German Cathedral. Beautiful organ. I do not recommend climbing the Tower - save that for St. Nicholas Church which has a taller tower and better position

This is something you need to do once in Hamburg, you go to the top for €8 and have a 365° view of most of Hamburg. You can take an elevator or take the stairs. The church is beautiful too.

My daughter and I felt that this was our favorite stop in Hamburg. Visiting this stop in conjunction with the bus tour was perfect. If you're in decent cardio shape, be sure to take the stairs to the top - amazing views!

Beautiful architecture and rich history presented in this church. On the inside you can see and feel the melted bricks which again solidified after the 1906 fire.
