Used to be my favorite airport, but now it’s become a total no go for business travelers, at least at holiday times: they close the security fast lane when it’s most needed! And of course info booths with no staff… Twice in a row I had a one hour queue to get through security. Later on: lounge “menu” hasn’t been renewed in over a decade, gate handling a disaster, and so on. Isn’t the “lack of personnel” phrase a really bad excuse for bad planning and inadequate payment to become an attractive employer?

Very poorly organized airport, lack of staff.. The queue for security was hundreds of meters long. I had to buy Fast Track, and even with Fast Track I waited over an hour to get through - I don’t want to imagine how long it takes without it… There was only one security lane open.

The airport information staff is not helpful and are very condescending. They were not friendly and sent me to the wrong gate. If you work at the help/ information desk please provide assistance? Some flight boards were inoperable and needed to search to find one that was working. The flight information board use less known flight airport codes that may not be understandable by first time passengers. We can read the board, but your flight codes are not know to foreign travelers and when a traveler wants to be certain they are at the correct gate don’t give them a difficult time.

A big airport. Clean, well maintained. Well connected with train system. Smooth process through security and immigration. Clear signs everywhere. Information desks. Duty free, travel accessories, clothings , lounges, children play areas, gift and souvenir, restaurants and Cafe's and much more. Clean and comfortable seating in waiting areas.

Like for a big city and such size, the airport was not overcrowded. The staff is nice and polite, work quickly. Convenient for guiding you along whole your way to the gate. There are many big shops in duty fee area and cafes.

The airport is big and crowded in the evening times. But, I should mention, the queues were much lessor in security and immigration compared to last year. The restaurants on the airport start closing by 8pm. Even the lounge closes down by 10.00pm so if you are flying out late evening, plan your food accordingly. Very few vege options are available. Even the lounge has very limited menu, mainly drinks and starter types.

It has been a really great airport: due to less personal everything is taking longer. It still has great shops at terminal 2. But so far the service is not great anymore. I hope it will get better soon. At least the flight was nearly in time and it was quick at security check in. Going with the train to the airport is wirred cause of the sbahn situation in Hamburg.

A quite big and modern airport. I especially appreciated certain creative elements like quotes of famous personalities about the city of Hamburg along the wall. Bathrooms are clean and spacious. Easy to access car sharing or general accessibility by car if you’re being picked up. Chill vibe despite all those travelers going their ways. #ilikeit

I get that no one can really pick which airport to travel in and out of, but this was can really let you down. Accessibility by car is fairly easy and that’s what gives it some points. Early morning flights should absolutely be avoided. The morning crush of people trying to get bags dropped and through security is a disaster. Seriously, plan ahead for 3+ hours for early flights.

Nice "little" airport that is easy to get to and usually has things in order. Only bad thing is, that the long term parking area is really badly accessible and we have been there several times in "off hours" so NO shuttle buses and there you are really on your own several kilometers away from the airport and with kids and luggage, then that is a really, really bad start on a vacation or a really, really bad ending to a vacation!!

Well designed airport. For example, I noticed that use of train, plane and rental cars is well connected. Excellent indoor air quality. Comfortable furniture. Well tasting coffee. Fast wlan. Clean everywhere. Thank you.

Very bad service at airport . Huge unorganized security lane due to lack of trained staff . Lost luggages packed in a depot without any security check and no one to support desperate customers who came back after 1 week having no feedbacks on their luggages. This is a shame for such a city like Hamburg to have such a window for the world visitors .

A fine airport with just a couple levels for arrivals and departures. Signage is good, lots of police to help and be available. Adequate placement of rest rooms and places to eat. This airport seems to be less hectic which helps keep travelers content. One of my favorite airports.

A nice and conviniant airport. But this time it took about 50 min to get the luggage because of airplane delay. If you want to rent a car it's easy ecause the rental companies is in the arrival hall.

Efficient as far as airports go. Large airport, well spaced out. Processed through security quick enough, and border control was effective. I wouldn't expect anything less from Germany, the airport is well built and laid out, engineered correctly.

An average, quite big airport. There is a lot of restaurants and a real big Mac D. Comfortable and good numbers of seating are available. A lot of activities for children's. Mosques and chapel is available for prayers. I guess the staff are less, bcoz of which check in is very slow and one can see long queues, hence I give 4 stars. Clean toilets, all and all I would say not bad but can get better

An easy airport to access.. Friendly staff and quiet interior.. Self service baggage check in problematic but a friendly staff member helped.. The airport is long but once you know the layout all is simple. Lounges and food hall are at the centre.. Security check in quick and easy. - lots of reports of this being slow and difficult.. I had fast track but didn't see a fast track and didn't need one. I went through at about 15h on a Wednesday.. I stayed at the lounge so I can't report on food elsewhere.. Boarding was easy. As an airport it was fine. Modern and clean. Security was quick. Duty free was decent value and lot of choice. Food was expensive as you expect at airports. The only thing was leaving EU was small section that felt very full and busy. Meant it felt crowded and queue for the toilet.

For the last 150+ flights that’s the first place I found with the mandatory rule to carry small liquids exclusively in a transparent plastic bag, so don't neglect it. The true problem here is that you can’t get any tap water cheaper than 2,2-3 EUR which is quite ridiculous. On the other hand, it’s fair to notice the speed of the procedures: I arrived at the airport s-bahn station at 6:09 and made it to the gates at 6:25 for the 7:00 and that’s quite fast

It was a smooth check at the airport and didn't take so much time. Just notice that the S-Bahn is splitted at the station before the airport. So make sure you are in the first (front) of the S-Bahn.

Quite a nice place, and a good selection of stores and stops to eat. However, the walk ways are a quiet distance and therefore the personal logistics are a mess and shall be improved. However, the staff and the clerks are super friendly (for HH understanding) and as soon you're at the Elbe, your are more than happy

Similar to many airports in Germany, a good selection of shops, a lot of glass to allow natural light in, some nice pubs and restaurants. Good connection to the city by pubblic transport.
