Fun, dark, spooky and informative. It is a creative way to inform the people about the history of Hamburg ( a little part ). It is fun to see the artists at work and their acting during the play (of which you are a part). At some points, yes it is a little scary but it is worth the visit and the surprise at the very last play is just wow. The purchasing of the entry tickets is possible only online and you can buy the combined ticket with a ferry that takes you around Hamburg port. The staff is nice and friendly.

I think it's an amazing experience and worth every penny. The main disadvantage is really that there are mainly only German tours. Just on Sundays at 10.... The actors are amazing and the effort they put is outstanding. Along with that they reacted to the fact that my company only spoke English, so they reacted very professional with some nice English comments. It was good but the website says "Entrance to Hamburg Dungeon with medical/ FFP2 mask". But when someone asked about it, the group was told "you can use if you want" so basically everyone unmasked. So take this into account if you're worried about getting infected, big groups of people in small rooms so no distance and no masks. I would not have gone if I had known masks weren't mandatory.

Super recommended! It was fun and a great way to learn some history from hamburg. The actors and the set up was so detailed, but could be scary for children since they have some spooky stories too. Its also english friendly, i recommend you to book online including the pictures because it get expensive when you try to purchase it on site. You’ll take the picture before entering the play and there will be a machine to see and purchase your picture that you take after.

Actors were really impressive! Most of the rooms were based on local history/myth which was also unexpectedly educational. The tour group was quite large tho, so if possible bringing your own group is prob recommended.

The staff is great and great efforts are made.... but it gets boring after a while. Maybe this is more suited for a younger crowd? Perhaps a good venue for primary school outing, rather than a tourist attraction. Ons a short visit to Hamburg, it is better to give it a miss. I still rate it a 4, because of the enthusiasm of the staff/actors.

We really liked the dungeon, it was a lot of fun and it wasn't just 1.5 hours of constant terror but at times it actually was really terrifying. Tourists beware tho; to us it wasn't very clear that our tour was in German. Luckily I have had 5 years of German so I understood most of it. However my brother didn't so he understood nothing and since it is very interactive he was more afraid of being chosen and having to answer German questions than he was of the actual horror house. While stories related to Hamburg they often remained somewhat generic (like the black death) or just didn't went into any depth (e.g.,the great flood or the prison break). I think it is very impressive what is all hidden within this building but to make it a Hamburg attraction it would need more historical details on Hamburg specific Events.

We were recommended to go here by ChatGPT, and it was a great experience. I was a bit concerned as we had a 9yo and was worried he would be too scared, but it was just perfect. They don't do the shock scare that most haunted houses do, and even when they do, it's much more subtle. It's more of an immersive theater experience. Buying tickets was difficult, as they are very popular. I was able to get tickets from an online travel service (Pelago), and specified the English option, but when we got there they only had German shows. I believe this is likely more of the fault of the travel service. However, we still had a great time! Some of the people in the group participated in the scenes, which was slightly creepy but still fun. It is located in the Miniaturwunderland building, which is also worth visiting if you are in Hamburg. Definitely worth a visit.

They are not very convenient, some parts are overdramatic (Oscar the dog), and the timeline is messed up (first room was about times of Napoleon, fourth room was about Black Death). I assume it could be entertaining for children, but for adults there was not much to see. We did this tour on a Sunday morning as there was an English guided tour. The experience was really thrilling and funny! You’d be on top of your toes to see what will happen next and if you’ll be picked in front of everybody. We were a big group and each station was really special. The ending ride was awesome! We bought some photos at the end. It’s totally worth it!

It served well for sharpening my listening skills in the German language 😄. But there is a tour on Friday done in English as well. 90 mins of a fun history lesson 😆. Since I was a child I have visited the Hamburg Dungeon a few times. A few new attractions were added and a few were upgraded :) Every time I really enjoy the tour! Especially the actors are amazing and I like when I am really scared :) I can not add anything negative to be honest. I got the last ticket (visit) for Christmas and we went there at the first of January and even on this tourist hot spot day - everything went smooth :) I am looking forward for the next visit in a few years :)

Absolutely gorgeous. This building is old and full of charm, having been originally built in 1310 (yes, ~800 years ago). It was partially destroyed during WWII but has been faithfully restored to its former glory.It is a building designed in the Gothic style. Just as with the new town hall, you can go up the stairs to the top. I believe the price is €1,60.

Fun show, well acted, some good jump scares - but if you're not a native speaker or at least at B2/C1 level in German, make sure you book an English Tour. I definitely struggled with the dialog on occasion.

You will learn a lot of historical facts while also fearing for your life. It liked the Hamburg Fires part and alll the scares were also very effective. The place is incredibly designed to fit the purpose that I almost felt like I am in an Escape Room.

It was kinda neat. I was expecting a bit more of a theater-like show. Overall, it wasn't terrible but I think €58 for two people was a bit pricey for what it was. So it was a decent experience but I guess I expected something more better, for lack of better words.

I went to the dungeons years and years ago and wasn't very impressed, so when my kids wanted to go again, I have to admit I wasn't super keen. When we arrived, we were lining up for almost half an hour in freezing rain - the dungeon opened 10 minutes late. Not a great start. Once inside, things changed for the better very quickly. Staff are very friendly and the tour has improved a lot. The individual rooms are well done, the acting is actually very good. It's not super scary, so teens will be fine. There's also a couple of rides inside. All in all a fun experience. Unfortunately, the lady in the shop charged the wrong price for t-shirts. She was helpful once we pointed out her error and "refunded" us the wrong amount and charged again. Several weeks on and the refund hasn't gone through, so we now paid more than twice the original price of the t-shirts. This could be a 5 star rating, there's a point off for having to wait in the cold rain and the shop experience. Otherwise this is highly recommened.

My friend got a little creeped out, so I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who can't walk through your basic haunted house.
