Most perfect building for an archaeological exhibition that I've ever seen! It lies directly above the ancient Roman street and amazingly includes it into the building. The different historical periods are on different levels, so you can go from antiquity on the ground floor to the 20th century on the 4th floor. It has a lot of interesting exhibits, you can get a guided tour and you also can book tours for children. The museum offers good food and drinks in a restaurant directly beside the Roman ruins, clean and modern toilets as well as nice souvenirs an a small museum shop.

Really worth seeing. Great ancient section with Roman, Helenic and Thracian artefacts, including a real ancient street on top of which the museum was built. Impressive glass artefacts, golden treasure, masks etc. Good for families, although I was expecting more interactive things for children.

Beautifully made and there are a lot of artifacts from which you can learn about our and ancient history. In most museum you pay the same tax, but you have much less items to observe. For example, in Stara Zagora museum there were 4 floors full of history, meanwhile most of the museums offer maximum of 2. I strongly recommend visiting this museum!

Ice building. A few very interesting and worthier pieces. A lot of mistakes in the titles and the objects. Does not match. So if you don’t know history you will be lost. More about ancient and Rome period. No entry possible with ISIC or ITIC cards. So we are still disconnected from the world. At the end it is a must visit. But could be better.

Well organized 3 floor building. Part of 100 Bulgarian national places. You can see an old Roman street on the museum ground floor. Outside you can see part of the ancient Roman town.

My visit was not first in the museum, but first one with a guide, and it makes a world of difference. The guide's English was excellent, and she talked very informatively. The museum is awesome, and visitors are able to witness the rich history of Stara Zagora and the region from ancient times to nowadays. Definitely warmly recommend!

The museum has very beautiful artefacts on screen but on the contrary with other and more important arhaeological museums around Bulgaria like the one in Sofia, Varna, Ruse or Plovdiv where you are allowed to take pictures with a camera, this museum does not allowed you to take photos. I think they are very jealous of sharing photos of their artefacts with lovers of history. Meanwhile outside in the ruins of the forum you can find that none is taking care of the ruins which has rubbish, plastics, graffiti, tall grass and rotten wood in the steps of the auditorium. I would like the city and the museum would take more seriously which is important,  a photo of one artefact or the whole ruins. Photo taken under the bridge over the forum.
